Predator mimicking and taunting Dutch's men is not only creepy and intimidating 😳 but also down right scary too!! Especially when the Predator uses Billy's laugh before the Predator nuked himself!! -OG

Now imagine being 7 years old, and seeing that in theaters, and then talking to all of your friends about it next week.

The helicopter pilot shown at 25:05 is the same actor who plays the Predator, named Kevin Peter Hall. He was such a good/nice/helpful guy, that they gave him a real-life cameo at the end of the movie. He saved the productions ass by filling in for Jean Claude Van-Damme, who was originally playing the Predator, but he was a nightmare on set so they fired him. KPH came in half way through and knocked it out the park. He also played Harry, in the movie "Harry and the Hendersons", if you remember that one. RIP.

Fun fact! I would've died in the first 5 minutes of this movie. Probably repelling from the helicopter.

It’s a great movie for sure: The design and execution on the Predator is top notch even by today’s standards. (And who would have think that an 80s action movie would have stated two future US Governors!? 😅)

Yes, that gatling-gun guy is indeed Jesse Ventura, before becoming Governor and before getting the bald head. This movie spawned a series of movies. It was even adapted to comics. I have a Batman vs Predator graphic novel and it is insane. Basically, its a race of aliens that love to hunt for sport. They pick the fittest dude to kill and spare the weaker being (in this case, the woman).

It was also said that Arnold and Jesse Ventura were the only ones on this set that could cary the mini gun when it was fully assembled

Ah, the timeless story of a group of badasses who are humbled by an even greater badass, until one of them reaches a new level of badassery. Homer's Odyssey had elements of this theme.

Classic 80s sci-fi action flick! What’s cool and interesting about this movie, is the whole first part plays like a straight, traditional 80s action flick. The first part of this movie is definitely representative of many 80s action flicks of the time. Then midway through it changes gears and becomes a sci-fi horror film. So basically The Predator is an alien on safari hunting worthy prey. There is a sequel that was originally poo poo’d when it first came out for not being the original, and no Arnold. People have warmed up to it though in later years. I’d say Predator 2 is worth the watch. No rush. Ton of movies to see before that. But eventually, I think it is worth checking out.

Arnold's first major movie, Conan the Barbarian from 1982 is a fun choice, James Earl Jones playing the bad guy against Arnold was always fun to me

I'm glad they don't answer too many questions about the Predator in this film. The less you know, the greater the intrigue and mystique of the Predator. Each little reveal only begs more questions. That's how you create a cult classic that has endured the test of time for decades! Also, the less you know, the greater the fear! People always fear the unknown. Gotta love this classic, so many politicians in this movie :P Going from an absolute dominant military force to being hunted by a superior force was amazing. Ive seen this movie more than I should have. The soundtrack is also very good IMO.

One of the all-time best Schwarzenegger films of all time. I love how halfway through the film, the tone suddenly changes to a thriller suspense film from an all-out action film. So many great one liners come from this movie. I also like how Dutch is built up to be such as badass, and then he finds out that there is something worse than him in that jungle. I also enjoy that he has to resort to old school guerilla warfare to survive.

Great reaction, hope you stick with the Predator series. Biggest mistake in this film is the opening scene with the spaceship, never should have been included.

GET TO DA CHOPPA!!! My #1 favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie! Facts you didn't know about the movie: Jean Claude van Damme played the Predator in some parts of the movie, but quit production as he was tired of wearing the original suit which looked like a giant lizard insect hybrid. Stan Winston Studios designed the PREDATOR suit for the film, and would later return to the franchise for PREDATOR 2. Kevin Peter Hall RIP, 7'2" was cast as the titular Alien as he was more of an intimidating opponent for Arnold's character Dutch. Half the cast and crew got food poisoning except for Arnold and Director McTiernan whom ate Spaghetti O's and PBJ Sandwiches. Schwarzenegger would later hire his own personal Chef to give the actors the food they needed. Sonny Landham RIP whom played Billy hired a bodyguard to protect people from him as he was prone to violent outbursts. Landham said in an interview that "We weren't making a movie, it was a survival story for all of us." It was 110 degrees in the shade while it was 42 degrees at night. It rained for 2 weeks making filming even more difficult. It was a box office success $100 million dollars ($350 million dollars today) against an $18 million dollar budget.

Great movie. The pilot in the chopper at the end of the movie is actually the guy who plays the Predator. Van Damme was suppose to play the Predator but he quit cause he could not handle the suite. You should watch The Running Man 1987 another Arnold great underrated movie that came out the same year and was overshadowed by this movie.

No less than three members of the cast ran for election in governor races in different states. Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura were successful in California and Minnesota, and Sonny Landham (Billy) ran for governor of Kentucky in 2003 but didn't make it through the primary election. He died in 2017.

