Great reaction.🦊🤘 This video was released a couple of months ago to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their first album being released - as you saw, 'BABYMETAL Death' was the first song on that first album. They had not played it live since 2017 because it is an intro song and they are introducing themselves by name, but they couldn't use it with just two official members and the original third member Yuimetal didn't appear at all after October 2017 and officially announced she was leaving the band in October 2018. This performance was on 2nd April 2023 - the first concert with Momometal as an official member, so they appeared on crosses to represent that this was the reincarnation of BABYMETAL as a trio and 'BABYMETAL Death' was back ... I don't know if you heard the crowd cheer particularly loudly when she introduced herself as "Momometal desu". The whole song is based on a pun. The English word death (which is the sort of thing many metal bands like to sing about) sounds to a Japanese speaker like the Japanese word desu (the U is silent) spoken with a slight lisp. Desu means to be - so desu = I am, we are, it is etc. Basically the lyrics for this song are: "B_ A_ B_ Y_ M_ E_ T_ A_ L" ... "I am Su-metal", "I am Moametal", "I am Momometal" "We are BABYMETAL" ... "Death Death Death Death Death Death Death Death". You may want to see the 'Legend 1997' performance where they were celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday in December 2013. That one was a really special performance. Being an introduction song they would normally play it right at the start of the concerts (it is a great way to get the crowd hyped and joining in straight away), but that was one of the special occasions where they played it later in the show - for that one it was the finale. Oh, Su-metal mimed that scream - that sort of guttural scream is one of the few things she does not do and doing that in this song one of the few times you will see her pretend.

Welcome back to the Foxhole. They're celebrating 10 years anniversary of the first album and along with this they released a Gimme Chocolate!! challenge on social media. They've been playing this blaster intro during the World Tour 2023/2024. This was the first "Babymetal Death" version with MomoMetal as an official member and it was a come back song after December 2017 iirc. They did Babymetal Death Shin Version at Budokan 2021 but it's a way different version. Btw don't miss out the live version at Legend 1997 in 2013, it's even more shocking and impactful with the theatrical performance and one of the rare time they used it as an ender.✝️ Anyway always remember that we are -NotACult- 🦊🤘💀

When someone wants to know the names of the members of BabyMetal, you can recommend them to listen to BabyMetal Death. Because the four lines the girls sing are their names - I'm SU-METAL, I'm MOAMETAL, I'm MOMOMETAL, We're BABYMETAL 💀 DEATH DEATH DEATH 💀

Babymetal Death is sort of bitter sweet for me because the music is so good but I don't get to hear Su-Metal sing. This song has a special meaning but there are others who are much better at explaining that than I am. There is also a special version of this song called Babymetal Death Legend 1997 that has an even more special meaning. You should watch that one as well.

Not only does 'SU-METAL DESU' mean she's introducing herself, it's also her super-hero transformation phrase. Like on Sailor Moon, Usagi says 'Moon Prism Power!' and turns into Sailor Moon, Suzuka Nakamoto shouts 'I AM SU-METAL' and becomes possessed by the spirit of the Fox God and transforms into the Metal Goddess SU-METAL. The magical girl who transforms into a hero is a huge trope in Japan, comparable to Disney princesses in the west. BABYMETAL DEATH! follows the trope and it's the moment that they all transform into their magical alter egos at the start of the show. 🦊 🦊 🦊 🖖 ❤

Well in fact this song is ancient. They were taught to use a stage persona. To help them find into their persona this song was written but it was written for three mebers, so when Yui left them in 2017 they no longer coukd use this song, till in April 2023 Momoko became their third Member. And this was her firstcsong as a new Babymetal.

To really understand this song you have to remember that they are singing Japanese. The Japanese Word for ti be is Desu, but since the u at the end is silent it sounds like death in english. So tge comlete text of this song is I am Su Metal,... We are Babymetal. And in fact it couldn't contain more words it was essential that they were protected by their persona.
