I read that the snails they collect the muicin from live a spectacular life because happy snails produce slime and stressed snails don't. They live and eat to their heart's content in a snail paradise over a mesh screen that let's the slime drip down to be collected underneath. I think any animal ppl use for our crazy purposes the snail is living the best life.

Veganism is a philosophy that humans don't have the right to use animals' bodies or products, and that any time a human stands to make a profit off of an animal, it's inherently wrong. Profiting off of another sentient being who can't consent or fight for their own rights is inherently dangerous for that being. Vegans aren't sometimes okay with humans using animals for our own gain - veganism is by definition against that.

Exactly. It does provide benefits to sensitive skin like mine which can't handle actives. Cosrx prides themselves saying they are cruelty free and produces amazing snail mucin essence. Its irresponsible to put such facts without research.

girl I can't tell you how much you've helped me get through my acne. I'm a cyster too, and being a vegan and cruely-free, it's been hard finding vegan, cruelty free options that help with my acne. It's been a struggle, but seeing your bright smile and and how you fought through it all gives me inspiration and motivation. Love you girl!!!!

@@mariajoana7438 yea I have!! I use The Ordinary and The Inkey List, which I honestly wouldn't hv found out about if it wasn't for bingeing Cassandra and Hyram lol! the thing is alot of the stuff isn't really working cus I have very deep cystic acne and it's super painful :(

@@opheliarathmore7829 hey, i have cystic acne too, in my teen years it was kinda okay, but now that I'm 22 its been worse and i wonder when does this end? and I'm really worried because I don't wanna have scars and right now I have a few. Just bought the peeling solution, vitamin c 23% and niacinamide... I just hope they work, which products did you find were helpful for you?

@@mariajoana7438 omg! I'm in my early teens rn I hope it doesn't get worse alfkhealkfh... For me, a spot treatment that really really works is the Succinic Acid Acne treatment from The Inkey List (vegan, cruelty free as well!). I use that stuff religiously and it helps make my cystic acne less bumpy and big, although a huge downside is that it leaves scars on my skin :( I'm a woman of colour so I get alot of hyperpigmentation, so that's probably why. You should try it out tho, it's like only 12 bucks I believe! I realllyyyy want to try the peeling solution but it's not sold in canada UGH. but I use rosehip seed oil from the ordinary cus I heard it helps fade scars! I hope your acne gets better x

The snail mucin in vast majority of products is synthetic. No snails are / were used in the production of it. It is essentially the same thing, just created in a lab. I have extremely sensitive, oily, acnetic skin, and snail mucin is a lifesaver for me. It's a mistake to write off a product just because it "sounds" like animals could be used in its creation, before looking deeper into it.

There are products that use actual snail mucin but snails are not killed when producing it. It would be extremely counterproductive. Sure, some use some shadier ways to harvest the mucin, but others like CosRX keep the snails happy and well fed in safe places that reproduce their habitat and then just place them on a mesh once in a while to roam so they can collect the mucin.

@@HamelinSong yeah!! Corsx’s Snail Mucin is basically drops from Heaven. The Essence helped me hydrate my acne skin much more better than Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin ever did.

Hi Cassandra! Just wanted to inform you that Iunik is 100% a cruelty-free brand, them and CosRx. I don't blame your reaction, when I first saw "Snail Secretion Filtrate" on the front of products, I pretty much had the same reaction as you lmao. Not to worry, they don't kill the snails! They just let them chillax on some mesh so the mucin can seep through, they collect it for the product, and then safely put them back in their regular homes to rest. Just wanted to clear up any concerns you may have had in the video. Love you and your videos, keep up the good work fellow cyster!

I was so happy when I learned recently that snails are not harmed for skin creams, I love snails and would never purchase something that would lead to more of them being harmed. To think that I can moisturize my skin with their slime and they can go on sliming and being happy, makes me happy. (sorry for the long comment I just really like snails)

Uhhhhhhhh NO. Where are you getting this information from??? The brand??? Don’t you think that it’s a bit biased for them to “report on their own ways of manufacturing?” That their going to be truthful? Have you done a lot of deep dive research into this??? ACTUALLY, snails ARE harmed often in this process. It’s not “chillax”. They dump them in pots of water with salt to make them produce more mucin and poke them with sharp objects such as needles to produce more mucin. Just cause a brand tells you that they’re “cruelty free” doesn’t actually mean that they are. 🙄🤦🏻♀️🔪

Whey definitely breaks me out, I had the worst acne when I was using it daily and it got so much better when I stopped and just started using plant based proteins. I actually notice I have the best skin when I’m eating less/no animal products.

