If I could use only one word to describe this video, it would be OUTSTANDING! After watching several videos on cerakote, this one is, by far, the most informative and easy to understand!

This was a very well explained process, and it was done in a manner to keep me interested. I have to admit that I was really hoping to see a picture of the finished and assembled shotgun, I;m sure it turned out amazing.

I have been spraying guns for 5 or 6 years now, and I learned a few things, especially about adjustments on the Iwata. I started with a Paasche when cerakote sold them. I have to say that the Iwata does give me more options to use, and now I know more about basic adjustments. Thanx!

Great video thank you for sharing. Love learning new things specially since I want to do it in an hobby setting, and a 10 sided shape is a decagon and 12 sided shape is dodecagon, octagon is simply 8 sir.
@PatHaskell Жыл бұрын
I think he is implying that in a “cylindrical” object you need to divide it into, at least, 8 overlapping patterns.
@CrossedRifles Жыл бұрын
The next time I teach this method I'm totally going to try and remember the correct names for 10 and 12 sided objects. I was just a grunt in the army and not a geometry major but I still feel silly calling items with more than "8 sides" octagons!

@@CrossedRifles well your definitely doing that with this Video im just a little curious as i run a Reg right at the Gun and just leave the air wide open maybe i should say flow Valve as its more of a flow valve i run the cheap but good the RP/1 ANI AIR Regulator So what do you Leave your Regulated air going to the gun set at may i ask? i know for say C series Cerakote it says 30Psi is that only when spraying Full out or 2 on 1 and any idea what you dial it down to to spray tight spots? So alumahyde 2 is like the least durable when it comes to spray on finishes right? Then duracote...and cerakote the best, or gun coat....my cerakote slide lasted right over 2 years of heavy duty and holster wear.

Where did the “15-18psi on the regulator pretty much all of the time with no real reason to change that” come from? Around the 2:49 mark in the video. I’ve ever heard that anywhere, from anyone. The recommendation has always been 20-25psi for H-Series and 25-30psi for Elite Series…
@joesquid6988 Жыл бұрын
... I second this. Although, I started with the recommendation, and dialed down to get the results I want .. I find myself at 18psi.
@bglenn2222 Жыл бұрын
NIC recommends 20-25 for E series and 25-30 for H regarding line pressure. Then adjust the gun down. I found that 16-18psi is where I have best results. Your mileage may very :)

I'm doing KG as a hobbyist, maybe take on some light work. Doing smaller parts, what is the disadvantage of just using an airbrush? I have been using the airbrush with a 0.8mm nozzle and it has worked well for me unless I'm ignorant on something. I could see how doing high volume work would take forever. Doing small parts, slides, uppers, lowers, etc.. Is the airbrush fine? I can stretch the paint much further with the airbrush as well. I also don't hang my parts, I have a jig I made to hold and turn the parts I spray. I have a smaller oven so I cant hang them to bake them. The jig I made goes into the oven nicely. Of course I'm just doing one gun at a time. So I can fit an upper, lower, and a buffer tube in the oven at once, I can then do the handguard and outer barrel next.
@CrossedRifles Жыл бұрын
The biggest issue with an airbrush is the amount of material it sprays out. You can absolutely get it done, and we use an airbrush in lots of our techniques. But you really have to crank it up to lay down the proper amount of material and really get a true protection layer on the piece. If it's just for cosmetic purposes and the durability isn't an issue then an airbrush is perfect.

I have a Browning .270 BAR Lightweight rifle that I'm thinking might be a great candidate for Cerakote if I can't get it blued anytime within the year. I was told by two gun shops that it'd take over a year to get the gun finished if I wanted to go with bluing so now I'm considering Cerakote. The gun has a wooden stock so I don't want to go to crazy with colors, but it's going to be a gift handed down to my son. What do you recommend?

1/4" Is cerakote just like shooting anything else. Paint, gel coat etc. Prep too, so CAN hand scuff it up ya? Then a "TONE" bath? If I don't hear I'll go with ya. I would have made to a 12 sided decagon myself. Or multi-facets. I mean what does a jeweler say Mr. Corrector over thay? @CrossedRifles11 ай бұрын
It's more painful. I have a hard time lifting my arms over my head without experiencing pain so getting the part as low as I can while still keeping it in my eye level range is the key for me.
