_Rin Rin Rin!_ 🦊🤘⏰ Thanks for coming back with this re-reaction (?) and more recent live version, glad to see you're feeling better now. Doki Doki MORNING is where everything started, they got 11 and 12 yo when the group was created in 2010 with this song but the official MV (Edit version) was released a year later. The girls look so young i myself was thinking they got less than 10 yo when I met them with this song around that time and they got no other song. The backing band you saw here are hired actors called "baby-bones", you'll see them performing live during early shows until 2014, after that Kami Band took their places as a real band on stage. They're singing about waking up and going to school while worrying about make-up and usual girl stuff, this a metal song after all 🤘 There's an Air Dance version of this, with the girls dancing in front of the camera in this same room. There's also a funny commentary vid made by the girls telling us more details about the backstage on this song. You can enjoy the live version of this with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 and after Budokan 2014, they also performed this at Budokan 2021 celebrating their 10 years and last year they introduced the Metalverse era and subgroup with this song performing together in the same stage and introducing a big surprise you just saw after the MV, you can see only three of them but the subgroup later performed at their own live shows with 5 members all of them coming from the same Sakura Gakuin roots except for one of the youngest member. You already met them at FOX_FEST Festival going back as a trio group and playing with Asterism as a backing band last weekend. They started doing BM covers but now they got exclusive songs and already two official live MV in their own place "Metalverse", song title are "Crazy J" and "Naked Princess" if you wanna check those out in your own time. You will also see them performing together Karate at PIA Arena MM but wait to get there and watch the live at Download Festival 2016 version or just the official MV. Next suggestion to keep enjoying kawaii metal roots: - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. Thanks for sharing this and see you next time. 🦊🤘🔥

@@JohnnyReacts1 Don't mention JohnnyMetal, btw the "baby-bones" are no longer part of the backing band after 2014 but still they're like mascots of the group and sometimes you will see them around in certain live shows, you can see them showing up at Headbanger!! live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 as well last weekend at FOX_FEST not only on the stage as DJ but also cheering up the fans in the hall of the venue and teaching how to follow c&r (call and response) on certain songs such PA PA YA!! It's fair to say that over the years, The One pondered how team BABYMETAL would handle the girls getting older. Well dropping the kawaii aspect was certainly one option but fast forward a few years and guess what? The 'transformation' has already happened and it wasn't noticeable how it was achieved! The kawaii is still there but the music is mature. They didn't lose popularity - in fact they seem to be picking up even MORE momentum. They are pretty much the benchmark for live touring bands to aspire to be. And they are still a gateway for people into metal music. They've never veered away from the initial MO. I'm still soured by what happened in 2018 but to give him his due, Kobayashi san has hit the jackpot. I guess even he can't believe how things have turned out.

Babymetal has long been a band that appealed to a large demographic of people. Back in 2017 they held a series of concerts called the Five Fox Festival where for each of the shows it was limited to a certain set of fans. Like only girls, only boys, only children , only over 60 years old, and one where everyone had to dress up in the white face paint like the Kami Band. It wound up with a Big Fox Fest concert that ended up being Yuimetal's last performance with Babymetal.

what you say about Babymetal is why they came together in the first place. the mission was to make metal stronger and to appeal to a younger audience. when i went to see Babymetal in 2019 at The Forum in LA i saw what you saw in that the people going to a show is so diverse from old to young, male to female, to different races. it appeals to everybody. it is like a gateway to metal. and it became a gateway to the west for Japanese metal. look at the Japanese metal scene now. you have some awesome bands and they have to thank Babymetal for opening the door for them. i have been a fan since late 2013 so i have seen the progression of the band and it is the only band i will go see. once you see them live, even at a smaller venue other bands don't even come close to their shows in my opinion. whether they play in front of 2000 or 20,000 they give the fan a show and they give 110%. yes i have been to quite a few and i have been so disappointed in them because they suck live and never sound like you hear on the cd but Babymetal sounds better live than the cd. seeing them in Japan at one of the big shows is on my bucket list.

