The more I look at this after finishing the DLC the more I'm convinced the one we see standing in the Gate of Divinity in this trailer is Miquella, and Leda's words refer to his actions, not Marika's. I get that a lot of people will never agree, as the figure is wearing the same jewellery Marika does, but to me the hair, the obviously young male figure + screaming parallels to the scene in the final boss of his emergence from the gate just SCREAMS Miquella to me. I 100% cannot see it as anyone but Miquella, I think it's alllllll about him.

Souls is all about building your own story and interpretation… That being said, it’s 99.9% Marika, when we arrive at the Gate it’s been a hell of a long time and the corpses are white/ash. In this trailer it looks more “fresh” with the bodies being a red-blood color. Kinda crazy how the Gate of God creation requieres an insane amount of sacrifices…

I just can't shake the idea that it's Miq. I did say that I do not expect people to agree hahaha. And i do realise that that scene took place a very long time ago but Miquella has also been in the realm of shadow or a very, very long time. He possesses a great rune, and was taken from the Haligtree by Mohg during the shattering, at which point it makes sense to assume is around the time he first entered the land of shadow. Also the 8 new weapon CATEGORIES. We've never gotten whole new weapon types in a DLC before if memory serves right. Also there are now leaks about over 30 new songs in the DLC which is crazy when the base game has 67 and a bunch of those are for the menu, cinematic intro, character creation, endings etc which the DLC doesn't need. Another leaker claimed that it's roughly the size of Liurnia+Caelid+Mountaintops combined and there are 3 legacy dungeons apparently. All signs point to it being roughly half of the base game in size. And some people though 40 bucks is too much for this...This might be bigger than DS3 with both DLC's or at least comparable to that.

This is going to be pretty much a brand new game complete with story and endings. We are essentially getting ER 2 as a dlc

End of DS1 is the one for me. After getting my ass handed to me for a week by Gwyn (still my hardest boss Fromsoft ever made, I just can’t beat him in a straight fight even after 30+ playthroughs) the softness and the peacefulness of the credits really caught me off guard. Makes you reflect on the journey.

He’s more so fully based on Vlad Tepes or alternatively Vlad Dracula which “Dracula” means “Son of the Devil” but can alternatively through a Latin context be translated as “Son of the Dragon”, Messmer does obviously have some classic vampire imagery going on especially with his Drake Knight armor on, Drake Knights were known for eating the hearts of dragons in lore.

The DLC did Elaborate. Marika probably joined the hornset in the slaughter of her ppl to betray them and kill them all at a later point when she had more power. Becomes clear if you visit bonny village, shaman village and the pot dungeons

I’m mostly interested in the lore which might make it worse for me cause gameplay was amazing but there’s so many plot points they could have closed off. Instead they added more points which came with its own added confusion especially on the timeline.

Marika’s people were forced into jars. This was so they would merge with the bodies the Hornsent cut up. Marika is likely a product of this ritual. She was forced to merge with other beings. Good chance Radagon is a product of that. The hornsent worshiped her. Marika was obviously pissed about the atrocities and sent her son messmer to get rid of them all after she became a god. The thing is, all of her people were genocided. So when you go to her village you notice it’s empty but fully protected by her blessing. It even has guards. Her betrayal was betraying the hornsent. She became a god then had them genocided. But they can’t die. Because she removed death from the equation. So now her son tortures them. Messmer’s fire golums you see used are representing the jars they would stuff her people in after whipping them. She did the same to the hornsent. Her son (Messmer) is looking to reverse the jar process on the living numens/shamens.
