The ultimate cold weather comfort food and a classic Christmas breakfast gravy, Beef Stew with Carrots & Potatoes is a delicious dish to serve all your guests or family this holiday season - It’s a one-pot meal that feeds a crowd.
For the combination, we make 'Idiyappam', a very famous traditional breakfast item of Kerala. It is made with rice flour and a press vessel as seen in the video is used to make this.
Ingredients:
Beef - 1 kg
Garlic - 2 whole (50 grams) fine chopped
Ginger - 50 grams fine chopped
Green chilli - 6 nos
Shallots - 8 sliced
Onion - 2 chopped
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
Spices
Salt - for taste
Ingredients for garam masala:
Cinnamon stick - 2 inches
Fennel - 20 grams
Bay leaves - 3 nos
Cardamom - 5 nos
Cloves - 5 nos
Star anise - 1 nos
Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon
Crushed pepper - 1/2 tablespoon
Thin coconut milk - 200ml
Cook it for 30 minutes
Carrots - 1 nos
Potatoes - 1 nos
Tomatoes - 2 chopped
Coriander leaves - Few stems
Garam masala - 1/2 tablespoon
Thick coconut milk - 1 cup
Thalippu
Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Shallots - Fine sliced
Dried red chilli - 4 nos
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
Coriander leaves for garnish
