That was a very enjoyable video. I really love the mountains. No matter where you go, the mountains are where I feel the most at home. Dwayne

I drove clear around the mtn last year, or the year before. Raining by the time i got to the trail head. It never let up. Waited & waited. Kept pouring. Ate lunch in the truck. Still raining. Drove home.

Well that sucks. It is pretty rainy in the Pecos wilderness, especially July-Sept. Hope you get another chance. Thanks for watching.

Wow, I’ve never camped that high. I would definitely feel,the thin air

yep, it can give you a headache or worse if you aren't used to it. Best to camp a few thousand feet lower for a night or two before going up that high.

Its about 6.5 miles each way to Trampas lakes, with a side trip to the other lake adding another mile.

Nice was it a hard hike? What was y’all’s pack weight

Ron and John are both in good condition, workout a lot, and they both said it was hard... not because of distance but because of the altitude gain (going from 8900' to 11,500) and having to climb over so many downed trees wearing their backpacks. Ron's pack was less than 30lbs, John's was more than that. Thanks for watching!

Have you hiked to Lake Katherine? I’m curious how it compares. The distance is similar.
@RobinT-treehugger
@RobinT-treehugger 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we have a couple of videos of John & Ron doing the Lake Katherine and Santa Fe Baldy backpacking weekend. The differences in trail and conditions are the big thing, and that is due to usage. Lake Katherine and Santa Fe Baldy are busy all summer long, lots of people, lots of day hikers and backpackers, so trail is cleared already. Trampas is less known and more remote. Check out our videos of Lake Katherine for comparisons. Thanks for watching.

@@RobinT-treehugger will do. Thanks. I was surprised at the amount of blowdown in your Trampas video. It wasn’t like that last October.

Many people think New Mexico is all desert.
@RobinT-treehugger

New Mexico is about 1/3 forest covered mountains, with over 200 peaks above 10,000'. Most people think the Rocky Mountains end at the border with Colorado, but they do continue into NM.
