Yup, 7/11 and EZ Mart used to be regular hangouts during graveyard shifts because arcades would be closed, but these convenience stores were open 24 hours a day and made extra money on the arcade machines (Arcade vendors split the money 50/50 with the store).

What's especially great about that it that, Nintendo never put that version of Wild Gunman out on arcade. There was a 1974 version created by Nintendo and licensed to--of all companies--Sega for North American release, but that was not the one featured in BttF2. Meaning, there's no way he could've played it at 7-Eleven. Maybe it's one of the things that changed with the timeline?

Fun piece of trivia: At one point, there were FOUR time machines in 1955. The the one that Marty originally brought back from 1985, the one that old Biff takes back with the sports almanac, the one that Marty and Doc bring back in order to stop Biff, and the damaged one hidden in the mine. BTW, did you notice that the sheriff was the same actor who played the bald principal Strickland in the other movies?

No, it wasn't pepper Marty was spitting out onto the plate, it was lead birdshot. Sometimes when you hunt wild upland birds or waterfowl, you come across the little pellets as you eat. Nowadays the birdshot is steel, or copper or brass, but in 1885 it would have been lead. A bit harsh to be chewing and clamp down on a pellet, which is what Marty was doing. He was chewing that meat and found one of the pellets.

@DC_Prox

In the original script, Marty had some horse manure stuck to his shoes, and it was when he accidentally kicked some of that at Buford that started the chase. The consultant that they had for "Old West authenticity" said that Buford would have been an experienced farm hand and wouldn't have gotten that upset about a little bit of poop, so the spittoon gag was eventually used as the inciting incident (and it made for a better payoff when the Tannen got his comupence in poop as is now traditional).

Hi, Dasha! 1:07 This was from before my parents' time, but Howdy Doody was a children's tv show during the 1950s. It was a human and puppet show with circus and cowboy themes and a live audience of children, seated in a place called The Peanut Gallery. The main puppet was a red-haired character named Howdy Doody. 18:05 The band was played by the rock band ZZ Top. They were playing a variation of the song heard at the ending credits. 19:25 Do you remember, in Part 2, when Marty was in Cafe '80's, and he played a video game called Wild Gunmen? Marty was already familiar with the game because in 1985, he played it at the 7-Eleven store. That's what he meant when he said he learned to shoot there. I was thinking about Marty's struggle to deal with being called "chicken", "yellow" or other variations of being called a coward, and why it bothered him so much. He grew up watching his father be a coward and be called so by Biff and by others. To be called one probably bothered Marty more because of that. So he spent his life up until now, reacting strongly at the suggestion that he is like his old man. By the end, he learned that it wasn't true, and not to live by other people's opinions of him. 31:17 Marty's trick was taken from the movie A Fistful of Dollars starring Clint Eastwood. In Back to the Future part 2, the wealthy Biff in alternate 1985 was watching that scene from the movie while he was in the hot tub with the 2 women.

The shooting gallery scene was foreshadowed in _Back to the Future Part II_ when Marty played the _Wild Gunman_ arcade machine in the Café 80s in 2015. The boiler door being used as a bulletproof vest was also foreshadowed in the previous film, when Biff was in his jacuzzi and was watching the on-screen Clint Eastwood protect himself from being fatally shot. Also the whole 1885 idea was foreshadowed by the shirt that Doc was wearing in the previous film (if you look closely it has Old West-style pictures on it). When Buford was arrested, in case you were wondering why it was not Marshall Strickland doing the arresting, there is a scene in which Buford Tannen previously shot and killed the Marshall, but that scene was cut from the final print of the film.

