#acrylicpouring #hugeacrylicpour #fluidartcollab This video includes uncut footage of a huge, beautiful 2 foot by 4 foot acrylic pour painting commission being created by me and my husband, Corey. You get to be a fly on the wall as we discuss, debate, and celebrate our way through the creation of this huge poured painting. This was the third attempt at a piece for this customer.. the first two attempts did not have enough red. Fluid art is unpredictable, but that's a big reason I love it so much! In the end, this acrylic pour worked out beautifully, with huge cells and vibrant colors!
Here is a blog post I did about this paint pouring experience: acrylicpouring.com/recreating...
How I mix paint:
If you are interested in learning how I mix paint, check out this video: • Amazing 2' x 3' Dirty ...
My recipe is 3 parts paint (pebeo studio acrylics) to 1 part pouring medium (half and half Liquitex PM and GAC 800). I then thin it to pouring consistency with a solution made of 1/4 pouring medium and 3/4 water... the paint mixing video shows all this.
Colors are Pebeo Studio Acrylics in: Red Ochre, Yellow Ochre, Ivory, Iridescent Green Blue, Violet, Iridescent Gold, Iridescent Bronze, Magenta, Yellowish Green, Prussian Blue, Dark Blue Green

Beautiful job and well done! I feel the need to share with you. We rebuilt our shed this spring. I used the left overs to make approximately a 3’x7’ pour. The shed is multiples colors, so I had tons of left over paint. Anyway, I used the door cut out as my base. Built a frame underneath, so it has nice 2” sides. Anyway, I did it I the garage in 110 degrees🤪. Oh, and I did it alone😩. Anyway, happy with the out come. It is hanging from fence posts by my patio. Very happy with it. Boyfriend is asking me to do more😂

Thank you Kay! In my opinion, it is ideal to have two people when working with a canvas this big. However, I have seen people do it alone, they just move from side to side and tilt one edge at a time. Two people allows for more control of the flow of paint though. Thank you for watching!!

I see you are doing some Bette Ridgeway technique! You always had the best cell results and I remember how meticulous you were about your formula. Two years later I just don't even consider it bc Im not looking for cells but you have encouraged me to try your method again. I have scraped so much $ off paintings I didnt like and that GAC and pouring medium is so costly...It was fun watching
@JennyPost
@JennyPost 5 жыл бұрын
YES!! Isn't she amazing!! Once I get my garage cleaned up, I will do another attempt at a Bette Ridgeway technique pour!! You need so much space to do those! So incredibly fun though! I hope you give it a shot again! Just start small and tweak it till it is working for you. The key is using enough paint and having your paint thick enough (in my opinion). Thank you for sticking with my channel! Let me know how it goes!

@@JennyPost well I got her video from an artist named Debbie Sneed (she loaned it to me) I met on a pouring group. After I watched it I couldn't imagine pouring all that paint off and working on a loose canvas. But I'm looking forward to what you come up with. Those paints are so costly. But maybe since they are diluted and no medium... I have some I ordered but haven't used them yet! I'm afraid of wasting them lol But they are beautiful paints and there are no paints like them...so bright!

@@crochethappy3786 I hear you! I started cutting my paintings up and making them into jewelry!! They actually sell that way! LOL I have sold almost all my paintings, in tiny half inch pieces! I like to ask Cory a couple of questions. I have a very large wall art canvas 40”x60” lightly textured from Home Goods. Which I am not crazy about. I like to do a flip cup over it. Can I use a base paint and then let it dry before I do a flip cup? I hope to keep it from cracking. What should I use to cover over do art ?
@JennyPost

I don't know about this without seeing the painting, Waneva. BUT, I would think you will be fine if you cover it with a few layers of Gesso. Good luck!
@jro9365
@jro9365 5 жыл бұрын
I recover over art all the time with a layer of Gesso then I put a base layer of white on when the Gesso is dry and go from there. I've actually re used a few canvases several times if I dont like how it turns out & have never had an issue with any of them. Good luck. !!! 😁😁 oh and if there is a little texture on the original canvas you can lightly hand sand it down or just leave it for some texture for the new painting...just depends on what it is or how thick. Just have fun with it you can ALWAYS re do it. Lol. 😉😉😉
@wanevacook5675
@wanevacook5675 5 жыл бұрын
I have to say I love ❤️ it! How many colors did use and how many ounces of each color did you make? How large were the cups did you use for each cup pour? How should I figure the amount of paint for a 40”x60”?
@JennyPost
@JennyPost 5 жыл бұрын
I mixed 17 16-ounce mason jars of paint. I used 11 colors (Red Ochre, Yellow Ochre, Ivory, Iridescent Green Blue, Violet, Iridescent Gold, Iridescent Bronze, Magenta, Yellowish Green, Prussian Blue, Dark Blue Green). The cups I used for flip cups were 18oz, I believe. It is hard for me to tell you how to determine the amount of paint you will need. It depends on different factors, such as your paint consistency, your pouring mixture, etc. Here is what I would do. Determine how much paint you used to create a painting that worked well for you and then scale that to the larger size painting. BUT, the most important thing on big paintings is USE ENOUGH PAINT. So however much you think you will need, mix MORE than that!! lol
