ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from college, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

Spiritual warfare is real. It is hard to find people familiar with the demonic realm and how many are afflicted with demons torturing them. The real battle is spiritual. May God continue to bless both of your ministries.

Yes sister, are we so afraid to face the reality of it, and or has the “charismatic” movement in the USA so twisted the sphere of demonic influence, that we have thrown out the baby with the bath water? I frankly hate that we have a real enemy in a very real devil, but as the word says “do not be ignorant of his devices” ✝️2 Corinthians 2:11

Excellent, and so happy you are addressing the very real spiritual warfare we are engaged in. I know the Lord led James to write to you Becket. This brother knows of what he speaks. And this was not what he set out to do, but in light of his experience in the lions den, he has courageously and obediently delivered this critical message. Thank you Lord for your servants. 🛐✝️🫂❤️

My son lives in the Seattle Tacoma area. There is so much perversion and drug use, that even he is disturbed by it, although he has not yet surrendered to Christ. It’s confusing and dis heartening, especially to young people who feel so lost there. I battle every day for him in prayer. Every day. We have a fight on our hands, we the believers, and we who are parents. It’s really time to take up our cross and follow Jesus, and time to take up the sword, which is the infallible WORD of God. Thank you Becket- always interesting, always bringing to light issues that would like to remain in the shadows of woke culture. If you have a moment, please pray for my son Jared. 🙏🏻

Pursuit NW! I saw Mosab Hassan Yousef spoke there. As a Messianic Jew I was so unbelievably touched and SHOCKED to see the kidnapped posters in strollers on stage. Incredibly bold as churches have been so silent on Israel. As a fellow Biola alum who was there during 9/11, anti-Semitism masked as anti-Zionism in the church has been ugly. This man has aligned himself with people willing to speaking the truth without apology.

Sweet! I was very excited to see you interviewing James, Becket! PRMI and the Dunamis Project (mostly in Alaska, but also with James online and in North Carolina) has been a huge part of my own return to knowing Jesus as LORD (after a couple of decades seeking some other “better” way to God), and learning to “dance” with Holy Spirit to do what the Father wills so that Jesus is glorified in and through my life. I hope you will check it out further, because it is such solid Biblical teaching about the Person and work of The Holy Spirit. Good to see you here, James!! (Meg)

When James shared about praying over the man who was demon possessed, I shouted praise to God for delivering that man. Demon activity is real, I felt their oppression when my dear mother had all her Catholic statues in her apartment. She had already come to faith in Jesus and was going to church with me, but she hadn’t taken them down. I shared the Ten Commandments with her as found in Exodus 20, especially about not having other gods before the Lord. It took five years and a Spanish Christian movie to help her finally take the step to remove them. She was scared to remove them, so I did it for her, “Mami, they don’t mean anything to me.” I filled a 30-gallon trash bag with all the stuff she had. She had been complaining for years that she didn’t feel well. Several times I told her, “You don’t want to believe me, but you’ll feel a lot better when you get rid of all this stuff.” Truly, I half believed what I told her. So, we went to church the following day. When we came back home, I put the key to open the door to her apartment, turned the knob, opened the door, but something prevented me from stepping in. I couldn’t understand what was happening so I asked my mother to try and step in. It happened to her too. So I poked my head in, turned it right and then left and told her, “I know what’s going on; it’s empty.” We then went inside and walked around. I marveled that her apartment felt so empty. Years later, I understood what had happened, Scripture teaches that demons are behind idols, or in my mother’s case, her Catholic statues. This is why we both felt something wasn’t right. God truly is a jealous God and He will not share His glory with no one, much less any of the dead Catholic saints. Sorry for the long comment.

You're completely right. I had the same experience. I was born again and returned home from overseas a couple of years later to look after my sick mom. There were still statues and rosaries in the house (a few in her bedroom) and I prayed that I could throw them away while my mom was in hospital without it upsetting her. When I did get rid of them, I also kept praying in the authority of Jesus that the demons would leave. And they finally did. The ATMOSPHERE completely changed. That was the family home and it was now free and cleansed. It was so NOTICEABLE. I realized that it had been under spiritual oppression since my parents moved in with us toddler kids over 40 years ago. The strife and depression in the house when I was a child and teen had been definitely unusual, when I thought about it later with hindsight. I hope people don't think I'm denying responsibility or denying that my parents (especially my father) were responsible for the strife. I'm not. But it was definitely being FUELLED by something outside of us. I know that for sure now. Ephesians 6:12!!

I can relate. I had a Catholic relative that would hang up pictures of "Jesus" and other stuff and just seeing them would make me feel bad, like depressed and sick. The first time I went to a cathedral (for my grandparent's funeral), the sight of all the relics, statues and images was absolutely horrifying. I looked so ugly and dark that it made me feel disgusted. I don't say any of this out rejection. I just hope they can come to the truth.
@leenieledejo6849
@leenieledejo6849 7 ай бұрын
@@loreanrivera9895 Wow. Thanks for sharing. Which cathedral was that? It's interesting for me to hear because you are obviously discerning/spiritually-sensitive. Were you already born again when you had those feelings of disgust? Because I was brought up Catholic and even lived in Rome and I was so used to all that stuff. But as soon as I was born again, I didn't want to go into another church or cathedral. Depressed and nauseous was exactly how they made me feel! RCC synergism is interesting too. They purposely "blend in" depending on the culture. For example, in the UK where I'm from, the decor in RCC churches is a LOT more restrained than in predominantly Catholic countries in Europe like Italy and Spain. And from the little I have visited Latin America, I know that it's so over the top there, blending in with local pagan idolatrous traditions.

So many “God told me” and “God told my wife” etc. statements. Be careful of that… and the speaking of tongues… the enemy masquerades as an angel of light. (Justin Peters has a Clouds without Waters series that explains this well.) Thankfully, God works all things out for the good of those who love Him. I appreciate all the work he does in helping advance the Kingdom. Praying for you both. So grateful for all you share.

Great story. But, at first I thought it must have been the "Yale" padlock company...certainly not the University of the same name...where James had an encounter with God. Just say'n...

Something about the way this man speaks isn’t sitting right. Getting married to someone you don’t even like? Those are serious red flags, and are anti-biblical.

I’m excited to listen to this because I appreciate the dialogue you have with your guests in general but his dig At Catholics not talking about their faith was a bit disappointing. I’m saddened to hear that is his experience with the Catholics he knows but I can say as a Catholic my faith is a point of topic with Catholics and non Catholics alike. God be with both of you!
