Fyi Andy Rourke died last month, RIP, not long after you filmed this. Suggestions: for smiths 'the Queen is dead", "big mouth strikes again" For Ghost "con clavi con dio" and "from the pinnacle to the pit" have prominent bass. Metallica "orion" has bass not even sounding like bass sometimes. And Faith no More's cover of "war pigs" by black sabbath has awesome sounding bass, or their own song "from out of nowhere".

Yes. Like a lot of their songs, its somehow gracefully beautiful and groovy at the same time. Among their best album-only tracks, and that's saying a lot.

The bass line is what could be called groovy, very funk inspired, some of my favourite smiths tracks "Well i wonder" "Back to the old house" "The Queen is dead" "Asleep"

I Love you Lauren, because you Love The Smith's. The lov'in base is, of the song, the "Crack On The Head" because that is what I got for NOT ASKING aNd eVen MORR, a "Crack On The Head" is what I got for ASKING because, HER I AM ~exsisting aNd waiting for eVen MORR to enter In My Life... For another bass reliant band, try Joy Division or their reincarnation, New Order. Peter Hook's bass was front and center, often leading the way melodically. Different style than Rourke but hugely influential in the '80s.

Good morning dear friend, thank you for your comment on the band that was my light during my adolescence. I saw that you chose the song I proposed to you, but I'll give you some advice The Smiths are appreciated much more in the LIVE version. If you want, I suggest another song where the bass has something melancholic in my opinion. "THIS NIGHT HAS OPENED MY EYES". As for Morrissey's solo career (which I adore) I don't see any songs where the bass plays a relevant part. Thanks again for bringing to light a group that has always been boycotted by the media, and forgive my english (I'm italian and this is a google translate translation)

The Smiths. Hard to describe, hard to cover. Throws up a question as to whether you think it’s incredible before you ultimately decide it is. It is but you don’t know exactly why, even though the guitar is awesome, the bass is better and the drums are perfect, the song writing is brilliant and the vocals are hauntingly intriguing.

Barbarism was a massive disappointment in recorded form after listening to it live, in the same way that There Is a Light was not as good as the first time I heard it at From Manchester With Love at The Royal Court in Liverpool. There Is A Light is my favourite Smiths song, but live it was magical.
