54:26 Office Depot used to be a Tower Records, Ross and Ulta used to be an Emporium department store, Best Buy was a Payless Drug Store, I used to be a grocery checker at the WinCo, I wish I could remember what the rest of the stores outside were, I think most of them were inside access only, there was also a GI Joe's sporting good store at the opposite end of what was once called the Beaverton Mall. There were a lot of cool stores inside, like a pet store, there wasn't a Powell's Books, instead it was called Bill's Books, a donut shop, a Kinney's shoe store, a GTE/Sprint store, a Radio Shack, Hickory Farms during the holidays, a Tshirt iron on graphics store, an import store that sold mostly Asian stuff, an Orange Julius, and a cool waterfall fountain inside, as well as an Italian restaurant and waterbed store, and at one time a Caramel Corn candy shop and Troy's fresh caught that morning seafood.

I remember when the Beaverton main library was on SW Hall and Allen, and where it's at now was mostly houses, and the park was small with a play structure that had a raised platform with a steering wheel, we called it Ship Park.

Where the consignment and thrift shop is after you crossed SW Canyon there was a really nice bakery that made the best breads and pastries, they made a bagel bread that was so good, no one else in the area made it.

At 52:52 Where the Ome Calli ice cream shop is now there was a head shop that sold all sorts of Hippy regalia, called For What It's Worth Records and Tapes. They sold everything, from posters to incense, smoking paraphenelia, stickers, music, underground comix, and the centerpiece of the shop was a huge display in the middle of the store that had bootleg tapes of every single live Grateful Dead concert they ever played, the owner of the store was one of the original traveling Deadheads that knew Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia personally, going all the way back to 1965 when they first started out as the Warlocks out of Eugene, Oregon.

I like your videos in general however both videos of Beaverton or are the same area showing only a few differences while large sections of Beaverton were not shown. If you only making one video having it be general is great; however if your making multiple vids they should be more in depth and each cover different sections of the city.

What are the neighborhoods like north of the main highway that runs through town (Tualatin Valley Hwy) around 185th Ave? I'm thinking about moving to that area from Cali. Seems like that area of town is older.
@cyrusramirez5930
@cyrusramirez5930 2 жыл бұрын
The farther north you go on 185th the city limits change into Portland for some reason. Rock Creek is beautiful so is Bethany. But it really depends on what you’re looking for. Bethany and Rock creek although Beautiful are very far from most grocery stores, unless you dim the mind going to a mom and pop store for your needs.
@DeWin157

Going towards Rock Creek on SW 185th is old Aloha (pronounced a loa, not aloe ha) and very 60's/70's, at least when I lived in the area decades ago, I have heard that once you get closer to Cornell and Tannasbourne, it gets more modern, that area used to be massive acres of farmland.

A lot of people like Beaverton but i don't think it's green enough for Oregon. Id rather live anywhere near one of the rivers since there are more trees. You can get your money's worth in Beaverton and it is a nice place to live though. But i personally like cities near a river like westlinn, oregon city, clackamas, etc. better.

@@jliverty Because of covid beaverton or hillsboro would be a good place to live if you just take hwy 26 to downtown. It's just kind of slower over there but affordable and nice. If covid wasn't going on downtown be better since there is more to do.
