The surface is called klinkers, not cobbles. Klinkers are man made, like brick and neatly placed. Cobbles have more rounded edges and make for a much rougher surface. Klinkers just gives a light buzz but not the jarring of cobbles

Though my coach i know a few of the world tour guess from the US and he said when they do races like its mainly to stretch their legs before a big block of racing. An both of his sons that are pros what they end up doing at local races if they will actually pull off the course and give the win to the local rider. This is one cool thing about cycling that doesn't happen in a lot of other sports is you can rub shoulders with pros.

13:10 - One thing I noticed strategy-wise was Langeveld switched to have Frank pull just before the cobbles/klinkers. This made Frank have to put out more watts on the rough surface, then Langeveld passed him after they were off the rough stuff. Nevertheless, well done Frank! This was a tremendous race to watch!

Ha! Good stuff. Not often you see a pro racing with a saddlebag. Oliebollen - just what a cyclist shouldn't eat too often - fried dough balls covered with powdered sugar. Frank was smart letting Langeveld do 80% of the riding on the front when they got away together.

Breathtaking and anxiety-inducing video. Watching these riders doing 50+km on narrow tarmac with cement poles and a river on either side reminds me of watching those crazy kids who enjoy running along the edge on the top of skyscrapers. Kudos for having amazing bike handling skills and nerves of steel. p.s. Someone needs to call the 19 yr-old's mom! This shit be cray cray.

Can you guys comment on the difference in cycling culture between the USA and a country in Europe. I am asking because the last video from the Legion guys, showing the way they see cycling and the way elevate raced, is a disgrace. Especially because they are pros showing-off and bullying other riders and the worst part is that the field was a 1-2-3 and even women there. And, people here think that was normal and give them props. That is something that I want to hear from someone like you, even though I had harsh words because, in one of your last videos, you or someone on your team said,, " you know who you can push around". Did you get pushed or someone demanded respect over there? Please address this issue. Cycling in Europe is a gentlemen sport. And don't lie, they let you be in the front, or you think if they were assholes like Legion or elevate you could have done that?
@NorCalCycling
@NorCalCycling 4 жыл бұрын
I also strongly disagree with that type of racing that includes unnecessary physical contact and bullying. It's not the way I race and it's not the norm here in the US.
@NorCalCycling

@mikelboudica5389
@mikelboudica5389 4 жыл бұрын
@@NorCalCycling That's true, in all the videos you don't take crazy risks that endanger others and you are not aggressive, sometimes there is some commentary that doesn't really represent how you race. I admire that you race solo and with that confidence. Too bad, views and likes are given to this "macho" bs. People seem to afraid of them, even to criticize them is really weird coming from guys that think they are so brave. How can a cat 1 think is normal to move away from your line to push another rider out of his line, I don't get it. I don't want to criticize or generalized but it seems like many guys here are strong but don't have a clue about the rules. And, bringing respect and all that talk is so highschool and then you have 35+ and 45+ categories guys loving the video. I don't get it. Hopefully, you can explain your vision of racing clean so the younger generations don't get brainwashed by people with no cycling culture at all. Thanks for your reply, it takes character to say what you think and I am glad you are a clean rider and a gentleman. Cheers

@TheXtrafresh 4 жыл бұрын
@@mikelboudica5389 Dutchie here with a limited insight: most of the riders you will see in these crit races start out very young, and have received years and years of instruction on bunch riding etiquette. This means that overmatched riders don't feel the need to "mix it up" in the front and create a bunch of danger and drama. They know that a group on their level will form soon enough, and they can fight their battles there. The other part is a much wider cultural split. Respect in the US only flows up. If you want to be respected, you need to get on top, so no matter your position and ability, that's what you go for. In the EU, respect flows both directions. This means that you will get actual, proper respect (not condescention, and not conditional of you idolizing them) from the world tour guys and their staff if you ride a great race on your level. I've been in one of these local 'crit' races where guys with pro heritage take time before, during and after the race to hang out and coach younger and lower-ranked riders, discussing their race with as much excitement and interest as their own that was 10km/h faster.
