Red and Green are a combo I almost always try to avoid, but I give them a fair shot in this acrylic pour painting, especially flip cups. It was a great exercise in trying to avoid muddy colors! I talk through the process in this one :-)
Since I was locked into some type of red and green, I already broke rule one in avoiding muddy colors, which is: don't combine complementary colors. Other ways to avoid muddy colors I try to explain include:
1) using thick paint
2) layering colors gently in the cup
3) tilting the canvas slowly
4) using enough paint
This video does not show my paint mixing. For more on that, check this video: • Amazing 2' x 3' Dirty ...

Thanks Teri. I was a bit too bah-humbuggy!! lol. I tend to be that way sometimes after a pour (overly harsh on it). I did end up really liking the dried result! Thank you for watching :-)

I love it... can you tell me what colors to use in pours that won’t get muddy or what colors I should avoid. Thanks
@JennyPost
@JennyPost 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Cheryl! In terms of colors, it is probably best to avoid colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel. However, if your paint is thick enough and you layer enough colors between them, you can use pretty much any colors.... For example, this pour used red and green together (across from each other) but it turned out OK.

Jenny, how do you make your paint thicker? Does that mean you add more paint than medium? Or more medium than paint? Thanks for your info. I found your channel via your Facebook post about avoiding cells. I'd like to avoid cells as much as possible, so please let me know if you've come across anymore info since your FB post.

Hey Craig. Yes, I use three parts paint to 1 part medium and then thin it down with a bit of water. Check the link to a video in the video description for how I mix paint (I have put out a few. let me know if you can't find it). I have NOT come across other tips on how to not get cells since that article. Good luck!! I will try a video where I am going for no cells... be on the lookout for that one. I will try to put all those rules into play and see what happens.

Hi Jenny, Christina Welch recommended you and I'm glad she did. Subscribed. Just a quick question. I tried to make a red and gold pour and the red became more orange. Do you have a vibrant red you can suggest. Also how to I get it not to lighten. Appreciate your time.

@@JennyPost Thank you for your suggestions. If I use white or black they sink to the bottom, or is there a way to prevent this. Any other colour suggestions.
