IDAHO FALLS - An author who worked closely with Chad Daybell warned him three years ago that his teachings “will lead to death and sorrow.”
Suzanne Freeman was one of the first writers to have her work published by Spring Creek Book Company, which Daybell launched in 2004. Over the next ten years, she partnered with him on three projects but in 2014, she felt uncomfortable with the direction his business was moving and new authors he was working with.
“He started publishing non-Mormon doctrine stories - people’s different experiences and stuff, and I just told him there’s something that’s not quite right,” Freeman told EastIdahoNews.com earlier this month. “Plus, we were working on a book of mine together to take out of the LDS stuff, and I was kind of surprised by that because he was an LDS author.”
RELATED | Author who worked with Chad Daybell says he’s been deceived and needs to ‘do the right thing’
Freeman and Chad parted ways, but she wanted the publishing rights to her book back. On June 2, 2017, she sent him an email making the request with a stern warning:
Hi Chad,
I was wondering if it was at all possible for you to give me the rights of the books. I understand that you are busy but I have paid you off last fall and I have not seen any royalties since last year.
I have had a deep respect for you and have thought that you were following the spirit but in the past few years I think that deception has crept in.
I do not agree with what you are publishing. I have come to the understanding that what you are publishing is false.
I understand that you don’t agree and you might just think I am being spiteful or jealous in some way. That is further from the truth, but in the end, truth will prevail and the truth of all things will be shown to those who are true and faithful.
I know without a shadow of a doubt what you are preaching will not lead to happiness. It will lead to death and sorrow.
Daybell responded two days later, saying he was sorry Freeman had “bitter feelings” toward him and agreed to return her publishing rights. The two communicated via email for several months but Freeman said she never got the rights back.
Freeman provided the email chain to EastIdahoNews.com with some personal information and details redacted. She forgot about the messages until she went back to her email archive this week.
“I kept the emails because I wanted proof that he said he would give them (the publishing rights) to me and when I read through it…it was just plain old eery. I just don’t know what to make of it honestly,” she tells EastIdahoNews.com.
Freeman says when she told Chad his teachings would result in “death and sorrow,” she was referring to his predictions about the end-of-times. She was particularly bothered about his idea that a “call-out” would happen where righteous members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with food storage and temple recommend would gather at Church-owned camps and prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Exactly! As if God NEEDS us to kill each other. If there is a God, the creator of all things (I believe there is a God personally, but I could be wrong) he doesn’t need us to kill someone. He’s perfectly capable of doing it himself.

And...the medical examiner should have his/her license revoked. A healthy 49 year old woman dies in her sleep and they did not perform an autopsy! It should have been done, no matter what the family's wishes. And no one went to the police to tell them that it was suspicious that Chad got married two weeks after his wife passes away? Someone should have told the police, so he could have been investigated and Tammy could have been exhumed a lot sooner. There were a lot of people with their heads in the sand around this man.

katie price It’s more than expectation, it’s FAITH and HOPE as commanded by Jesus Christ. This is what Jesus said before his death and resurrection in Matthew 5, after beatitudes and how to love totally ; 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. And after his resurrection, where Jesus achieves The perfection, he said almost the same thing to his other sheep in America, but this time he referred to his own perfection 48 Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect. 3 Nephi 12:48 But, President Russell M. Nelson said that we have to be patient because that perfection is not going to happen in this life. I am glad that he clarified that. Indeed, in this mortal life there is no perfection that’s why we need Jesus Christ and his Light to obtain the healthy and clear conscience to choose and judge righteously. As for now, we just have to do our best possible.

I suspect it's more likely that he wasn't going to get rid of his wife, until she got rid of her children. Kind of a blood oath they took with each other. First they got rid of Charles, then he got rid of his wife (it appears, because there was a masked assailant threatened her a week before her death), and then they got rid of the children. Then they both "know where the bodies are buried," and they owe each other big time, if one goes down, the other goes down. Then they would be living on easy street with almost 2 million in life insurance and all of their spouses' assets. Ah, well, the best-laid plans of mice and men go oft astray.

I had the same thoughts. Proof of the emails would mean a lot more, but she keeps saying she didn’t say it as “nicely” in the emails as she is recounting it now. She probably doesn’t want a transcript of her spitting insults at her old publisher if she wants to ever publish books again.

The large networks in the US don't give enough airtime to investigative journalist. I like to watch CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Channel) to get in-depth reporting on things that happen in the United States. They have several shows that really take the time to do interviews and bring in experts. It seems like our "news" is just commentators talking in circles.

@Cynthia Baker But she thought it would be people shooting each other because of food shortages, or something like that, when in fact, it is nothing like that. And she might think, as Melanie Gibbs does, that the deaths were caused by people embracing beliefs which weren't LDS scriptural/ dogma, such as reincarnation. Most East Indians believe in reincarnation and they have some of the most stable marriages, the lowest divorce rate in the world (not that their system or religions are perfect, i don't want to go down that rabbit hole). Also, according to PEW Research, 33% of Americans believe in reincarnation, who aren't all cheating on their mates and killing their children. Apparently it hasn't occurred to a lot of people that the problem is related to deceiving and lying and cheating on your wife and husband, while scheming to make bank on their untimely deaths. They could believe in reincarnation and personal prophesy, while still not coveting their neighbors' wife or house or any of his possessions. You don't need to be a prophet to know that, lying and cheating your mate is going to stir up a hornet's nest within families, a reality that's been as plain as the nose on your face for at least 7000 years.

Here is the book overview from another book she wrote-she is just as nuts as Chad. Voices came from a room off to one side. When we pushed open the door, I saw George Washington standing behind a podium, addressing some of his peers from mortality, including many of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Thus began Suzanne Freeman's visit with America's Founding Fathers during a near-death experience. While in the Spirit World, she was shown the tribulations and sacrifices these men and women had faced during their lifetimes as they established the United States of America. She also learned that these valiant leaders still care deeply about America and are concerned about the direction the country is headed. As Suzanne's visit with the Founders concluded, she was given a vision of America's future-our future. It was made clear to her that while there would be challenging times ahead, America could retain its place as a chosen land if the citizens truly desire it. The Founders pleaded with Suzanne to return to earth and share their message of how we must strengthen our nation before it is too late. As you read their words, the Spirit of Liberty will grow within your own soul and give you hope that America's future can indeed remain bright.

Chad had “predicted” Tammy would die in a car crash long before the children went missing. She was in the way of their greater plan, and he couldn’t fully be with Lori until she died anyways. I’m surprised the children disappeared BEFORE Tammy died. I can imagine Lori was probably pretty impatient. He probably told her that her children were zombies to test her loyalty to him. If Lori wouldn’t have been on board to kill her children ,Chad probably wouldn’t have killed Tammy either.
