The city of Baltimore is making headlines in a less than flattering way.
The online publication House Fresh has dubbed Baltimore the "Dirtiest City in America."
The distinction comes after researchers analyzed millions of sanitation complaints that come into cities each year.

Don Lemon made mention on his show a while ago of watching a black person drop their trash in the street when there was a trash receptacle only feet away. I witnessed the same phenomenon in the mid eighties, and thought it was just one careless person. Turns out it is a cultural trait, and you can tell which neighborhoods are majority black by the amount of trash and litter in the streets. Some of those piles are probably left by unscrupulous people paid to haul away junk and they go to the alley instead of the dump, but the vast majority is just selfish people thinking "somebody else will take care of it" in solidarity with their usual state of mind. I work construction in New York City and I watched them leave the garbage right on the sidewalk every lunchtime. They have to pass three garbage cans to get back onto the job site. When I say something to them they say someone else will pick it up. The company had to have two laborers go out every day after lunch to clean up after black people and they lived in that neighborhood

Blk people (not all) are not suited to live in such an environment. Their ancestors used natural things which they could then discard easily on to the unpaved ground and it didn’t negatively effect the environment. I was in my car at a light a few weeks ago and saw a guy standing on a bus stop right next to a trash can eating out of a bag... and instead of reaching over and putting the bag in the trash can he just dropped it on the ground. not sure what DPW can do about people in the community that just dont give a damn.

DPW can clean it up but it will be back to trashed in no time. It happens all the time. The city does clean up these areas but it just cannot be maintained with the mentality that dumping trash is OK.

I’ve seen plenty of folks driving around in front of me on a city street or county highway who open their car window and dump a fast food restaurant bag full of garbage out right in the middle of the road! What’s even sadder is that many times young kids are in the car who are seeing an adult doing this as an example of acceptable behavior!

PLENTY!!! My nephew goes to private school (on campus high school) in Baltimore. He came Home one weekend and threw trash out the window. I pulled over and MADE HIM, damn near by his ear pic it UP!!! He picked that up FROM LIVING IN BALTIMORE and he had NO ODEA why I was so upset!

Blame the people who dump trash anywhere but the garbage cans. If the garbage dumpsters are overflowing with garbage, then, maybe it's the city's fault. Regular taxes should cover regular garbage pick up. There shouldn't be an extra bill for it. Of course, government often wastes taxpayer money, especially when it's corrupt.

I disagree on folks not living there throwing trash there. We trash our own neighbors and its sickening. Those looters don't understand how it affects the kids. Why does a kid need to experience that? They have enough problems without seeing "the adults" disregard for their neighborhoods. Where is the sense of pride? I was at the Outlets near National Harbor and saw a black teenager throw his trash on the ground while eating his Starbucks sandwhich. His mom didn't even react. They just kept walking. He obviously learned it from her. We are our problem and our solution in this scenario.

It's been like that for years. I always had metal cans with lids used but gee to keep lid tight. Cleaned up dog poop immediately. House clean and sprayed rat killer every three months. I got so sick of trash, chicken bones, needles, liquor bottle in my yard. That was in 1998.

Put up security cameras in the areas where the trash is being dumped so you can have video catching the perpetrators. They had a news story a few years ago showing a pick up truck stopping and a white dude getting out of it dumping his trash in an alley in a similar community.

Sometime it’s the people the people since their little kids to take trash out and they scatter it all over the ground. Parents should be your responsible of taking trash out so it don’t bust all over the ground and take it when the trash man comes there or not after they leave.
