I'm not a Tigers fan, but as soon as I saw the title of this video I immediately had flashbacks to Galarraga. Poor guy's always gonna have an asterisk on him, but let's be real -- we all know he did it. He really did pitch a perfect game. And then after he was robbed of that because of somebody else's mistake, he responded with grace and empathy. Much respect to that dude.

I feel bad for Joyce. I didn't always, but time and understanding have lead me to see the whole picture, and I just feel bad for him. The blown call at 6:21 almost cost the Giants the World Series. The Giants only clinched a postseason spot in the last game of the season. It’s kinda sad that Joyce’s credibility has plummeted over one miscall, I honestly don’t blame him because hindsight is 20/20. There is another one from a Cubs @ Dodgers game that was left out where Silva gets ejected in July Also at 1:28, the Padres also had that very same call go against them in August of 2009. Literally the EXACT SAME scenario as that one, except the 2009 call resulted in Bud Black being ejected

Jim Joyce's call will go down as the most tragic in history. Taking a perfect game away. Even if it was close you have to give that to him. Unbelievable.
@bosoxdanc16 жыл бұрын
David Kitchens while Joyce was obviously wrong with his call, your logic is also wrong. Just because someone is that close to perfection doesn't mean they deserve a call.
@Briantheowl6 жыл бұрын
bosoxdanc funny thing is that he wasn’t even close to being safe it was very evident that he touched the plate first before the runner was even close to stepping on it
@kdub91986 жыл бұрын
Brian Perez That's the weird part. He was 3 feet from the bag. Not even close. Makes you wonder if Joyce had some ulterior motive. When Joyce starts barking afterward it seems he's angry. Why? I think it would have been cool if the base runner told the ump he was out. I wonder how he'd react to that admission.

Paul Z Do you even watch baseball? They've got replay, the only thing the umps ever screw up is balls and strikes. But I'd like to see you do better at judging the exact location of a 99 mph fastball or a curveball that breaks 18 inches.

A ground ball just needs to pass over the base fair. Wherever it lands afterwards doesn't matter. Still the wrong call but for a different reason.

@jackharrington41244 жыл бұрын
Nicholas MacKenzie not true. It’s where the ball hits the ground first after passing the bag. Since it took a bounce over the bag, it can be viewed as fair or foul based on when it first hits the ground after passing it
@nicholasmackenzie16474 жыл бұрын
@@jackharrington4124 nope. Where the ball passes the third base bag on a ground ball. Fly ball or line drive that hits the ground after the bag matters where it lands. A groundball can pass over the bag fair and land foul. It is still a fair ball.