There is a direct sequel. I quite like it, but it has mixed reviews. Worth it for more info on the aliens.

Bill Duke was in my local bookstore promoting a book he wrote. If my teenage self had a few more bucks, I would have bought a Predator novel and had him sign it. He might have been sore I didn't buy his book, though.

You aren't wrong about the budget, only cost 18m to make. Fun fact they filmed it in Mexico but the scouting didn't realize the jungle would be barren during filming so they had to bring trees and shrubs to make the jungle look like a jungle. You can see it certain scenes theres loads of dead leaves and trees are barren.

If you get a chance to watch the second Predator with Danny Glover at that one is my all-time favorite😊

To match Arnold's muscles 💪, they needed a good villain. They got 7' 3" tall Kevin Peter Hall to play the Predator!! He also played Bigfoot in Harry and the Henderson's! -OG

Just a few notes and a recommendation: Carl Weathers' character in Rocky was Apollo Creed. Like Da Arnold Jesse Ventura was also elected governor, in Minnesota. A movie I have never seen a reaction for is My Favorite Year, which featured Peter O'Toole in a ridiculous and hilarious role.

Loved your reaction and I'm really glad I recently came across your channel, a few things though, the gun that you called a gatling gun is actually not, it's a minigun. The minigun was heavily influenced by the gatling gun however it is much more powerful, a gatling gun has a maximum cyclic rate (the rate of fire of a fully automatic firearm) of 3,000 rounds per minute and fires .22 calibre rounds. A minigun has a maximum cyclic rate of 6,000 rounds per minute and fires 7.62x51 NATO which is a much larger and more powerful calibre than the .22. Also what you thought were rockets are actually grenades lol a grenade launcher works the same as the way a bullet is fired from a gun whereas a rocket actually has a motor that keeps the rocket going once it is fired (RPG rockets still have a primer cap that is struck by a firing pin that causes the rocket to be fired rapidly but once it's fired the motor takes over propelling it, a grenade doesn't have a motor to propel it. Also on a related note contrary to what Hollywood would have you believe when you fire an RPG it doesn't slowly build pressure and then slowly fire the rocket giving the target plenty of time to get out of the way lol as soon as you pull the trigger on an RPG that rocket is gone, they fire at approximately 1,300 feet per second, roughly the same speed as a bullet fired from a typical handgun)

The Gatling gun that you referred to is actually called a mini-gun, called so because it’s essentially a miniature version of a machine gun typically installed on helicopters.

Also, especially when you've got a canopy like that, it's so easy to get lost if you don't have GPS and a good map. Thankfully, the GPS constellations have the best coverage over the tropics, but the quality of maps may be lacking. I say may be, techniques that allow better satellite mapping of the ground, rather than the canopy have been maturing over the past 15-20 years.

This was an awesome video man. I’m in my early 20’s and saw this movie when I was probably like 8 or 9 and had pretty much the same reaction as you. To this day this is my favorite movie of all time next to dawn of the planet of the apes that came out in 2014.

This is a movie that does genre subversion right. It starts off as your typical action movie, you got your corny one-liners, you have your awesome dudes with muscles that can crush a human skull shooting tons of dudes, you got people getting shot to pieces, explosions… then suddenly, the action heroes are on the defensive. They’re suddenly almost helpless, getting picked off one by one by an enemy they cannot see, they cannot predict, they suddenly go from being the conquering heroes to being trapped like rats in a maze. Not a perfect film, they could have really done a better job with the cinematography considering the location, but the writing, characters, acting, story, and effects really gave us an amazing film.

The guy who played the predator also starred in Harry and the Hendersons, which I recommend.

I almost forgot. I know you have lots of movies on your list, but a very iconic movie that is made reference to, and has influenced thousands of movies over the years is a movie called 2001: A space odyssey. If you're on a mission to see some of the greatest movies ever made, that one is a must see. It has practical effects that are way ahead of it's time. It's a hard movie to react to though because it is extremely cerebral and surreal.

Another cheesy 80s action movie. One of Arnie's best, along with Conan, Terminator, T2, True Lies, and Total Recall (+ Twins and Kindergarten Cop if you count action-comedies)... Carl Weathers was Apollo Creed in Rocky. Jesse "the Body" Ventura also became a state governor after this movie... I'm pretty sure in the 80s nobody would believe you if you said this cast included 2 future governors.

But ImO none of these Movies are really important(except maybe Predator 2 with Danny Glover) if you want to catch up on all your missed Movies . You can watch them though if you want to, they are Fun & Entertaining but not really ....Top Notch

For me, great acting is when you can't recognize the actor. Ian Holm in Alien and LOTR, Lawrence Olivier in Marathon Man and Spartacus, DeNiro in Awakenings and Cape Fear.
