Akane-47 unleashing thunder with a smile on her face.

Just for a moment, forget they're all female and forget they're dressed as maids. Two members (Misa - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. OK, now that's explained, you can go back and marvel at how cute those outfits look and how incredibly beautiful all the band members are. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal.

In 2016, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin caught a performance of Band-Maid in Tokyo and asked for a photo-op with their drummer, Akane Hirose. Reportedly he told her that she was like a reincarnation of John Bonham. For those who don't know, BAND-MAID played in the Classic Rock Awards 2016 and received the Japan Next Generation prize. After the show Jimmy Page, asked Akane for a photo.

When Jimmie Page says Akane is one of the best drummers he's ever seen and tracks her down backstage for a picture...if you had any doubt.

Akane Hirose uses Wincent custom drumsticks made from Hickory. Which Is ironic considering her name is a anagram of "HERE IS AN OAK".

They are so good at writing songs... It´s catchy, the riffs are cool, solos that are fitting, Saiki´s beautiful voice... Just the best band IMO at the moment out there. There is NO STAR that shines, it´s the whole band that is just OVER THE TOP talented and they are friends with each other, you can´t fake that talent and chemistry. LOVE IT! Nice you enjoyed it, you can´t go wrong with Band-Maid!

This is one song you expect to see in their setlist whenever they perform. This is their favorite song they like to perform live and yes I believe their friendship is real. Seen videos of them joking having fun they celebrates each other’s birthday with a cake and fan cams showing them having fun with the crowd and each other. They are good musiscians, and they are a fun to watch and having fun on stage.

If you notice that when the band members surround the drummer, they are trying to make her laugh. It is kind of inside joke they like to play on Akane. As far as I know they always do this in concert. I can't remember where I got this info. Probably from an interview they did. They are an amazing band.

Rinne , the studio film clip, every plays like dynamite on this track, super ruff rockin song with a retro film, edgey style clip to go with the riughnessof the sound.

Japan have many amazing bands and musicans who not so know in western world whats sad because i love japanese music bands like Babymetal,Band maid ,Dir en Grey most known but it give so much more who deserve to be more famous in Europe or US like Mucc and so on and in band maid the bass player is the beautiful and amazing Misa❤

Jimmy Page saw them live, and went backstage to see Akane the drummer, who thought it was a prank. he said in a interview she is the "reincarnation of John Bonham". high praise indeed.

I would suggest doing the song Onset from their April 13th, 2018 show. It's an instrumental only song and it is a total jam session.

I can't find the link ATM, but there was a thread where it's been posited that MISA plays Lead on this song, while Kanami and Miku both play Rhythm, as other than Kanami's solo you don't hear a lead guitar line. That thread said that was why MISA switched sides of the stage with Kanami, she was playing lead and Kanami was playing rhythm along with Miku.

Funny the person getting the least camera time is Misa the bassist and she still stands out so impressively!

For more bass-y goodness, give Moratorium (live) a listen. The bass is absolutely massive in that one.

These women love this song and it shows. Misa(Assassin) just drills that bass into your head, the perfect woman according to my bass playing friend (she drinks, plays barefoot, is tall, is shy, gorgeous and plays a wicked bass...LOL). Akane recovered from a serious injury so you will never see her without a smile able to do what she loves and not taking it for granted, besides her Haruna (Lovebites) and Kai (Nightwish & Wintersun) are just absolute beasts on those drums, where they get the stamina from I will never know!! Best Rock band playing today and the rhythm section of Misa/bass, Akane/drums and Kanami/guitar is one of the best out there PERIOD!!! Great song and I still haven't found a bad song by this band. I think they are the happiest band I've ever seen. Being in the band scene in the 80's I've seen some great concerts live and even hours and hours every weekend and most weeknights of practices and jam sessions, This is the tightest band I've ever seen. I want to go see them if they come to the USA

I LOVE AKANE! She beats the hell out of those drums with a huge Smile that could melt any heart. If you watch her she throws funny faces at the others without missing a beat, super cute, and they always look like they are having such an awesome time!

