Hi Thomas, I am finding it difficult to understand the kickback movement. Is it the result of deliberately stopping the movement of racquet after hitting the shuttle or we are deliberately doing the kickback movement. Could you please explain how and why is it adding more power to the shot? Thanks :)
@iimiboy

Its deliberate, like a whip affect you want that snap like a wet towl snap it adds power if timed right

Theoretically, kick back movement does not make sense. I understand you may want to the power to be focused on the moment of racquet face meets shuttle. You may even want to stop the follow up movement, but kick back? As far as the shuttlecock concerns, once it leaves the string, where the the racquet face stop or going backwards won’t affect the shuttlecock trajectory anymore.
@BadmintonFamly
@BadmintonFamly 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is like the lasso movement, and you can get more power as the racket will bend a bit more when using the kick back movement. Try it out, you can really feel the difference in the power👌🏻

Please put more emphasis when to use this and why. This is not a normal shot and quite situational with potential damage to joints/muscles. Typically you are using it to 'force' an attack from a counter flick or fast drive. It supposed to give a surprise or relentless attack in the game, but the drawback is you need to train your muscles alot to stop joints falling off as your body isn't geared for this unorthodox movement. It also puts you out of position as typically you will be unbalanced after especially with this much power. Your typical viewer won't be training to this extent in my opinion, its really high risk (on health and game), high rewards (speed/power) shot.