Great reaction! This was their very first song they released back in 2011 as part of the first Sakura Gakuin album and then later as a single, plus on their first self titled album. They sound and look super kawaii in the mv since they were still kids (I think in the mv Yui and Moa are 12). What always impresses me the most is how Su is able to change her voice, as you mentioned, to a more childish tone that is kawaii af and fits the song perfectly. Also, no matter which song they perform live, they always sound way heavier than the studio recordings, which is great. That show had an incredible production with rails/a pathway going through the whole arena from one side to the other. That made it possible to have a stage platform on either side that could go up and down and moving back and forth. Babymetal started on one side and Metalverse on the other and moved closer to each other throughout the song. Many fans were confused when Metalverse appeared but dang was it a show! I wish I was there :( Either way, if you want to see more of Su’s vocal range, check out “From Dusk Till Dawn” live at Budokan 2021! 🤘🦊🔥

Nice reaction. I'm not ashamed to admit it. I use this song as my alarm clock. Works like a charm too. Years ago, I came across Babymetal purely accidentally while looking for music on youtube, And I never stopped watching them. I like diverse music genres. Making it a lot easier for me to like their blend of music genres. Others have done it maybe for one or two songs and then they start not being so good. The fact that somehow Babymetal has been able to maintain and actually get better at blending genres is amazing. Babymetal has had some fantastic stages over the years. This one had the biggest surprise for the audience. A second group on stage totally surprised I think everyone there. Babymetal magic. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.

Thanks for this reaction. There are some other videos related to this you could consider reacting to: Babymetal did commentary videos for their early MVs. They are on KZfaq with subtitles, but no idea what the copyright situation is for those videos. The pink logo is actually a very early version of the Babymetal logo which was hardly used, but still ended up in that part of the MV. This song very much switches between pop and metal, afterwards their songs became more refined with the mixing of both. I can even tell you some early fans actually dropped off after the first album, because the juxtaposition has become less pronounced. 15:25 I can tell you something else: Babymetal has made many, many of us more open to music in general, thus you are probably also more open to accept this early Babymetal song. 17:43 Babymetal have kept the performance of this song pertty much the same, so when they were kids, they probably wanted to be careful with her voice and thus the scream might be studio of her, but it's distorted, but it's always sync. But it's also a song which haren't even been performed in the past maybe 10 years. And they pretty much always sound better live than studio, in part because they've grown up and in part because of their live energy. 18:38 Yes, Su-metal has both a feeling (even seeing colors, she probably has some form of synesthesia) and a singing style for each song. And she is actually trying to mimic herself from the past, even though her body and voice changed a lot over the almost 15 years. 19:30 The stage is obviously by team Babymetal, so the venue doesn't matter. And yes, it's moving. Babymetal has build amazing stages over the years. Something interesting about it: Babymetal never travels with a stage. They don't take it on tour. They build it at a venue ones and maybe perform multiple days, but that's all. 21:30 can you image the shock of the audience, they made it look like they transported themselves from 1 stage to the other, but that's obviously not possible. It caused a lot of confusion. This is how they introduced Metalverse ! Nothing announced, just dropped it on the fans out of nowhere. I think a good song after this could be: iine, start with the MV. 🙂

I was at this show and at first I had no idea what was going on. Are they changing quickly into different outfits? I was in a state of open-mouthed 🤣. This was the first appearance of "METALVERSE". As for the music video, before I met BABYMETAL, I was a rock fan who hated Japanese idols and songs. I also didn't like metal music that was just too loud. If I had seen this music video back then, I would have instantly turned my head away and never looked at BABYMETAL again. Luckily, my first contact with BABYMETAL was with "Megitsune". The moment I heard this song, I was instantly hooked. That was about 10 years ago. After that, I completely fell into a fox hole. As a result, I can't help but thank BABYMETAL for making my life so much more enjoyable, which is the complete opposite of what it used to be. I welcome your change of mind about BABYMETAL. The part where you can see first Yui and Su then Moa and Su where you said you can see their personalities shining through, always reminds me of when Su said that she'd assumed the 'big sister' role to the younger girls. Haha, amazing, love your reactions! You're right, when I first heard Babymetal (Gimme Chocolate), I really wanted to not like it. But Babymetal has that magic about them, and some how, my browser magically started to search for more Babymetal... 2 weeks later, I was watching Sakura Gakuin videos (their "parent" idol group), AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE POP MUSIC!! 🤣 The guys in skeleton costumes are "Baby Bones". In the early days, Babymetal couldn't afford a live band, so actors in skeleton costumes pretend played instruments while music was played to a track. While we all love the real band, the Kami Band, there is a special place in our hearts for Baby Bones for supporting Babymetal in their infancy. For the live, yes, Kami Band always hits way harder than the studio, especially compared to their earlier studio productions. I don't think Su is screaming here, the few times Su "screams" are lip-synced, except in Headbanger, Su does do clean screaming there. There is only 1 Babymetal member who has done some "bleeeghs". I think you can guess who 😆🍑. 21:38 - Your face, LOL! Imagine how much more confused you would have been if you haven't been to Fox Fest with the knowledge of sister group Metalverse, hahaha! This was Makuhari Messe, and this concert was Babymetal Returns (Jan 2023). This was before Momo became an official 3rd member (Apr 2023), so she still doesn't have a mic yet. All the backing vocals are Moa. This was the very first live performance from Babymetal since their 1.5 years hiatus starting mid-2021, so the crowd was extra crazy lol. Fun times, look forward to more, sir! 🤘🦊