Listen to PLAY from this same concert. The intro is great and you'll get to hear a little of the rhythm playing solo too. Miku, rhythm GTR and the other vocal, started the band and writes most of the lyrics. She's really the driving force and was originally going to be the singer as well. She felt her voice wasn't strong enough and then they enlisted Saiki to be the lead singer. Mikue stepped back in order to help the band succeed and then learned how to play guitar after she helped demote herself. She's turned into a really good rhythm player if you listen to the background. Some day she's going to surprise us and do a lead solo (I hope).

The guitars joining in hide the fact that the drum solo ends at 4:06. You can hear the crowd roar (and see Akane laugh, although it's not unusual for her) right after that.

During an interview, Akane said " ....her style of hitting powerfully while having fun. …Because of that, my recent nickname is “Gorilla”…" Makes perfect sense after watching this solo. I watch this video at least one a month just for her solo!

Here's the thing about Japanese culture, when they approach something, be it art, music, technology, food etc., they don't play around, when they go in, they go all the way in.

I follow a few drummers and theyre all happy ppl. But especially her. If I could actually play drums I'd be happy as a lark. But yeah this band is phenomenal.

I just wish I can get my hands on Miku's new custom Zemaitis Dragon Classic guitar. It's called the Flappy Pigeon aptly named & absolutely a work of art. Would expect nothing less from Zemaitis Guitars though lol. But aside from that some may not know. Is that Akane is also the band leader. She's in charge of organizing rehearsals and performances. Akane also claims she can eat 5 bowls of ramen. 30 plates in a Kaiten Sushi. Along with 130 bowls of soba in a single sitting lol. Akane being classically trained also plays piano and the trombone. Yes, this girl definitely a unicorn in disguise I have concluded lol. Anyways awesome reaction here, just saying. 🤟🔥🥁🔥

Band Maid is the best hard rock band out there right now. Please try to reacting to Play (live), Onset( live ). The bass is so cool.

Unless one lives under a rock it is well known that interesting and great music has originated in Japan for quite some time. There is also no limit to mainstream media backed crap with little to no social redeeming value except to put a dollar in some suit's pocket. But even among the corporate sponsored entities there is still a huge amount of very decent bands. Babymetal, Lovebites, BiSH and Scandal to name just a few that have made it onto my playlist. Band-Maid is an entirely different animal. In both how they came to be and in their relationship with the media and corporate control of the entire music industry in the nation of Japan. After all whatever Band-Maid has received to date from the powers that be there are the same people who dismissed Miku in an earlier attempt through the idol system with her three girl singing group Lil Cumin. She goes back to these same guys and says "Look l know you just let me go a few months ago but l have a better idea. What about a hard rock band dressed as Maid Cafés employees? Of course she didn't tell them she had zero experience with rock music or that she did not know how to play an instrument. Band-Maid's talent, appeal and back story make them exemptional and even unique among bands today. Sacramento loves Band-Maid.

Definitely check out more Band-Maid videos. Play (Live) is another good one from the same February concert. But, don't discount the Music Videos as well like RINNE. There really isn't any bad songs from Band-Maid. They are mostly upbeat good rock songs. They do have an Acoustic live version of Puzzle. Hard to find the video but if you can find it, it's a very nice one. It showcase's Saiki's vocal talent as the only instrument played is an acoustic guitar by Kanami.

Glad you liked this and you saw Miku also sing with Saiki on your first BM reaction when they did THRILL but that's ok. I love them and you love them so I love you too lol. Anybody who loves BM is a friend of mine.

if you want an interesting song for composition I would recommend "Awkward" which just layers different levels of complexity as the song progresses. however i dont think you can find it anywhere on youtube anymore but i have seen it other places.

It sounds more muffled and it usually doesn't and the bass is drowning out the other instruments in the verses even if not during the lead sections.
