Hi guys.
I'm Tyler, I'm a 31 year old actor with a love for music and entertainment. I decided to start doing reaction videos as a way of getting more confident in front of camera and also to explore different genres of music and entertainment. I grew up listening to British indie bands, but I own a wide variety of music.
This is my second ever BABYMETAL reaction and I loved it!
I do not own the rights to the material and I do not wish to ever make claim to owning the rights to the music, This is purely a review and reaction to Babymetal. Owners video in the link below.
Original Video - • BabyMetal Legend of 19...
Please recommend more of their songs and other artists you think I may like.

Excellent reaction. BABYMETAL'S virtuoso backing band is the KAMI BAND (KAMI means God, spirit, devine being) & they often dress in traditional Japanese burial robes & corpse paint/makeup. They are some of the best musicians in Japan & have been with BABYMETAL since 2013 or 2014. 🦊🤘

Rob Zombie said that years ago, “leave it to the Japanese to make effin death metal cute!” In this vid it was Singer Su’s 16th BDay dec 2013, hence she’s legend of (born) ‘97. They’d started the project at barely 11, barely 11, and still 12, exactly 10years ago now, just three years before this show, and really didn’t do much the first year, no funding, ridiculous idea, sub group of a small new group, making their own clothes (see DokiDokiMorning, the only official video from the first year). So that crowd was only two years into prompting them as a group, 1 year after separating from their parent group (Sakura Gakuin, blossom school, video series of musical charm school for idols to become ideal). Not that they didn’t have a head start. Dancer Yui had been a child model and on multiple tv shows (another idol school showcase, and a soap opera or something), and Su was a infant model, 5yr old runway model, and in singing dancing and acting in arts school since 8. Her previous group had appeared before similar crowds by age 10. And even tho babyMetal was poor and the pet project of one unknown producer on the team (who’d wanted asu’s voice for years, knowing it’d pierce thru a metal cacophony), the parent group Sakura Gakuin hired the best, eventually incl the world class musicians seen here, but they had a world class choreographer (olympics, huge pop groups, modern dance art) from day one. Fascinating story of an organically grown corporate group with great production but openly naive about making it from scratch. The producer had the vision, told the musicians not to hold back, but the girls jusdid the showtune thing with passion and learned metal on the fly. There’s a video of their polaroids with superstars; that’s what’s most metal to me, being backstage at 15 in a tutu and autographing your CD for Paul Stanley, posing with Alice Cooper, with Immortal in full gear, touring with RHCP or Korn and having them, or Dragonforce, or rob Halford etc come up to play songs together. As Rob said in interviews, they’re fearless. Best “performance” might be legend 97 “Death”. For variety try legend XX No Rain No Rainbow. Or start at beginning with DokoDokiMorning then “iine!”. My favs are powermetalish: ijime dame zettai live 2014 sonisphere (just after anti bullying PSA), Akatsuki Budokan 2014 (red? Or black? night), Amore at wembly; also Suncopation, esp Tokyo Dome. And the two girls’ songs Song 4 written by themselves, and Onedari Daisaksen (mission: beg from dad). Here’s their first ever interview, too freakin cute, unbelievable kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eseXn66UqrDWh40.html This guy has great translations, words are better than many think, poetic even after translation. Check the notes for thei quintessential MVs Megitsune or Karate before you watch it ... du-metal.blogspot.com/2013/07/megitsune.html?m=1

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' was one of their early hits. Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when the song and music video were released. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could relate to. At that age she was performing, rather than going to concerts. I wish she got more straight up rockers like this one, she can certainly deliver them. Probably their closest song since is 'Kagerou', which started off as a Su solo known as 'Tattoo' until it got an official song title.

Great reaction! I have been a huge BABYMETAL fan for three years now, and I still don't understand how they are doing it. It shouldn't work, but it just does. But I don't even mind not understanding it, I just accept them as a phenomenon. The girls had been members of an Idol group called "Sakura Gakuin" for several years, which is led by a talent agency called Amuse. There they had lessons not only in singing and dancing, but also talking, acting and I think modeling as well (and other more "mundane" skills like calligraphy). Su, the lead singer, has had quite some experience before that, she started at around age 4. This show was a day after her 16th birtday, the others were 14 at the time. Not all of their songs are bangers like the two you have heard. The most unique element is their blending of genres, mostly Metal and J-Pop, but many others as well. So some of their songs are more on the poppier side, but they are always great and work perfectly. To illustrate my point, I'd like to recommend a newer, quite different song called "Shanti Shanti Shanti": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nbeeesKFnNHGpI0.html