Heads up, I'm going to use the word gimmick 10 times in this post.. It was perfectly understandable and reasonable to think babymetal wouldn't last back then. They looked very 'gimmicky'. But now we all know they were never gimmicks. Being young, Japanese, or pioneering a radical new sub-genre of metal is not a gimmick. If Babymetal is a gimmick for being different, then so are Sabbath and Metallica. I used to be OK with people referring to them as a gimmick that outgrew the gimmick, but I'm not anymore after realizing they were just so unique. Fox Gods, crucifictions, and so on are obvious gimmicks for fun. But Babymetal are a group that 'have' gimmicks but are not gimmicks themselves. There is no way i would have thought they would have so much drive and ambition as they have if i saw this back then.

Moa mentioned in an interview that if people want learn the dances, they should start the with first album as the the difficultly increases with each album. Good job not only noticing that there's suddenly two groups performing but also that the stages are moving towards each other. This was the first appearance of the (at that time unnamed) Metalverse group and people feared that they would replace Su and Moa in the future. But luckily with the addition of Momo they are continuing with Babymetal. It's interesting that they did not play this song in 2018-2020 after Yui quit. They only perform it on special occasions recently, at their ten year anniversary shows at the Budokan in 2021, the Babymetal Returns shows in January 2023 (from which the live version you watched is taken) and the Legend MM shows in March this year.

You haven’t got into Sakura Gakuin yet as far as I know but you get a real sense of them there , their warm heartedness and their sense of humour shine through. I have yet to hear anyone who has had even the slightest involvement with the band have anything but kind words of admiration for them. Some recently described them as great fun, “low maintenance ” and a joy to work with. They also really, really like each other which is, as we know, highly unusual in the entertainment business. My intro to Babymetal was Megitsune some months before Karate was released. As i mention now and again 😅 I was very taken in by the music and Su-metal's singing. Had it been another song and video I doubt I would have given them a second look. I was mostly listening to Smooth Jazz and Fusion plus an eclectic mix of folk and Celtic music. I was only on KZfaq as a lark and was listening to drum covers and Singing contest shows and a capella groups. So I was not expecting to like the metal aspect of the music as much as I did. I binge watched all of the Babymetal official Music Videos that were not live performances, having been soured on live performances by the low quality recordings in the 1970's. I thought too they would only last until the girls grew up and left school. Then Karate MV was released and I was so impressed that I started reading comments and watching every video even off their channel. It was when I saw Road of Resistance - Live in Japan that I understood they had long-term staying power.

Great reaction, what those that say Babymetal isn't metal don't understand is how much metal has changed and will be changing over time, metal isn't only what you currently think it is, it has always been that way with metal in my eyes, considering all the different type of metal there is even before Babymetal, from the 60's 70' to 80' through out to now it has changed so much and with every new change there is always a gang of grumpy people going "This isn't metal because of XYZ".... My take is, do you like the music? Yes? Then why does it matter what it is called? And if no, no one forces you to listen to it, just move along to the music you like... Su-metal even says in an interview that they wanted to make metal music that young girls could relate to. So they sang songs like "Doki Doki Morning" being about getting up and getting ready (I believe for school), "Uki Uki Midnight" which is about a girls sleepover and getting full on snacks, "Headbangerrrrr" which is about a 15 year old girl going to her first metal concert, "Gimme Chocolate" about wanting chocolate but worried about her weight, and "Catch Me If You Can" which is about playing tag, or hide and seek with a Japanese ogre, just to give a few examples.🤘🦊🤘

Also other things. Su was in a group called Karen Girls before Babymetal. Sakura Gakuin did music videos and skits and all kinds of promotional videos. Babymetal started as a subunit of Sakura Gakuin. There is a really cute video of Yui and Moa's audition tape for Sakura Gakuin. Su sang a lot of songs at Actors School of Hiroshima. They're on KZfaq. Babymetal covered Over the Future by Karen Girls at a concert. Su covering herself.

