Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister, Minister for National Security and the Public Service, and Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs and Investment of Barbados, addresses the general debate of the 78th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (New York, 19 - 26 September 2023).
--------
Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, said, “the issues of debt sustainability cannot be left on the sidelines, particularly with a number of countries, more than 60 countries, facing debt road today, as we speak, because of the polycrisis.”
Addressing the General Assembly today (22 Sep), Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley said, “countries being forced to choose between development and building of resilience to fight climate.”
She added, “in our small island states, we value education and healthcare and the dignity of life and therefore it will be anathema for us to tell our citizens that we do not have the space to provide for you those things, with the promise of independence.”
Mottley stressed, “it is compounded by the failure of the developed world to accept the reparatory justice is a solemn obligation which we must confront.”
On artificial intelligence, the Prime Minister of Barbados said that it “must be for good purposes, and not evil.”
She continued, “but if we are to ensure that is the case, that an appropriate framework for regulatory action must be put in place.”
Mottley added, “we therefore support the actions of the Secretary-General recognizing that the question will come one day from someone whether you sought to preserve our democracy.”
-------------
The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization. Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations. Each of the 193 Member States of the United Nations has an equal vote.
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the UN and its work are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter.
The UN has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world.
But one thing has stayed the same: it remains the one place on Earth where all the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity.

The reason why Barbados is seen as the shining Diamond of the Caribbean. Meanwhile the jamaican minister of foreign affairs is praising his Holness. Selfishly everything is about Jamaica, Jamaica nothing but wine and roses. The difference between a little shiny diamond and a big piece of shining glass in the sand. Both shines but there's a difference. Respect to Barbados. From the Bahamas 🇧🇸

Today, we have had the privilege of witnessing an eloquent and impactful speech from a truly great leader, Mia Mottley. It is not often that we are treated to such a combination of words that are both eloquent and to the point. Mottley has demonstrated exceptional skill in articulating our vision and inspiring us through her words. But what makes this speech truly remarkable is its concise and straightforward nature. Mia has masterfully crafted her words, cutting through unnecessary details and clutter to deliver the message with precision and clarity. In doing so, she has helped us transcend the noise and truly grasp the essence of their vision.

You have boldly and openly spoken the words that some men are afraid to utter even in their bedroom and have delivered it so directly to those who are in need of it even right before them without fear or favor. Prime Minister Mia Mottley,This Is the difference between a Puppet that talks for Talk and a real leader that walks the talk. ❤Justice for 🇭🇹 Haiti, Cuba 🇨🇺 , Venezuela 🇻🇪 🙌 and all of Africa ❤❤How many Roads do we have to 🚶‍♂️ walk just to make it to the door, Only to be told that the Door is closed?!❤How many rivers do we have to cross before we can talk to the Boss.!??❤ *@Radio ZeaterClub.*
