Yup, all those little chambers of moisture turning to steam until they explode. That knuckle every few inches as you go up the stem has a dividing wall to isolate the chambers of hollow. Just a bunch of pressure vessels waiting for steam to build up in them. Should be a fun fire!

Bamboo is a giant grass. So the roots run under the dirt and make mats. Even after ripping them out, several passes with the rake will be wanted. And bury them deep or burn them very hot Chris. Good luck.
@davidclaudy48222 жыл бұрын
The fun part is that he’ll use the dozer with the root rake to shove it up to the burn pile. Leaving pieces of root of the bamboo all along the way. The customer will have a huge field of bamboo if he doesn’t get right after it. Once it gets established, it is frighteningly difficult to get rid of it. As you said “Good luck Chris!”

I removed by hand, a patch of running bamboo beside my house. The area involved was about 500 square meters. I First cut all the culms about 10 inches above the ground, this gave me a handle. The culms wen straight onto the fire. Loved the explosions that happened as the segments of the culm overheated. I then dug the sticks and as much root as I could out for the fire. As the regrowth started I sprayed the new growth with a 5% roundup mix, the normal rate is 1%. Within 12 months I had got all the regrowth and never had a problem again. I enjoy the clumping forms of the species and will always have some around. . The best use i saw for running bamboo here in Australia was on the banks of the Tully . It stopped bank erosion during floods, slowed the water and reduced the debris flooding onto cane and Banana plantations Perseverance is the key, Good luck

Imagine clearing 2 acres of Bamboo, friend had some just pop up in the back corner of his property about a year after the neighbor sold the timber. He saw it coming up but didnt realize what it was until 2yrs later it had invaded 2 acres, come to find out the friendly neighbor had bought some bamboo to plant as a “divider hedge” and decided not to mess with it and threw the 200 seedlings in onto his property. Luckily my buddy had his phone recording when he casually asked if he had any bamboo on his land since he didnt until they had their land cleared, the neighbor admitted to throwing his seedlings in the woods of his property. When asked if he was going to pay for the removal or had access to equiptment for him to use to clear it out, the neighbor seriously said....thats your problem, you cant prove i put it there, laughed and said sorry for your bad luck. Neighbor didnt think it was so funny when in court the cell video was played, his lawyer claimed he wasnt notified he was being recorded but luckily my buddy was on his own property so he can record whenever he wanted. End result was neighbor paid for removal and whatever was needed to keep it out, the excavation company had to clear everything to get rid of that shit. Bright side was my buddy didnt have to pay to get the trees cut to build his cabin on that 2 acres that was cleared since that was the only way to get all the root system to the bamboo gone since it had carpeted the ground and adjoining tree roots.

It can be harvested twice a year for smaller items and once a year for construction material. When I was a kid (late 50's early 60's) my brother and I would have Bamboo sword fights, make bamboo spears and anything else that could mame a kids (you know have fun). We even made a treehouse out of bamboo. It was great being a kid back then.

Something I saw on Amazon and had to try was bamboo bed sheets. Seems impossible but there's a process somewhat like the one that turns flax into linen, and it produces a fabric that's softer and cooler than cotton, though not as long lived. I'll only buy bamboo bed sheets now because they're better feeling than cotton ones. I sleep deep and well now despite my advanced age.

However, if "you" survey the area after every rain and immediately uproot anything that shows its head, you can get rid of it, but it can take years. Also, I think it would have been cuter to call this episode "Bye-by Bamboo".
