This video is to help new shooters or students that are coming to Arming the Nation to get their firearms licence safety course to understand what is required to legally store your firearms at home or place of storage.

You need to get as many Australians to go to shooting range as possible.

you can also use trigger locks on the bolt action firearms in the safe, saves hunting down 12 SMLE bolts 😁😁

not really as a trigger lock does not work on a lever action this was the simplest thing I could work out to get around these laws

Yes absolutely mate 👍

I look forward to getting to America after my uni course. Their laws are so much better than Australia's.

You have to become a citizen or get a special licence. You as an Australian cannot walk into Walmart and buy a gun like a US citizen can.😂
@DatsunBloke73572 ай бұрын
@Paul-lk4np I believe once I gain a green card, I may be able to get firearms. My ultimate goal is to move to the USA. Over in Australia, we have implied rights while you have the bill of rights.

@@DatsunBloke7357 that's cool. Apart from gun laws and big burgers and NFL I'm not a big fan of the place. Seems your on KZfaq every city and town is fucked by zombies on fentanyl and other.shit

Can you please clarify your comment on a timber safe? is it your understanding that it is possible to build a legal safe using timber for example once a frame is constructed you can clad it with ply? I've heard previously that it has to be a minimum of 40mm with a solid core door and appropriate lock.

I'm pretty sure the language in the in the legislation regarding ammunition storage is that it has to be separate from major components and has to be 'secured'. It does not mention the container having to be locked. So, on a technicality, if you kept the ammo in the original box and put that in a container that is 'secure' (closed and out of reach, so it could be bloody tupperware if you wanted to), it would be perfectly legal. Theoretically, that is. I would personally never store ammunition in a tupperware container in my cupboard. 😊 I could be wrong, though. I might have to give it another read. 😅

yes all it says is that ammunition must be stored in an area that minimizes explosion in original packaging or better for eg. ammo containers for reloading individually separated in container, in an area that an unauthorized person can get to and never with a firearm of major component of a firearm.

you are correct i am just giving people examples so they know how to store it, i get people in my courses that have never even seen a gun before i try to make it easy so they can understand.

No mention of magazine storage and can they be stored loaded?

Regulations can be irksome but as law abiding gun owners we protect our rights to keep firearms by complying with the Weapons Act

Does a safe over 150kg need to be secured (bolted) for handgun storage? Cheers
@armingthenationfirearmstra19425 ай бұрын
yes no matter what the weight is once a Cat H goes in the steel safe if must be bolted to the frame of floor of the building that is why i bolted it down in the video

can u put ur h license guns in that safe with them
@npet68422 ай бұрын
Depending which Aussie location you are in , that's not a H category safe . There are minimum metal thickness requirements .

I think storing your rifle bolts in with your rifles is wrong,if someone breaks into your gun safe they have a complete weapon if the bolt is right next to the rifle ! Wouldn’t it be safer if the bolt is locked away separately from the rifle ? That law needs to be changed,I had a gun safe inspection last year and had my 2 rifle bolts stored separately in with my ammunition in a locked compartment in the safe and the police officer didn’t say a word ? He inspected my entire safe and commended me for having a well organised firearm storage safe and having all my permits to Aquire nearby.

I agree with you it says no major component with ammunition the bolt is a major component laws don't make sense I know mate cheers
@IDGAF568527 ай бұрын
@armingthenationfirearmstra1942 it sure doesn't but it's the law like you said in Queensland.

@@IDGAF56852 you must be crazy mate, do you have to also remove the lever from la lever action, remove the bolt and store the lever and the bold in another safe and then have a 3rd safe with the keys and the key to that safe keep it at a bank safe, that should the THE ONLY way to store weapons at home right? Jesus .... anybody can rock to your house with an angle grinder and cut through your safe and ammobox no matter how many safes you have, please don't be stupid and don't make it harder for shooters. Breaking the action is enough! the only reason you remove the bolt is so you can release the tension so it don't wear out. huntersandshooters.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Screenshot_2021-01-16-10-15-09-402011.jpg
