As much as I love the heavy version of this song, this one just has all the feels. Su's ability to convey emotions with her voice and the look on her face is just so good. This is the only time it was performed as far as I know, and it's a shame it isn't performed anymore, as I'd love to hear Su sing it now with her more matured voice, although it would likely tear my heart out.

This version of the song never fails to make me cry. Not only the vulnerable breaks in Su's voice, but the fact that you can see the emotion on her face. Even with these two talking over the top..

Nice one, thanks! This version is absolutely beautiful and so emotional (thanks for the tears btw LOL). The way Su performs is something out of this world. She's able to convey all the emotions: that sad little face, all her movements (not to mention her singing) moves me so deeply. There is also a theory that says that she actually shed some tears near the end (see her makeup while she's on the cross on BABYMETAL Death which is the next and last song of the concert). Nice again & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。You should recall that a girl who just turned 16-year old sang like this. Although I love this unfinished version very much, it is not good idea to listen to it on Christmas day. It is too sad and emotional 😢

Y'all just dropping all these babymetal vids like Santa. I love it. You could've spread it through one or two months, but this consistency is very much appreciated. Thank you very much, I friggin love this version. Su got me tearing up every time when her voice breaks.

Su-Metal was crying so hard in this song her mascara ran down her cheek like a river. In the next song, Death when she was crucified they did a closeup and you could see the tracks of her tears. @ 5:35 in this reaction video you can see her mascara running. The statue is a main prop for the start and finish of the concert. Starts with Ave Maria and ends with Death and the statue crumbles paying homage to the "And Justice For All" Metallica Lady Justice statue.

Just as a note, the statue is often thought as being the Madonna by us westerners, it is actually "The White Lady" or the Chinese name is Kwan Yi, the goddess of compassion and mercy. I don't know the Japanese name for her sorry.

This version was released as a studio version on the Japanese limited edition of their first album. You should also not necessary react, but check out "Over the Future" by the "Karen Girls" which features Su before Babymetal. It was a Anime title song. Babymetal also did a live version of the song and that's on YT too.

There is a great story behind their live version of Over the Future. The story goes that when Yui was very young her whole family were very sick and as she was so young she wasn't allowed into the ward, to keep her amused the hospital played music for her and she loved "Over the Future" by the Karen Girls, she said it gave her hope and power and she dreamed of being a Karen Girl. When her family was well they took her to see the last concert of the Karen Girls and Yui sang all the songs and did all the dance moves. Yui said doing the Babymetal version with Su was the greatest moment of her life. This concert's last 3 songs were Headbanger, then this beautiful version of Akatsuki and then they closed the show with a performance of their song 'Babymetal Death' which I don't think you've seen. You should see it. Because it's one of the most Metal performances I've seen in 45 years of seeing Metal bands: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLiTbMeTzM-mgH0.html - Babymetal Death at Legend 97. Oh, and you're right with the pronunciation of Akatsuki as with a silent 'u', so AK-AT-SKEE. Another great reaction, btw and Happy Christmas!! PS LVT totally correct about minor keys evoking sadness and being used in film scores.

Decent way to spell it out. To think in Japanese, it’s four ‘letters’ as follows: A-Ka-Tsu-Ki. Ah, kah, Sue, key. And the vowels are ALWays the same (e is eh?aA like abc; o is oh, oh my god!). Same as in Spanish btw. Fun right?!

@@timgove5337 It was always fun when I was teaching English for 30 years in Spain, India and the UK, yes. Don't quite understand why you use the term 'letters' but then use syllables to illustrate your meaning. Not sure what the capital ALW in 'always' is for and, while one of the syllables you use is 'Tsu' (TZOO) you then use 'Sue' (SOO) to explain that. Yo hablo Espanol and I'd have to disagree on the similarity to Spanish. 7/10. See me afterwards for extra homework. As you say, English is fun!

Don’t mind the critique, but (for now) stand by what I say. Doesn’t have the subtleties it deserves, but in Japanese “alphabet”, consonants always include a subsequent vowel, resulting in each alphabetic character getting a “beat”/not quite a letter nor syllable). (exceptions: some n’s, and some silent trailing u’s). Tsu character is hard to pronounce for native Englishers, but sue is close. TS is one of their consonants. And there’re “only 5” vowels, although to me having Ro and Ryo is kind of a cheat. But they write Ryo as RiYo, but the i is silent. Btw, I dropped out of Japanese! Three years of Spanish?, mostly forgotten. But I do have years of submersive Japanese, but LIStening only... and I guess I lazily use a few extra caps for emphasis? Cultural differences can be fascinating. (Armchair) Etymology too 😉

The fox sign is the sign of the Inari shrine in Japan.　And INARI is another name for fox. It is often said that the Inari Shrine was founded by the Nestorians who came to Japan in ancient times. INARI could mean INRI (IESVS NAZARENVS REX IVDAEORVM)

Ahh yes, right before she was sacrificed and reborn as a metal goddess. Kinda like this song is her saying farewell to mortality. I know LVT did a reaction to this video with someone else, but the version you did didn’t have subtitles and you guys didn’t really know the story, the girls, or what was going on. I think you need to revisit “BABYMETAL Death” as that is the song that directly follows this and finishes the story of Su-Metal’s ascension. Do this video, the one people normally link doesn’t have subtitles, this one does: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jKtjZ9CD1c-agZ8.html Honestly, if you guys could figure out a way to do a whole concert reaction and could do the entire “Legend 1997” concert that would be so cool. Watching the individual songs is one thing, but their concerts as a whole really just hits different. It’s an experience. I know Amuse tends to NOT block anything from the 2014 Budokan and before. “Legend 1997” was in 2013, so all those songs are safe to react too. Not sure about the whole concert as one video though lol

I would like to know about the statue as well. At the end of the last song it falls apart, which I think would be hard to do in a realistic way with a plastic or foam model (also, I guess it would still be dangerous due to the huge pieces). I always assumed it was a projection, but I don’t know. Edit:I'm probably wrong about the projection, just notices that there are lights visible behind it...

I 10000000% recommend you please listen to "Babymetal NO RAIN NO RAINDOW - Legend S Baptism XX" its the live bluray/dvd version posted* May 2018. That specific one** is amazing, it is a Su metal Solo Live performance for her 20th birthday where she's joined by a piano and a string enable with the band and it is SOOOO emotional.lots of hand motions for you too. You can hear the emotion in Su's voice. people have wept. I also sent $5 via PayPal the donation link- i dunno if there's a specified amount. Thank You - Please.

Both versions are correct. Japanese has 3 mode: slow speech, normal speech and fast speech. In slow mode You pronounce every mora (mora is similar to our syllables), in normal mode "u" is often silent, in fast speech there is even more cutting corners and some "i" are dropped as well. Word "Kitsune" is another great example: S: Kitsune/Akatsuki N: Kitsne/Akatski F: Ktsne/Akatski Cheers :) BABYMETAL 🤘🦊🤘

@@piotrtoborek2442 It is true that the U can be pronounced. For example, often in songs I hear the U pronounced in words like 'desu'. I say Akatsuki is pronounced with 3 syllables, not 4, because that is the way Su pronounces it in the song and that is the way I always hear Japanese speaking people pronounce it in interviews or KZfaq videos.

Well we do do it for fun and don't worry about over analyzed interpretation. Thus the organic vibes. If you feel we are doing it for clout with band you are simply wrong and reaching. I promise. We know and have no problem admitting clout chasing. Bands we for sure will never do that do. Baby metal, and black pick. You can take that to the bank.
