thanks for your review? what is the range of these?
@Iridium2428 жыл бұрын
+luke garcia A lot depends on how you are using them. If just out of the box as is, radio to radio and flat decent terrain, you could get a few miles out of them.. with repeaters and better antennas, it could be many many more. It really depends on how you use them and what antenna you are using.

1/3rd of a mile in hilly forests -- but 4-6 miles in flat open terrain w/no powerlines/other interference nearby. Add approx 33% with a 771 antenna, even more w/a 10-cent homemade Counterpoise that's 6.87" long.

birender nisad yes but as long as you don’t interfere with anyone else (transmitting power est 2WT) do not program otherwise this will not be legal because it is out of PMR.So in other words this is legal

you should but they can be programmed for non ham FRS frequencies as well

I really don't know about your conutry, but here Im in Brazil the range of frequency that it operets a license is necessary for use this radio, but only is in theory. In practice you just buy and use it.

Do you need a license to operate these? Can I use them straight out the box in the U.S. Good review.
@Iridium2428 жыл бұрын
If you use them on ham radio frequencies you need a license, if you use them on other ones you do not. That said its sort of a legal gray area as these radios are not approved for use on anything but ham radio frequencies. They also need to be programmed, the frequencies that come pre set in them are public service frequencies in some areas of the country.
@lt55508 жыл бұрын
+Iridium242 How do I go about knowing what frequencies are legal in Brooklyn, NY? is there a website or something of the sorts? Thanks.
@Iridium2428 жыл бұрын
You can check around online. If you want to listen to ham radio, there are tons of repeaters in NYC and Brooklyn (I used to live in the city when I first got interested in ham radio) but as far as legal you probably want to use these on FRS frequencies only.. and you can search for those, they are in the 440 range.
@lt55508 жыл бұрын
+Iridium242 Thanks again.
@berettamod9617 жыл бұрын
FRS is never legal on these radios. There is a legal limit on the antenna and the transmission power for FRS. The antenna has to be a permanently attached stubby antenna and FRS is limited to half a watt. The radio transmits with considerably more than half a watt and the antenna is removable in favor of an aftermarket model.

how to program FRS?
@berettamod9617 жыл бұрын
Programming FRS on these radios is illegal regardless of any license you may have. GMRS is more in accordance with the law. Strictly speaking in the US they are ham radios but it is unlikely you would be discovered if you used it for GMRS applications.

Do i have to program it?
@Iridium2425 жыл бұрын
To use it legally yes, the pre programmed frequencies it comes with are not legal to use in the US without a license. Its VERY simple to program if you have a program called "chirp" just put in the frequencies you can legally use and off you go.
@mrs.waddell53385 жыл бұрын
@@Iridium242 Im new to this. Is it a computer program or am I way off?
@Iridium2425 жыл бұрын
@@mrs.waddell5338 Yes, you download Chirp, a computer program, you connect the radio to your computer with a USB cable (It comes with the radios or at least mine did) and then you type in the frequencies you want in your radio, and hit send to radio. That is a simple description but also there are loads of videos showing you how to do it on here with Chirp, Its pretty simple but might be kind of confusing the first time you do it if you are new to radio programming.
