Nice work. Some remarks: You say Oda-Tokugawa as if it where a name, in fact Oda-Tokugawa are two clans, the clan Oda with Oda Nobunaga as frontman and Tokugawa Ieyasu for the Tokugawa clan. You spell it out as if it where a composite name.

funny how their former allies the sand clan ended up serving one of nobunagas strategists hideyoshi Toyotomi but then again the only other option was the other leader of the alliance against them tokugawa, poor yukimura

Extraordinarily poor storytelling. *depressed monotone* "The underdog lost decisively and went on to commit suicide..." Still, the battle had some strategic merit. And in the end I enjoyed the video.

takeda must've been unacoustomed to fix defenses - outmanuevering in place of head on or even with drawing was sensible

They got the design from the Portuguese, but by this period, they were mass producing weapons and changed the cartridge into a paper one to standardize the loading of gunpowder. By this period, they had more arquebuses than Europe combined.

what i know and believe number of troop are not valid. takeda clan forces are more superior in number especially their cavalry troop than oda and tokugawa clan combined forces and they are relied heavily on their cavalry since takeda known for their mastery and better breeding of horses. thats why takeda clan was feared and considered as the greatest warlord before oda clan rises to power. the only reason oda and tokugawa alliance can win the battle is because the introduction of new type of weapon called arquebus musket rifle by portugese jesuit. oda ordered his 3000 gunner troop to make 3 line of arquebuser behind wood palacide and fence. the 3 line formation allow arquebuser to firing in order and make repeated barage of musket. while arquebuser firing safely protected behind palacide and fence from melee combatant. after the first line fire, 2nd line move to the first line to fire while first line fall back to rear to reload and 3rd line move to 2nd line get ready to fire. the great takeda cavalry samurai and foot ashigaru who charge head on to the volley of bullet simply shred to pieces by oda nobunaga genius tactic of using new weapon. this battle was the 1st battle where fire arm used in mass and changed the way of japanese warfare for the rest of onin war.

in the video the man said oda tokugawa like a name of person, actualy its oda clan lead by oda nobunaga as a daimyo or landlord and tokugawa clan lead by ieyasu tokugawa also as daimyo. these childhood friend make an alliance to secure their border since this 2 clan are neighbor to each other and to carve japan into 2. oda nobunaga allowed to expand his territory to the west while tokugawa ieyasu expand to the east while they protecting each other from other clan.
@ShadyAnchovy

also the number of oda and tokugawa alliance casualty are wrong. as far as i know, only about 60 to 80 man are dead in their army since only few of takeda troop that actually can reach alliance army front line before rekt by musket volley.

You seem to know something about this battle, so I'dl like to ask a question: If Takeda army is the one encircling the fort and the Oda-Nobunaga army is the one reliefing the fortress from the siege, why the role of attacker and defender is reversed in the actual battle? Why isn't Takeda the one using a defensive deployment and actually waiting for the opposing army next move? I know this has already happened and seeing this in hindsight it's wrong, but this engagement doesn't make much sense to me.
@ShadyAnchovy
@ShadyAnchovy 7 жыл бұрын
if takeda does not intercept alliance army, they will fighting in 2 front. they choose to fight alliance first, leave some troop to guard camp and make sure enemy stay trapped in castle. facing alliance troop also give advantage to their cavalry because they fighting in open battle. as i said before they are horseman to the core, horse just not very effective in siege battle. they also hoping that besieged troop will surrender after they defeating alliance army.
