"[about Ed] He's not my boyfriend!" "[handing beer to Shaun] It might be a bit warm, the cooler's off." "Thanks, babe. [winks at Ed]" Fun Fact: George A. Romero, creator of the movies to which this movie pays homage and lampoons, was so impressed with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's work that he asked them to cameo in Land Of The Dead (2005) as zombies. Multiverse Sequel Fact: Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright considered a sequel that would replace zombies with another monster, but decided against it, as they were pleased with this movie as a stand-alone product, and thought too many characters died to continue the story. The proposed title idea "From Dusk Till Shaun" did have an afterlife as a mocked up poster that can be seen in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018). Background Noise Fact: Many of the zombie extras are fans of Spaced (1999), which also starred Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and was also directed by Edgar Wright. They were recruited through the Spaced Out fan website. All of the newsreaders and television presenters are real people portraying themselves.

This is such a great film. I think my favorite scene has to be the pub room fight between Liz, Shaun, and Ed against the pub owner in The Winchester as "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen is playing. It is such a great scene and it shows how a zombie horror film can be campy and scary at the same time. I love the witty writing and how they are able to poke fun at a post zombie apocalypse world in England. Edgar Wright is a fantastic writer and director.

primary school = elementary school This movie references the 1978 Zombie Horror movie "DAWN of the Dead" in which the protagonists hide in a shopping mall similar to what you suggested. The third movie in this 'trilogy' 'The World's End' has by far the most interesting premise of all three which I will not spoil here. People on patreon are called Patrons. Have a nice day.

“We’re coming to get you Barbara!” This was a nod to the original zombie film, Night of the Living Dead. So many little things like this in the film. Also, i know this is totally off topic, but I wanted to recommend , (in addition to Now and Then) also recommend a movie called I Am Sam. If you haven’t seen this movie and are a fan of the Beatles, this is an excellent movie!

The area around my mom's house would be ideal in the event of zombies. Rural, sparsely populated, lots of forest for good natural cover and a fuel source as needed. There's tons of fruit orchards in the area, and lots of old houses with old farming equipment. It's out in the country so just about every house probably has a few few guns and ammo. Lots of good room to farm, hunt, and even find some stray livestock to take in and have lots of room for them to graze.

I think you'll love The World's End. Recapturing youth through a pub crawl. I think it's better than both. Also George Romero, who created the modern zombie culture has one recurring theme: people are their own worst enemies. Panic, greed, power and so on will always subvert cooperation and heroism. The zombies aren't the true enemy.

I enjoyed this reaction. It's nice to see a few British films thrown into the mix. And I'm glad you got a bit more enjoyment out of this one. :) It's called the "Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy" because each film takes on different genres. The "Conetto" element is just a random jokey thing to loosely connect the films. The three films are somewhat unofficial spin-off's from a British sitcom called "Spaced" which was also directed by Edgar Wright (in the same cinematic style with multiple movie references) and co-written by and starring Simon Pegg. It also co-starred Nick Frost and featured numerous other actors who were recast in the trilogy of films. One episode of "Spaced" featured a zombie and referenced the playstation game "Resident Evil 2" and the movie "Dawn of the Dead", thus inspiring Simon and Edgar to write and film "Shaun of the Dead" instead of making season 3 of "Spaced".

It had the most realistic ending to a zombie film, though: the military took care of it in about a day. People are too obsessed with headshots, and think the only way to kill them is to get in close with a melee weapon or get a perfect headshot. I think they'd figure out pretty quickly how to lure them into big, open areas and blow them to smithereens. A cruise missile isn't gonna blow up everything EXCEPT their brains...

Primary school is what your elementary school is called in the U.K. and in Ireland. We have primary school to about age 12, then secondary school (your high school) to 17 or 18, and after that college/university. Another difference in the U.K. and Ireland is that we don't refer to college/university as 'school' like Americans do. If you say school in the U.K. or Ireland, people assume you are talking about school up to the age of 18. So if you're an American in your 20s and you say "I'm majoring in History at school", someone from the U.K. or Ireland might think 'School? In your 20s? Wow he must be slow..."

There's kind of an unofficial sequel to the Cornetto Trilogy, different director, different supporting cast, probably a different studio, definitely a different country, the US, but it has Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in a buddy comedy, so it has some of the same feel, and it came out right after the Trilogy, sort of along similar timing. Anyway, Paul is a good movie, a send up of Ufology and Sci-fi/fantasy/comic book/gaming convention culture, in a buddy travel comedy.

This movie is a love letter to zombie apocalypse movie. Hot Fuzz is a love letter to American cop buddy action movies. This one's funnier, imo. But if you're well familiar with American cop buddy action movie tropes, you'll get more often jokes and references in Hot Fuzz. Since you haven't been emerged in movie culture, I can see why you were ambivalent. I think I'd do well in a zombie apocalypse. At least... better than my husband; he's worse than useless in an emergency. Sorry hon lol I really enjoyed your reaction.

Hija James :) If You like Zombie Movies You should (also ) watch Warm Bodies from 2013 because its ....a twist from the Usual Zombie Movies I highly recommend that one You should also watch the ....Original Trliogy from George A Romero (Night of the Living Dead (in B&W) , Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead) and if you can't get enough of them there is a not so well known Remake of Night of the Living Dead by Tom Savini (He's the Special Effect Guy for the Trilogy) from 1990 .I like the Remake even more than the Original (which is Great nonetheless) .Night of the Living Dead(the Original and the Remake too) and Dawn of the Dead should Go to your Bucket List , Day of the Dead and the other ones not so much , Oh and the 3rd Part of the Cornetto Trilogy is The World's End .I'm looking forward to Your Reaction on that one

I hated The World's End, but I was 30 when it came out so I think the subject matter just hit too close to home. It's like, I had outgrown partying all night with friends and drinking my body weight in beer. But nor did I want to become some workaholic drone who only ever talks about what lawn care or what route he took driving somewhere. I'm from the midwest, I have SEEN this transformation where people who were once fun and interesting people to be around turn into clones of their parents. And if you did ANYTHING other than this, you were not considered a real adult. And that still hasn't been resolved.

Actually, this movie handled that theme much better: Shaun matured by the end AND still made having fun a priority.

There are more movies that have Simon Pegg and Nick Frost teaming up together. You should watch Paul next. That one is a US movie. They play a couple of friends that are touring the US in an RV visiting famous UFO landmarks, when they meet an Alien named Paul and give him a ride.

1. Primary School = grade/elementary school 2. Secondary = high school 3. Tertiary = college Only america has Middle school. Everywhere else, 8th grade is just the first year of high school.

The movie Inheritance ( 2020 ) starring Simon peg was considered a flop but I thought it was great. Maybe 2020 just ruined it's chances A woman's well off father dies but leaves her only a key . It's to an old bunker in the woods behind the house . When she goes in Simon peg is chained to a wall . Only serious role ive seen him play and I thought he did great .

I think I could deal with slow zombies, too. It would still be rather disturbing, though, since it’s a bunch of reanimated corpses that are hostile. Even slow zombies could be a problem if they end up in large groups, and if you don’t necessarily have a completely secure place, and they don’t get tired, but you do. The circumstances of how it starts is a big factor, too, of course. If it does happen, I just hope there’s some comedy to it.
