This economic presentation with Glenn Jacobs, aka Kane, was documented on September 5, 2013.
0:00:00 - 1:03:16 - Austrian Economics Presentation
1:03:30 - 1:16:33 - Q & A
"It really ticks me off when I hear leftists and statists talk about how the free market causes wealth inequality, the free market doesn't. The free market though out history has allowed poor people to pull themselves up and has given people more socio economic ability to move up and down the socio economic ladder, up, than anything else in history.
Paul Krugman, who is a keynesian economist par excellence, just wants to inflate like crazy, but yet he writes a column for the New York Times and it's called 'Conscience of a Liberal', because he loves poor people despite the fact that he's the guy that's killing them, but then he'll look at someone like me and say you hate the poor. I don't hate the poor, I hate the fact that they're poor."
-Glenn Jacobs (41:33 - 42:22)

+Pine Tree A terrible lesson too. Austrian School was discredited nearly a century ago. He doesn't understand that fiat currency DOES have intrinsic value. It's called: Taxes. People with property must acquire money to pay their property taxes and the Big Bad Gummint doesn't accept Monopoly money. So even if everyone suddenly decided that things were better when you could sell your daughter for 5 goats, people are still going to accept money.
@EmperorNero
@EmperorNero 8 жыл бұрын
+Roguemember In your opinion. It is up for debate. Also no money has no intrinsic value. Things like Gold have value, because we say it has value. The valuable things are food,water, shelter at the end of the day, because that currency goes to buy food,water, shelter. Taxes are a way to garner money, but before we had coin, we had to give food,water,wood etc to the government for taxes.
@Illusionistical822

Emperor Nero Your analysis is correct....in 1356.
@EmperorNero
@EmperorNero 8 жыл бұрын
Roguemember Considering we don't even use gold, nor silver anymore our money is worse. We has nothing backing it at all. Also in 1356. So you're going to ignore the 1920s germany when you could have a wheelbarrow full of deutschmarks that had nothing, and they were worthless. People stole the wheelbarrow instead.

@lairdriver
@lairdriver 8 жыл бұрын
+bigzachful Not really. He's actually a terrible businessman. He was born a millionaire and he's like the baseball player who started life on 3rd base and claimed the home run for himself. He's made terrible investments, he's had major business failures and he has fucked over investors by hiding behind corporate bankruptcy 4 times. I can see a Presidential candidate possibly having ONE bankruptcy due to whatever circumstances. But not 4, especially not 4 coming from someone who has zero political experience. Donald Trump thinks dealing with Government finance is the same as dealing with personal finance. He's been very good at Real Estate, but the majority of his 'fortune' was made long ago. Now he just sells his name to companies who make condo's. He's not a Billionaire. He's valued his own name at $4 Billion. As far as actual formal education, he has a Bachelors Degree in Economics. That's not entirely impressive considering there are hundreds of thousands of North American's who have one. What is particularly disturbing is his claims. So to ask you this? Do you think Donald Trump can erase the US 19 Trillion dollar debt in 8 years? He thinks so. Any educated human being knows this, every financial expert from garage trader to someone with a Doctorate in financial math knows this..but he wants you to believe this.

I always figured that he was more of a political science graduate. But yeah, I'd listen to his lectures. I remembered his explanation of the water and diamond paradox.

Who wants to speculate with me why he asked for the camera to be shut off at the end when he was about to answer the question as to why he does or doesn't think the government is going to try to confiscate gold again?

Gleen makes some interesting points both here and on additional videos. He's been a longtime supporter of Ron Paul and I value his remarks on questioning authority. People are so easily distracted these days with their materialistic crap that it's like giving a dog a bone to distract em from being the watchful eye. No one bothers to question authority, so they're just allowing them to do whatever with no cause for concern or the consequences they face.

Fantastic explanation of why appeals to the gold standard are not just nostalgic reflections on our barbarous past. Gold and silver satisfy the conditions as to what has historically constituted sound currency. No fetish or nostalgia is required to think that such metals make good money.