I'm SO glad you got this live version of Doki Doki - it's bloody awesome (for me I was staggered when I finally realised what was going on - I'm so used to seeing mix-ups of their concerts that for a little while I didn't bat an eyelid :P) - the mirror dancing is wonderful and the lead singer of Metalverse has a very good voice too (not like Su's but good) and she oozes personality 😂

4:10 "They didn't like it, but they wanted to like it." That's EXACTLY how I felt when I watch a full BABYMETAL song for the very first time. I was their first time being on a nationally broadcasted US late night TV show, Late Night w/ Stephen Colbert, an they performed "Gimme Chocolate". Being in my late 40's at the time, I was not interested in listening to songs sung my young teen girls, BUT Mikio's guitar solo in that song was sick AF and the music was so good and heavy! I didn't like it, but I kinda did, so I wanted to really like it. It was about 2-3 years before I gave BABYMETAL another chance. Luckily, KZfaq recommended to me, "BABYMETAL - Akatsuki (Live at Budokan Black Night)" from 2014, and Su-metal dragged my soul down the "foxhole"! I've been in the foxhole ever since!🤘🦊🤘

Basically part of her choreography. It's played through track. If anyone tries to tell you otherwise, simply disregard that portion of their comment. They are misinformed. Great video, btw. But I cannot re-record because then it is not a genuine reaction. I think many bands have gone through discrimination and hatred, but you know it's okay, this is what makes you stronger. There is not much more that is ROCK and ROLL than that. They have stuck with it, and have proven themselves that they are the genuine article 100 times over.

In the begining they really wanted to push the idea of a younger Babymetal but this idea was retired when they saw how strong the appeal of the older girls was especially in the US and Europe and no Babymetal has more or less the idol idea and with their new Image they might find better opportunities (RaTaTaTaTa) while Metalverse tried to establish itself as a 5 person Group and their own songs, till a girl retired fro. Amuse and another department at once used the oportunity to secure their star after a Movie it was simply a bettervidea for her to concentrate on acting and drop the dancing, so they had to makeca new Choreo for FoxFest. It looks like this oroject goes to production hell. It is rather obvious that they try to move Miko. With a new Workflow and the Fact that Babymetal now reach young Girls the Market Potential for Metalverse seems to go down.

This is just their Standard Crawler that they use at bigger japanese venues. They really push the lifetime through this machines. The smaller venues in the US or Europe don't need this and the trsnsport costs simply make this unsustainable but in Japan it really works for them. And the significant difference is how her voice matured. I think this is the voice that Koba Envisioned. Zhat female voices and Metal works was a well known fact. This was the introduction of METALVERSE (then unnamed). I had tried to get you to react to the Makuhari Messe DDM before you went to Fox Fest and failed. 😆 Also new performances are always better than older performances, in my opinion. The theme, aesthetic, of Doki Doki Morning, as well as their other early songs iine!, Ijime Dame Zettai, Headbanger, and probably some of the ones that were in the writing process like Uki Uki Midnight and Megitsune, were all being come up with when BM was the Heavy Music Club in Sakura Gakuin. So them and their image were designed with that in mind. If you want to learn some of their history and background, you should consider reacting to the latest guide to BABYMETAL released in April titled The not so Extensive Guide to BABYMETAL.

@Hymnodic
@Hymnodic Ай бұрын
@@JohnnyReacts1 I don't think it would give anything away. There's no BM music in it except like one small clip of a song in the background at points. It was designed so as not to spoil the music for reactors. The downside of that is that if you are going in expecting a lot of BM clips to show off their music, that isn't there. There are a couple small clips of Sakura Gakuin songs included though.

👍 👍 Great reaction/review/analysis. I have seen your thought evolution on BABYMETAL mirrored many times by other reviewers. I think many of us are the same way and we become more eclectic in our music preferences as we grow older. Concerning Suzuka's vocal abilities I am looking forward to seeing you react to other LIVE song/performances such as Shanti Shsnti Shanti LIVE (avoid the Glastonbury Festival performances as the BBC did a horrible job with sound production- I think the vast majority will agree - and avoid the Official MV as the kaleidoscope effects prevalent throughout the MV blocks the beautiful choreography). Also Suzuka's vocals on Kagerou LIVE will amaze you. And these are just two of many. Suzuka is in my opinion THE best female vocalist on the planet.