You have to review this new Indian brand The Minimalist. Especially amidst all the drama surrounding The Ordinary being bought by Estee Lauder. The brand started out with dupe products for The Ordinary but they have expanded into their own unique products including a PHA and probiotic + prebiotics toner. Dr V here on KZfaq has already done a vidoe on it.

I love how I learn something new in every video. Never knew accutane was consumable retinoic acid. Blew muh mind. Also, I know you didn't have anyone when you were younger as far as acne, but we all truly appreciate your advice. I've never even had acne, besides a pimple here and there, until this last year. (Adult acne can go jump off a cliff) And lemme tell you, I'm so thankful for every video you make, especially when it pertains to insecurities like acne. We appreciate you, and we love you. The love you have now should overshadow any lonliness you ever felt before. Much ♥️

This whole video was just so relatable. Having parrents with no acne always telling me "just wash our face more often" was really difficult. Also being afraid of reoccurence for the rest of your life. Jesus. We gotta be strong! About acne and food, there are certain foods, like nuts that have affect our hormones, for me it's peanuts, hits me like a wrecking ball! I'm talking about mood swings and breaking out only a couple hours after consuming it. It got to a point where my boyfriend kind of hates peanuts nowadays. hahhahha

The talk about dairy always interested me. There was one food that always seemed to have a noticeable benefit to my skin, and that has been yogurt, and specifically my favorite kind skyr. I believe that has to do with the probiotic nature of yogurts, and my affinity for skyr having large sums of protein and low sugar has caused it to be always be a staple in my refrigerator. From my personal experience, the largest benefit to skin health in form of diet was to cut out processed foods and limit them.

Same been obsessed with TikTok lol also I have pictures of my eyebrows that were over tweezed 😳. My mom grew up with acne and although she didn’t have it worse than I did, she was trying to help me, she got bought proactive, acne free, mother of pearl soap, noxzema. She even told me that neutrogena made her skin dry.

Just found Cassandra and I’ve been binge watching her videos she’s so freaking funny and honest as hell which I love. I wasn’t into skincare until I found Hyram then Susan Yara so I’m a 36 yr old beginner. Thank you for the education side of skincare. I have dry skin and trying products all y’all recommend while keeping it simple has helped my skin tremendously.

So I actually use Peach Slices snail toner and it’s amazing!! I can’t speak for all products and their manufacturing, although the snails are not harmed at all! They are places on a mesh and their secretion is collected and filtered! No snails harmed!!!

Try panoxyl 10%. Apply, leave on for a couple minutes then rinse off. Its benzoyl peroxide and breaks down bacteria. I use it as an armpit wash. Relatively cheap for a large amount.

Also 🙂 the haircare products you use could be causing outbreaks as it rinses down your back. Be sure to wash that off your skin well. I watch far 2 many dermatologist videos 😁

in modern day most snail farms for skincare don't! it's a common misconception because in previous eras they used to have to kill the snails to harvest the slime

If possible could you review the skin care brand elemis? Specifically their pro collagen facial oils? Over a year ago I received one of these oils in a boxycharm box and really loved how it made my skin look , but it's pricey and I would be interested to hear your opinion on whether or not it's worth the money/ if there are any less expensive dupes you would suggest 😊

They are heavily fragranced, and definitely spendy, which I think she tries to avoid both of. You should check out Peach & Lily! They changed my skin and I'm an Advanced Practice Licensed Esthetician who still struggled until I found their products. Naturally based, spa grade, and all under 45 dollars.

Im 42 I have litterally tried just about every moisturizer on the market cheaper to extremely expensive. Elemis procollogen marine moisturizer is my HG. BUT I'm right there with ya the price just keeps going up just went to reorder this week and again another price increase. I've been looking for a dupe too and unable to find one. If anyone knows of one please let us know.

Are you against using beeswax in all circumstances or only when you can't trace the origin and treatment? There is a local group near me that does urban beekeeping and they use the wax to make skincare they sell at the farmers market. They are very good to the bees and it is helping in this city enviroment. I personally feel ok using their products since it is small, local, and I know their practices.

