She said that she was terribly nervous during that performance and her singing suffered as it was her first live performance of the song in a big stadium. I have no doubt that with proper staging and production, that she will do great in Rotterdam.

Montaigne hurt her voice during rehearsals for the Mardi Gras gig, but she also said afterwards she was nervous as crowd of 37,000 was her biggest live gig. But I think she has listened to feedback from 2020 and changed things that copped a bit of criticism, like hair, costume, too much dancing etc. This song gets stuck in your head so I think it will be more memorable than 2020. Fingers crossed 🤞

@@RD-tw7sx she was only able to do 2 takes I think, and they were not allowed to make any edits or chops to make it "perfect", I thought she did pretty well, she's still a very young artist and this is such a big gig!

I'm still impressed by Kate Miller-Heidke. She's the QUEEN of Australian Eurovision 😍🥰 I'm sorry Australia, i really like your participants, but this live singing gives me these Julia Samoilova (Russia 2018) vibes 😱

Actually that accolade belongs to Dami im. KMH is never called the queen of EV in Australia, i have never heard that but Damui all over the place. Dami in 2016 Vocal was perfection from start to finish whereas KMH was not. SOS from 2016 has now over 18 million views and Zero Gravity only 3.9 million views. Dami also has a Platinum certification for SOS ZG did not sell at all. Dami is still talked about all the time and ZG came 9th whereas SOS came 2nd. All pols put SOS at always the top including a poll just taken last week from SBS EV fans putting SOS at 55% of the total vote and ZG at 15% only. Pitch dami with KMH in a contest and Dami would win hands down. KMH has a good voice but Dami sells more music and also Dami also is all over the TV singing at concerts.

@@endlessspace.8776 RUBBISH re the contest - Kate and Dami both have classical training why say one is better than the other. In Kate's defence The staging of Zero Gravity had greater impact than Dami's staging and was groundbreaking. Kate was note perfect on the song while doing a gymnastic routine on top of a pole which for any mere mortal would have murdered the vocals or caused them to pee with fright! Listen to all the vocal coaches and voice teachers on KZfaq who reviewed Kate's performance-they state she was note perfect and with amazing control given the challenging movement. Just accept that both performers will be remembered. Record sales are always a bonus but Eurovision is about getting into the finals, getting into the top 10 and getting into the top 5, Winning and Hosting!

I've been waiting for this - for the first time I genuinely love Australia's entry. Usually I don't see why there's this big hype around Australia in Eurovision, but that was mainly due to them sending safe songs the years 2015 to 2018. Anyway, this genre (hyperpop) is really not everyone's taste, but the production and arrangement give me a nostalgic feeling, so that's a huge plus for me. Also her "shaky vocals" are IMO (at least partly) intentional, maybe I'm wrong here though. I really wish Australia would do well, but since I like the song, I doubt it will reach top 20. 🤣 Thanks for your reaction, very entertaining AS USUAL!!

Thanks for your lovely comment! Something about this just doesn't work for us! Her vocals could be really awesome, but I feel like she needs to gain control of them some more. I get a kind of Kate Bush vibe from the runs and wobbles, but Montaigne doesn't seem to own her own voice yet.

The studio version sounds amazing and polished. I am afraid that she won't get to manage her vocals on the stage. The song is complex and the edge between pitching the note and sounding out of tune, is very thin.

This reminds me of Ireland in 2019. Nice girl with a good voice and an ok song but struggled to perform it live. Hopefully they will realise what a mess that performance was and improve for Eurovision. I do also have a feeling this could potentially be opening semi final 1. For the first time I am worried Australia will not qualify from their semi-final.

like this was the first time she sang that song, was a stadium...and she say in the interview that se was to nervous...and dont compara the sound off madi gras with eurovision... I think she will improve... I really like the song :)

the song isn't that bad at all, the only problem is: she can't sing well live, she doesn't hit the right note and it sounds so crooked that it takes my shoes off ...

I think it's a good song, but I kinda prefer Don't break me a bit more. This is the first time I see the live performance of the song, and I can see, what you mean with, that from this clip she sounds out of breath sometimes and a bit out of control with her voice, like she is trying too much, when she is both dancing and singing. Yes maybe she is more of an emotional singer than a sassy one, and that's why I like Don't break me a bit more. I think if the staging is good for Rotterdam, and she doesn't look awkward or sound really out of breath, then the song can qualify to the final.

I love the song although she sucks a little bit while singing. so i've downloaded a studio version. it sounds somewhat cosmical, very catchy and unusual. Not the fav of my year, but i enjoy listening to it and hope she'll make it.

Studio version is ok, but live is very weak. The same happened last year. I don't believe she can sing live.

I don't like the voice. sometimes it sounds crooked to me. I also found the song from last year very weak. Australia is currently in 19th place for me.

@@MX-lp5ie nope it’s a strong semi and a bloodbath. I don’t even see Australia going beyond these 10: 1. Lithuania 🇱🇹 2. Russia 🇷🇺 3. Sweden 🇸🇪 4. Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 5. Croatia 🇭🇷 6. Cyprus 🇨🇾 7. Malta 🇲🇹 8. Norway 🇳🇴 9. Romania 🇷🇴 10. Ukraine 🇺🇦 As you can see Israel 🇮🇱, Ireland 🇮🇪, and Belgium 🇧🇪 didn’t make it and they are way better than Australia 🇦🇺! Better luck next year then!

I'm Australian- I keep listening to it but I haven't warmed to it and it still sounds like a cringeworthy hot mess of juvenile improvised rubbish. I don't believe we will qualify. My money's on San Marino or Slovenia or Russia. Russia is the right sort of hot mess- Australia is a duck and cover disaster. As I've said before Australia is more the type of Technicolour Yawn you bring up when you've had a night on the p*ss! I'm not sure this is redeemable. It needs a massive remix and rework. Montaigne needs to stop singing her backing track at the same time as singing the lead vocals, and she needs to stop with the daggy choreography. This is Eurovision she's going to, not some local drunken pub karaoke night. I will be doing tea and wee break when Australia comes on in the qualifiers. Best to avert my eyes and ears than to take on this assault to my senses. AND TO THINK MONTAIGNE TURNED DOWN A DIANE WARREN SONG TO PUSH FORWARD THIS! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
