Hey Dave God bless you and thank you for taking the time to help people to live a better lifestyle. I took your course and in 1 year paid off two credit cards that have a 2k balance have the emergency fund sold my car that I was 5 thousand upside down in I inherited from an ex got a unsecured loan on the negative equity that I set on auto pay in tackling that, I bought a car with 90k miles less that is a 2013 for 20k OTD and lowered my payment from 425 per month on the other car to 375.00 on this car as soon as the unsecured loan is paid off from the other vehicle. I'll be double what I'm paying on my student loans. I paid one off my student loans off with a state tax return that was 5k now I'm paying off the 13.5k welding school loans. I'm making 60k yearly with my day job I'm 29 years old with no mortgage. And currently have 36k in debit If I was your son what advice would you give me moving forward. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for making me a millionaire. I am 42, have 15yrs to go before retirement and save between 70% to 80% of my salary every month. I have zero debts and I am the happiest soul on earth. If cash cant afford it, then its not worth it. Nothing can ever replace the joy of getting a full salary and then saving 80% of it. I am a happy minimalist. I do return a 10% tithe to the Lord with a big smile on my face

The math never changes, so the message doesn't have to change. The only thing that changes is that there is more stuff to waste money on. (so you have to be even more disciplined than in the past) Pensions are also a thing of the past and S.S. keeps getting worse, so even more reason to save and invest, instead of spending money and or going into debt over stuff you don't need.

A lady i work with is “car shopping” with her husband because their current car got totaled. Their insurance company wrote them a check for $5,000 MORE than what they owed on their car, and they were able to pay it off with the lender. So you know what they did? They’re going to put that $5,000 down on a brand new $50,000 car, so they’ll be in debt for 5 more years. THATS STUPID ON STEROIDS, BABY!!!

The truth is that there are definitely people that judge you and look down on you because you look poor (don't drive a fancy car, wear tons of new clothes, or have the latest phone). When you bring your lunch from home every day, people will pity you and whisper about you. You have to decide that you don't care what people think. Either look broke for a while or actually be broke for a lifetime. Your choice.

"Millionaire" is so relative to currency. I was a "millionaire" within the first four years after I started taking money serious. But that was just $150k US money and the price of a very small apartment in my country at the time, but I had paid it down, and yes I TOOK A LOAN. After that me and a friend started a tire changing side business. Hard work but we made on average about $80 each an hour 14 hours a day for a total of 6 weeks a year. I made as much on that than I made the rest of the year working night shifts. Then we funded a business that did well, the cost was just under $100k, they couldn't afford it but they had a plan we believed in that the banks didn't. Now I have over a million $ and I'm about to retire and move to somewhere cheap. I might get tired after a few years and go back, but why not, I'll still be under 50.

I've had a couple of acquaintances when they got promoted, they went out and got new cars with payments and all. One of them revealed to me that she only had $10k in retirements and said she wasn't able to save much yet and isn't even thinking about retirement yet.. She is almost 15 years older than me. Good thing I'm weird at work. I always talk about being frugal, saving money, paying off debt. And guess what, I'm getting more people to jump on the weird band wagon! The other day my supervisor admits she got another job to help her pay back her credit card debts and then she said she's going to try the Yin frugal way of living! 😊 Being weird is good.

Successful People Mindset ....like Dave has said, using credit cards is like playing with snakes. I am not going to take that risk and fall into temptation. My only debt was student loans, but I've seen friends and family overspend with credit cards and they felt they were being smart. So the only thing in my wallet is money like Dave says.

Dave you’re right about a lot, however, my millionaire uncle uses his airline rewards credit card for almost everything - especially for expense paid trips from work. In this case, he is getting a great monetary deal because he is being reimbursed for flight charges he pays on the card that the company ends up covering. Therefore, reward credit cards are NOT always bad. It really depends on how you use it.

I'm not sure if I completely agree with the whole "no credit cards" thing. Of course, I don't know nearly as much as Mr. Ramsey, but here's my two cents: I do agree that these credit cards are designed to get people to spend more than they physically have (since they're making money off of the interest and your credit card debt), but if you're smart enough you can actually use this to your advantage. First of all, Discover offers 5% cashback. Now, I know, it's dumb to say that "Oh, I'm going to spend 100,000 dollars so that I can get 5,000 dollars". But think about it like this, if you just pay your bills on time and, therefore, don't accrue any interest (and spend reasonably), every time you *wisely* spend 100,000 dollars, you basically get 5,000 for free. Yeah, it seems like peanuts, but this stuff adds up. If you're smart with your money, you're basically earning extra cash just for being sensible. Secondly, the ability to spend money you don't have yet actually improves your purchasing power. This is a bit of an abstract concept, but purchasing power is not just about how much money you physically have - there's also the factor of time. For example, let's say you want or need to buy something and you receive your paycheck next week, you can buy the item right now and pay it off once you receive your paycheck (obviously, assuming that the sequence is that you buy before you receive your paycheck which is all before you pay off your monthly bill, which is before the due date) The third and huge advantage of paying with your credit card is building your credit history/score. If you ever need to take on a loan, having a really good credit history/score will make you qualified for the best possible interest rates which, in turn, means you save more money. Also, as an added bonus, credit cards have really good purchase protection.

Discover card gives you 5%-10% cash back. If you only use the card on things that you were going to buy anyway such as Gas, Food you can actually save. IF you are paying the card off every month you can save. If you spend 100 bucks and get 10% back you only pay 90 on the card and keep ten. Simple math and money management can allow it to work for you.

Yep. I like to watch him but he seems to think there is a single fix for everyones money issues. If I can save 10 bucks for every hundred by simple making my purchases on my Discover card rather than paying cash on something I was going to buy regardless, how is that not good money management??? But you notice people that call in to his show dont already have a working budget setup that's why they are calling him. Hell, I could give financial advice if that's a good way to get rich.

Also, If I know my card gives me points that I can apply to a vacation why not get them. Using the same method mentioned earlier, just everyday expenses can be used to collect a ton of points for that vacation you would otherwise had to pay cash for. Dont get me wrong. Having cash on hand is great but dollar for dollar, you spend more of your cash paying cash for everything.

I think he says that because most people don't have a conscience when it comes to charging money to a card for some reason. So he just says eliminate it and it works. There's too many exceptions and differences between credit cards to explain on air with average people being able to understand. So I totally get it. No harm will come if you follow his plan. It works. It's really hard and challenging but it works. Just eliminate a bad thing from even possibly starting to happen. Make a plan where it's almost impossible to lose money on. Dummy proof.
@vilenationgaming

I totally understood what he was saying. But, he gave a blanket response without giving those who are good at money management an option. But then I guess if you were good at money management, you wouldn't be calling Dave lol. I just wanted to let people know who see this video that if you are credit conscious you can actually save money by using a credit card over paying cash.

Dave’s advice of not using credit cards are good for the stupid people who spend like no tomorrow. Lots of self-made millionaires and successful people use credit cards. Just need to be disciplined. It’s like saying don’t live near shopping malls, restaurants, etc because you are likely to spend more. That may be true but can someone live like that. Anytime something is more convenient, there’s more chance of spending. Why not lock yourself in a house so there is no temptation