Food can absolutely do something to your skin. A healthy balanced diet totally improve your skin. If you only eat junk food and drink sodas, chances are that you have a bad skin. I'm baffled that dermatologists didn't take it for granted back in the days.

personally i only suffered with acne for 3 weeks when i was 13 but my grown up children did suffer from it in various forms ... i now get stress acne ..go figure

Aww it must've been really nice to have a family that supports and understands issue like this! I rarely have pimples but when I do (like during period), my parents would told me to shut myself in my room and not go out because they said "How can you not be ashamed to show up to others with a face like that (?)". Growing up with that, later I realized it's a really wrong mindset :") who cares what others say about our own skin? The point is to find the treatment that actually works for you.. sigh.. asian parents :")

I never had acne until adulthood. I was like what the crap. The one thing you look forward to in adulthood was not worrying about acne. Boy was I wrong 🤦

I had the most perfect skin when I was diagnosed for the first time with facial dandruff at age 31! I thought I was home free on this! I'm like you, I thought I was set for clear sailing in adulthood.

Have you tried looking into Revolution Beauty? They're a company famous for their "dupes" of products. They've released a bunch of products that remind me of the Ordinary (Like their AHA 30% + BHA and many more). But they've also got some more unique stuff that just mimics the aesthetic of the Ordinary. Much of their stuff also claims to be vegan and cruelty-free.

When I was 15 I took for a year isotretinoin. My derm gave me a prescription of course among other things, exfoliators, creams, eye drops, sunscreen. It was hell of a ride but my acne was gone and when I had a pimple here and there where considerably smaller than before (on my face, chest and back). I was doing good until a couple months ago (12 years later of my treatment)... I have discovered thanks to Cassandra that adult acne exists and I'm struggling a little with it. Luckily I found Cassandra and now I am taking care of my skin and I'm so glad that we have a bigcyster and Thank you so much. I'm crying now haha. Bye!🤗

People get really pissed off with Cassandra’s vegan ideas. God .. we are so intolerant of other’s ideas. Her videos literally taught me to read through the inci list. Cass, I have only used Cosrx so far. And my face just drinks it even though I don’t have dry skin. don’t worry. They don’t kill the snails. Snails produce mucin natural in dark, I don’t think killing and stressing them would work. Otherwise it would be a lot of animal cruelty just for skin care. I really love ur videos❤

Snail mucin is not actually exploitative. The snails have to remain unstressed and unharmed in order to produce healthy mucin, which they have to produce anyway. When they become stressed at all, they release chemicals in the mucin that are harmful to the skin. So it's actually a perfectly mutualistic relationship between human and snail, and as far as I know, qualifies as vegan.

Snails are not killed in the production of mucin. Snails will only produce mucin when they aren't stressed, they put them on a type of mesh for an hour or so a day, to 'slime it up'.. the rest of the time, they're free to slime in their 'homes'. Some places consider themselves cruelty free because the snails are so well kept, because, again, f they aren't they won't produce any mucin (and I can see their point... ) They HAVE to be pampered to make the mucin for the farmers. They wonder how can that be considered cruel? They live their lives with food always available, no real predators and no stress.. It is a good product for your skin if you can get over the 'ick' factor, worth a try. It's awesome on dry skin, and also oily. My Mum is dry and loves it. I use it towards the end of my routine, for shiny skin and I'm oily. Cosrx have an 'eye' snail serum that is full of peptides, niacinamide etc.. I use that all over, sparingly. dunno if anyone else said this, but cannabis sativa seed oil is not the same thing as cbd oil!! it is essentially hempseed oil, there’s no cbd (or thc) in there. love your videos cassandra 😌

Hi! I love your videos! And you! Lol you are amazing! And so admirably educated! And hopefully this comes off as intended as just somone who likes to be educated just giving a friendly heads up to someone else that seems to enjoy being educated. And not as a rude correction of your speech. And you very well may know this already and it may have been an accidental mispronunciation rather than lack of knowing the "correct" pronunciation. But in the case that you didn't know I'm only telling you because that's what I would want someone to do if it were me. But....long story short ... Allantoin is pronounced Uh-lan-toe-in ... I only know because I use it almost daily in the lab that I work in. And the phonetic pronunciation says its pronounced that way. (Which is what I'm referring to as the "correct" way to pronounce words) but really with accents and free speech you can say anything anyway you want! Lol and I don't know for sure but you just seem to pride yourself in being as educated on the topic you speak on as much as you possibly can. So I figured who am I to hold back knowledge I have from you when I feel we should share all the knowledge we can with anyone that wants to hear it. So in the same sense if you dont want to hear it then please disregard this comment. Lol ... but I hope you dont mind. ...and I also hope you have a wonderful day!!! Any tips on how to get your hormonal/ cystic acne more under control when you can’t really change your diet or stress levels? I can’t really change my diet due to some of the medicine i take. I have a few mental illnesses and so does the rest of my family so our life/ household is always really stressful to be apart of/ live in. And there isn’t really much that i can do about that. Also on top of all of that i’m 16 so hormones yay!...