In 1976 I went to see Black Sabbath live in Cardiff and in Feb this year (just before Earth closed), I got to see Babymetal live - same city, different venue. In the intervening 44 years, I've watched, listened to and mostly enjoyed seeing the genre of Metal evolve from Sabbath's Heavy Metal into many different sub-genres - Thrash, Prog, Doom, Power, Death, Nu, etc, etc, etc but nothing has been as fulfilling as the brilliant invention by KobaMetal, Babymetal's producer, of his own sub genre of Kawaii Metal (Cute Metal). The dissonance of these highly energetic trio of girls and the superb Metal musicianship of the justly named Kami Band (it translates as God Band) is always enthralling - and, to be honest, no other Metal band I've ever seen has had the ability to make me headbang, smile widely and even cry occasionally, especially during just one song! They shine brightest live as the production and stage management is beyond compare and nearly always on an epic scale (they sold out the 55,000 seater Tokyo Dome for 2 nights running, for example, as well as Wembley, Budokan and many others and I was very lucky to see them in a 2000 standing venue in Cardiff). Their first appearance in the UK is worth seeing, at Sonisphere, in front of 65,000 Metal heads waiting to see Iron Maiden headline, especially their final song, which was all about stopping bullying, not a subject many Metal bands have addressed! Link to that: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iNVdksaTy8rWiXk.html. As you say, you wouldn't want to have to fight them for your place in the lifeboat for, as Rob Zombie told some idiots who questioned his Metal credentials after he'd said he loved them "They roll harder than you do" and "They have more energy than 90% of the bands we play with". They work harder than anyone to perfect their tightAF choreo and, with that, the band's musical abilities and Su's incredibly powerful voice (she's a soprano with a range of C4 to G#5) never fail to impress live. Welcome to the Fox Hole and I've subscribed in hope of watching you fall deeper.

Great reaction and everything you said about them was spot on. The energy levels never drop off from the very start to the end of every song and every show ... and I do mean every show, no matter the size of the venue and regardless of whether they can have all the bells, whistles, fireworks and smoke cannons or not. They never give less than 100% effort in absolutely every aspect of their performance from the vocals to the choreo (and well spotted, that is designed not only to help interpret the songs but to get the crowd fully immersed and involved so they become a part of the performance), the musicianship, the lighting and all the other things involved that have escaped my head for the moment. You have some suggestions for more BABYMETAL reactions already ... I'm just hoping you cover every song they've ever done and then look at different performances too. They will never stop surprising you, every song is different and they are like no other band I have ever seen.

@@firstact5704 I'll second the request for Road of Resistance (Live in Japan) Official. It is absolutely amazing... AND the guitar parts were written (and performed on the studio version) by DragonForce. Be warned, however, that that song gets blocked a lot. So if you DO happen to do the song and it gets blocked, what a lot of reactors do is upload the video to another video site, like Dailymotion or something, and then on KZfaq upload a short 1min clip explaining the situation, with a pinned comment that has the URL to the dailymotion (or wherever)

"I don't know why it works, but it does" As someone who has been a fans since 2016, I'm still not 100% sure, but my best explanation: everyone involved is very talented and everything is top notch. So it's not cheesy. This show was a birthday show for the main singer (Su-metal) she had turned 16 the day before. That means the other two (Yuimetal and Moametal) were 14 at this show. They are nothing but consummate professionals. The she was in 2013, they started in 2010. So when they were 13 and 12. Nobody thought it was possible to make metal cute/adorable ! :-) It all started when a producer who was working with bands was asked to work at the kids division, because demand for bands in Japan was in decline. So arriving at the kids division he looks around for talent. Usually in pop, etc. they would make projects based on a concept and then find people to do it (also means they can be replaced). But he came from bands and looked for talent first. Their was this talented singer, Suzuka. But her style was to sing very loud... it got him thinking: what would fit her style ? Maybe just maybe her style would fit the loud music that is my passion. Because this was such a crazy idea no financial help, etc. was provided by the company. Or even allowed him to work with her on this idea, so the idea was on ice for at least a year is not more. Until a situation existed where he could work with her as part of a bigger group.

Speaking of scary looks, Su-Metal's so-called death stare is actually the burning gaze of Alexander the Great, which seems to peer into your very soul. Queen Su has a couple other things in common with the mighty Macedonian conqueror. First, there is her self-avowed desire to conquer the world, albeit in her case through music. Then there is the story about a much earlier performance at Saitama Super Arena in 2008. Back then Su was the youngest member of a pop/idol trio called Keren Girl's. Having never played such a large venue before, the two older girls were naturally a bit nervous about it. Su on the other hand was so confident that she decided to take a nap before the show, and slept so soundly that someone had to go wake her. The first time I read this story it actually gave me a chill because there is an eerily similar story told about Alexander before the Battle of Gaugamela. It was then that I realized what is so special about Su-Metal. She possesses that intangible something that is the spark of greatness.

To answer your question of how old they were: Suzuka Nakamoto, the lead singer was born Dec 1997 (hence the titel of the concert, this was her 16th birthday show), Moa Kikuchi was born Jul 1999, Yui Mizuno was born Jun 1999 (both were 14 at this show). But, as you saw in the Pa Pa Ya video, Yui is no longer with the band since 2018 because of undisclosed health reasons. In her place are now three rotating support dancers called the Avengers (Kano Fujihira, who was in the Pa Pa Ya video, b. Aug 2004; Momoko Okazaki, b. Mar 2003; Riho Sayashi, b. May 1998). They rotate from show to show, sometimes there are 2 or all 3 of them working the bigger shows together and then rotate between songs. Su sings on stage since she was 6, Moa & Yui are in the entertainment business since they were 8, I think. The three of them met in their former Idol group Sakura Gakuin in 2010 and were asked to join the juon-bu (heavy music club) subunit called BABYMETAL the same year. So you were right that they are doing this for a pretty long time, even then in 2013.

Su Metal here is 16 while Moa Metal and Yui Metal are both 14. Headbanger is about a 15 years old girl going to her first Metal concert. Yui Metal (La Cigale, Paris July 1) and Moa Metal (Live Music Hall, Cologne July 3) sang this song for their 15th birthday during World Tour 2014. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jad_dtyintHYeoE.html (Clip) Su Metal changed the lyrics from 15 to 20 for her 20th birthday (See Jun 28 live broadcast).
