Gary, I have enjoyed watching your encouraging videos to these students I do think you need to emphasize more posture with the upper body. Making sure the head is over the body and the shoulders and hips are in alignment. I started with a background in ballet, so I learned all that in class. I think you can translate this to the ice. Hi Belva, Your points are well taken, and I do believe that upper body posture can enhance both aesthetics and technique. Most of us have head forward and rounded shoulders, especially as we get older. I have been working on this and reminding myself frequently about upper body posture in simple skating moves. It takes a while to integrate good posture and make it second nature. I have not focused on it so far in these videos because I dont think it is the top priority, frankly, but perhaps this is a potential topic for a future video. Thanks again for your input!