1:02 "If you could time travel, would you go to the _past_ or to the _future?"_ Well, that's a question I answer with _increasing_ caution, I find, in light of certain developments in society. First, in either case, I would time travel _way_ out in the boonies, many kilometers away from civilization, so as to minimize the risk of being observed. Second, remember that, in the _first_ movie in this franchise, Marty traveled back to when his _parents_ were his age and unthinkingly imperiled his own _existence._ That's a caution one _must_ observe when traveling _back._ You travel back _one_ generation, you might accidentally prevent your _parents_ from getting together and having _you._ You travel back _two_ generations, you might accidentally prevent one of your sets of _grandparents_ from getting together and having one of your _parents._ You travel back _three_ generations, you might accidentally prevent one of your sets of _great-grandparents_ from getting together and having one of your _grandparents._ But third, observe the increasing prevalence of _observations_ technology. In the mid-'80's, when _Back to the Future_ first came out, security cameras were present in a _few_ places. In the mid-'90's, they were in a lot _more_ places. Nowadays, they're _everywhere._ It stands to reason that, as the decades pass, their prevalence will only _increase._ So if you're going to travel into the future, if you _really_ want to protect the timeline, you have to _hone_ your skill for keeping the _lowest_ possible profile against instruments of detection the existence of which your ability to detect is limited, depending on how _far_ into the future you want to travel. Traveling into the future presents a _different_ host of hazards, but in each case, protecting the timeline _must_ take precedence.

The third one is my favorite also. I love how they intertwined and paid tribute to the old western movies and actual history. Fun fact: The first Frisbees were actually pie tins(pans) being thrown by college students in 1948 they would yell, "Frisbie," when throwing them. A toy company named Wham-o came up with a plastic version that flew better and further than the pie tins. The band ZZTop who wrote and performed the theme song for this movie were also the band playing a time period version of the song at the Festival dance. A lot of the characters were played by actors who were famous for their roles in Western movies including Clint Eastwood movies. In the gunfight scene where Buford shoots Marty and he had a steel door from a wood burning stove under his poncho was paying tribute to a gunfight scene in a Clint Eastwood 1964 movie A Fistful of Dollars. Mary Steenburgen plays Clara. She is an Oscar-winning actress who has also been in Time travel movies in the past. This movie pays tribute to one called Time After Time. Both of these movies show Mary Steenburgen's character being someone in the time travel destination being innocently unwise to the time travel aspect but in love with the time traveler but also angry and freaking out when he tries to reveal his time travel to her, thinking he is nuts and or taking advantage of her. Then she blows the time traveler off as an as%#$le or lunatic.

Now you can never go back to a time where you haven't seen these films, and that's sad 😆. But honestly you need to see it multiple times to really catch a lot of little clever things.

One thing this story overlooked is, there is now 2 DeLoreans in 1885, The one Doc hid in the cave and the one Marty came back in, Doc could have used gas from the second DeLorean to use in the one Marty came in.

10:22 In 1955, Marty was able to outwit Biff by improvising a _skateboard_ and using it on _pavement._ In 2015, Marty was able to outwit Griff by borrowing someone's _hoverboard_ and using it on pavement and _water._ But this is _1885._ Skateboards and pavement don't _exist,_ yet. Marty's in trouble.

The big container of fluid Marty sent up into the air, then landing on Buford (Biff's ancestor) in the saloon, was chewing tobacco mixed with saliva, which the chewers would use to spit into so they wouldn't have to swallow it. it's called a spittoon. Don't you have one in your house? Just kidding, don't shoot!!! :) You're so cute..."What's that?" :) Love you, Dasha!

Maggie wouldn’t actually be Lorraine’s ancestor since she already married into the McFly’s. Lorraine is a Baines. And they don’t establish any relation between them. They just used the same actor for the bit. The writer said it might mean the McFly men are always attracted to women that look like that You know there actually was a Frisbe pie company, and college students were tossing pie playes with the company name on them. That’s how they gave the toy the brand name Frisbee There’s actually a point and click adventure video game that’s basically part 4. They made it into a comic book too. There was also a cartoon which follows Jules and Verne on time adventures

It's still possible for Maggie to be a Baines, and not a direct blood relation. Look at how many people are in the world with the last name 'Johnson', or 'Smith', and they aren't all directly related by blood.

Just saw you ask what was in that giant jar that he launched when dancing from having his feet shot at. It is a jar called a spittoon, basically back then tons of people used chewing tobacco that you put between your teeth and inner lip. This however causes you to produce lots of saliva, so these jars are meant for people to spit into so all that liquid that dumped on his chest was tons of other people’s tobacco spit
