I did that two different kinds of siennas and two different kinds of blues in a wet on wet sky and it looks really fantastic. Holy cow I've got little bits of white showing between the roof and sky and it looks super. I'm letting it dry between steps and it's taking me hours but I'm real happy with it. Holy cow!

I like you showing the finished painting in the beginning. I believe it helps me to see how to lay down the colors better. You really have a good way of conveying your techniques. Great teaching skills. Thank you.

Wow, this one really speaks to me. Amazing mix of tones. I just finished painting it-made some mistakes but, as with all our tutorials, I learned. May try it again soon. I liked having the finished painting shown early for reference. Thanks, Chris for bringing me along with you!

Wow, I really like that effect in any painting; a strong composition based between the light and dark elements. It just brings the painting up to a whole new level. It's interesting that you discussed that many really good Artists like this technique. I believe I often look for photos which have strong light and dark elements, and so maybe I'm developing my style? Thanks, can't wait to get started on this one. Yes, having the finished painting there is helpful, so we can refer back to it. This is especially helpful for our initial sketch, for when if we run into a problems, and also if we can't complete the painting in one go at it,we can refer back to the lesson. Also this shows, how we can make adjustments to our composition, which is a huge learning element. Thanks for your instruction here.

Your recent White Plaster House lesson was so wonderful, and I was so pleased with how my painting turned out, that I circled back and re-did this tutorial of the Officers' Barracks at Ft. Hancock, Sandy Hook. You mention in the video visiting there again and perhaps doing a plein air lesson -- I'm looking forward to it! Thanks as ever.

Hi Chris, I think I would have done the sky and background wash first across the whole painting and then I would have painted the darker house and mountain values. Why did you wait and cut it in around the house? Am I wrong way in my thinking somehow? Thanks! Love the variety on your channel. Stay safe!

Hi, your very welcome and yes....glazing in the sky first is a good way to go.... and something I do often. I also cut in the sky around subject matter later on during the painting too,... its good to know both processes in my humble opinion. No right way in my thoughts really. Happy Painting :0)

Love how your paintings are in real time with live narration, meaning not added in editing. I'm a slow painter, a post card size painting took me 53 minutes to paint, I normally record me painting in 4x hyperlapse

Thanks Chris. New Jersey has some pretty beaches and coastal areas. I'm from southeastern CT lots of coast on the sound and right next to RI . Always went to RI beaches. To bad I hadn't taken up painting yet. 😎😉👍

@@cpetri766 Hi Chris. Unfortunately now I live in PA just off Lake Erie. The scenes are fairly constant. Though I was surprised and shocked at 20 ft. Waves on a lake. Coming from an area where lake waves get barely a foot high.😲
