Come watch along with me as I react to Barbra Streisand singing 'The Way We Were' (music video with Mr Robert Redford)
Being new to the world of Barbra, I am literally unaware of the majority of her work - I absolutely LOVED the last duet with her and Donna Summer and to be fair, all of the reactions I've done so far!🤌🏾❤️✨
AND I've just reacted to my first ever Barbra Streisand movie, 'Funny Girl' which is over on Patreon right now! So I will definitely be watching 'The Way We Were' movie at some point! 👀😂✨

A sometimes forgotten but amazing song by Barbra is "Prisoner", the theme from the movie Eyes of Laura Mars. It's from the late 1970s ad really it showcases Barbra's range, power and vocal dexterity in a way some of the more reacted to songs only hint at. I've seen some other reactors starting to catch on to it. On Barbra's Greatest Hits Volume 2.

The movie is definitely worth watching. It was an enormous success at the box office the year it came out, both Barbra and costar Robert Redford were Top 10 box office stars at the time. This was her second nomination for the Best Actress Oscar (she had won on her first nomination for her screen debut in "Funny Girl" tied with Katharine Hepburn in "The Lion in Winter" the only time that happened in the category) and should have won here as well. It's also the best she's ever looked on screen, the film is set mostly in the 1940's and the fashions and hairstyles of the period become her. It is however not a musical though she does sing this title tune over the opening credits and it did win the Oscar for Best Song that year. It was also a number #1 hit for her on the Billboard chart. Hard to pick one song as a favorite for a performer whose career has now spanned 60 years but I favor her early years though she's had many wonderful songs threaded throughout the decades. I'd say my top 5 would be: Why Did I Choose You? What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life? If I Love Again Memory I'll Tell the Man in the Street

Barbra Streisand is one of the most multi-talented female artists of the past 100 years: acting, directing and of course singing in her fantastic and unique voice. If you ever will react to movies, too, you should watch her movies "A Star Is Born" (with Kris Kristoffersen), "Funny Girl" (with Omar Sharif), "Yentl" (with Mandy Patinkin), "The Way We Were" (with Robert Redford) "What's Up, Doc?", "The Main Event" (both with Ryan O'Neal). She is a fabulous singer on her own, but has collaborated with many big names, like The BeeGees and then especially oldest brother Barry Gibb. "Woman in Love" is a song from her best selling album "Guilty" that Barry (and his brothers, but mainly he) made for and with Barbra Streisand not only revitalized her album sales, but revitalized the record industry as a whole. The album was a total sensation and sold so many copies world wide, so quickly after its release, it was like the records were handed out for free. Two huge showbizz names teaming up together was a big thing back in 1980. Initially the Gibbs were asked to "write a song" for Barbra. They wrote several and Barbra liked them so much that the idea for doing a whole album was born. The Gibb brothers wrote all the songs for that album. In fact, they wrote many more, so Barbra picked her favorite ones of the dozens of songs she was presented with. Barry sang 2 duets with Barbra on the album. The title song "Guilty" (album version kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hs6YbKVikpqpiac.html / live version: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nphnfcJqmrXYgXU.html) and "What kind of fool?" (album version: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nsx5hZx_qMm5e30.html / live version: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/adyZZbWEvLHKgoU.html). But most of the songs on the album had Barry's backing vocals and that special BeeGees sound to them. On Woman in Love Barry only plays the acoustic guitar. Background vocals are by Denise Maynelli, Myrna Mathews and Marti McCal. You should listen to the entire album, it's a classic. And the whole music business, including all the big stars, were starstruck by this duo as you can see in this clip kzfaq.info/get/bejne/prhhpMKdtafehps.html. After this album, the BeeGees produced albums for Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers and Diana Ross among others, for whom they also wrote all the songs. Most of these albums became best sold albums of these artists, too.

Hi, thanks, I like Barbra reactions... And seeing people discovering her. The way we were is a film worth watching, if you like "romantic dramas"... (sorry, I'm no expert how to describe it). I would suggest to watch "What's up, Doc" as a modern new hollywood classic of screwball comedy... One of the best comedies I know with a sexy young Barbra... Or A Star is born for great songs in it (like Evergreen (you reacted to this classic before) , Woman in the moon.. I recommend to listen to "Queen bee" or "Finale: With one more look at you/watch closely now".- a rock-ish romance/drama music movie. Or watch her first movie "Funny girl" for great acting (she won an Oscar), great classic songs (People, My man, Don't rain on my parade) and that establishes her in Hollywood. I suggest "I'm the greatest star" as song people have not reacted to so often... Or "Hello Dolly" as lush musical and ensemble vehicle (though Barbra is the star here again)... Maybe react to "So long, Dearie"... Fun. I love people to react to more unusual lyric, interpretive songs: "I remember" or "Letters that cross in the mail" ... Well, anything-you cannot do wrong. Nobody gave his thoughts of "Pavane", neither.. Hef classical alhum is sublime. And I will watch u watch her.. Cheerio.

You should watch the final scene from her movie, A Star is Born. The first half of the song is a tribute to her husband who made her a star, then died. The second half is her letting him know she is strong and will be ok. It's called With One More Look At You / Are You Watching Me Now.

When Beyonce sang this, her "look" was a nod to Barbra's performance of "My Man", the final scene of "Funny Girl", Barbra's first film for which she won an Academy Award. It's been said that final scene put the bow on her Oscar win. "My Man" has since been retitled "How To Win An Oscar In Under 3 Minutes." BTW, I'm the guy who mentioned "Meet The Fockers". 😊

My favorite Streisand song is "Somewhere" from the musical West Side Story by the great Leonard Bernstein. West Side Story is the modern retelling of the classic Romeo and Juliet. In the musical, the star-crossed lovers, Tony and Maria, sit on a fire escape on a New York City tenement and sing of what there life could be. Streisand takes that song and makes it universal - what all our lives could be, somewhere. She takes a love song and turns it into an anthem of hope for all creation. It's a must listen.

Can’t choose one song -60+ albums. He touched me- live in Central Park (1960’s): and, Taking a Chance on love (album version). One less bell to answer (1980s): from the Broadway album (1980’s), anything! But to choose: Send in the Clowns; I have dreamed/we kiss in the shadows, If I loved you and Somewhere; 90’s: as if we never said goodbye: and Tell Him with Celine Dion. Your thoughts on discovering an artist resonates. Makes life so rich

This film--The Way We Were--is one of the few films that turns me into a sobbing mess (and I've seen it more times than I care to admit). And yes, that humming at the beginning and ending of the song is just buttery. I've been a fan since I was a teenager, but seeing your reactions is revelatory to me because I've listened to her stuff so many times over so many years that I become inured to some of its beauty, so seeing you discuss it in many ways makes it feel like I'm discovering her all over again.
