ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from college, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

@@dannymealer3499 Are you surrendered to Jesus Christ - born again? If you have obeyed the gospel (1 Cor 15:1-4) then the Holy Spirit will lead you unto all truth. God knows exactly what you're up against so always pray! Read Eph 6:10-18 and put on the whole armour of God every day. We truly wrestle not against flesh and blood but rather, the spirits that manipulate all of us. God can send His Spirit to protect you and fight for you. Read God's word every day. I was born again 10 years ago after a real Christian witnessed to me and encouraged me to start reading the King James bible. I scoffed at first but after a few months battling with God's truth, repenting of my sins, I surrendered at the cross and asked Jesus to save me. I've never been the same since. My life changed - old friends left me - I never intended that to happen, but I gained new ones. God provided. One dear friend I considered to be like a brother to me was in a SSmarriage. We had been through a lot together through our highschool, college, and then to our late 30's. He had gotten married to another man a few months before I got saved. We met one time after I got saved and I told him my testimony. He politely told me he wasn't interested. I actually never saw him again. He stopped calling and answering my letters. I pray for him often, hoping he and his husband will become born again. I pray that God send Christians their way...even Becket Cook, lol. God can move the mountains for us. Just pray and trust in Him. Leave all your cares on Him. Meanwhile, do your best to obey Him by learning of Him (reading the Bible.) I'll be in prayer for you.

I grew up in a Christian home. My father was a pastor and my parents were full-time in the ministry. Only when I was in my forties did I 'discover' who Christ was and gave my life to Him. Being borne in a Christian home does not automatically make you a Christian. It was an amazing experience and still is.

What a great interview Beckett & most inspiring testimony Marc! I too have struggled with unwanted SSA since I was about 12 years old. Yet, the Lord did give me a wife who I have been married to for nearly 36 years. The Lord gave us 3 sons who are now older and happily married. My unwanted SSA has diminished significantly over the years and yet there are days when it can be a struggle. Daily affirmation of my true identity in Christ are vital for me. I am not defined by my sin or my temptation.I am only defined by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

So, you're a closeted gay man married to a woman? Isn't that like what virtually every single gay man had to do up until 50 years ago? I don't get the novelty here. You just used and exploited a woman as a cover for your homosexuality so you can have your little 'normal' family. The number of families destroyed by men like you who simply cannot man up and deal with their attractions is insane.

I agree. I cried. So sorry you experienced that and so grateful God redeemed your life from the pit (Psalm 103:1-5). Guess it hits home, because I believe one of my siblings is having this struggle, and I have tried to be there for that person to get them to open up. I am not sure how to have this conversation with him. I am very worried about this person. The Lord has been talking to me about my sibling for years and so I have prayed for years. I don't know what to do anymore😭. Praying Zechariah chapter 3 over him, Psalm 124, and that the Holy Spirit would brood over him to bring life.

I spent most of my life identifying as a gay man. I'm in my sixties. I was traumatized years ago, and I started drinking alcohol to deal with my grief. I was self medicating for a long time. Finally hitting a rock bottom of desperation I called out to God for help. I have been saved. In the eight years of sobriety that I have I have repented and no longer live as a gay man. I don't want ANY sexual connections with other gay men. I don't struggle with SSA, I accept viewing a man for his beauty but I don't want any sexual encounter or connection with him.

Amazing testimony! 25 years of marriage has given me a rather different perspective on attraction. The Lord "arranged" a marriage between my husband and I. We were friends who had never even met in person (he was overseas) but fell in love after corresponding by phone and email. The friendship came first and physical attraction (for me) came later. And as we grow old and gray, I am thankful for our spiritual and emotional bond all the more.

What’s harder is the Progressive Churches that tell people that you can live a sinful life AND have Christ too. I do not doubt their love for Christ but they also love their Sin and do not trust Jesus to overcome their sin. That is even harder where you learn of this “window” where it’s “ok” I’m sure that people know it’s not possible per scripture but they cognitive dissonance the facts and just go with it.

I had a dear colleague who struggled with same sex attraction who kept projecting his struggles on others who he said were talking about him. I knew something was going on and felt like I should say something, though not sure what, and so I waited for him to come to me. I felt incredibly guilty when he left his wife and ran off with a male "friend." He knew it was sin, he told me the Bible was clear about it. It was his reluctance to seek help when these feelings emerged that lead to this outcome. I don't know what difference it would have made, but he took such pains to hide it from me because he "respected me." I feel I let him and God down. Maybe this is how we find our voice and learn to be bold?

Hey don't beat yourself up! Prayerfully God will send another laborer on his path to confront the running as Nathan did with David confronting him with Bathsheba. God redeems stories. Pray for him to return to Jesus first. As THIS is where the disconnect occurred originally. His relationship with the Lord is broken.

Another great interview with an ‘ordinary’ guy who, in today’s society, faced his sin nature with an extraordinary strength, trusting in his faith and God’s redeeming love. He would have been surrounded on all sides by ‘the bulls of Bashan’ and yet remained single minded in his path. We all have temptations, some much stronger and destructive than others, but few have the faith and tenacity to resist. The Holy Spirit has blessed him and kept him on that narrow path . Thank you Becket for using your platform to bring to light these stories of hope for all people living in this fallen world. This story also displays the strength an obedient and spirit filled wife has in helping their husband. It seems women are only truly weak when they buy into what society wants them to believe.

I think back Beckett to the prayer your mom wrote. I recall you reading it and me thinking oh I'm so with mama!!! My husband has to remind me that it doesn't matter if you ever get married. I'm just a hopeless romantic so I think of how sweet that would be if you did get married. What a blessed lady that would be to marry you Beckett. But alas, I'm not the author of the plans for your life. I found this interview to be very interesting, listening as I rode to pick up my mom from the airport. What a completely different concept I've ever considered as far as not being sexually attracted to your spouse at the beginning or even ever? But what a beautiful story. I pray for God's protection on his young family's life. And Beckett I continue to pray for you, your ministry and God's will for your life. (And I pray in agreeance with your mom's letter to the Lord 😊✉️) To God be the Glory, no matter the outcome!!!! 💗

Thanks for sharing your story. I can really relate. I was completely SSA through my teens and early 20's and found it very difficult to deal with. I knew it was wrong and I never pursued SS relationships. It was very difficult to find anyone to trust with the knowledge of what I was going through. So I relied on Christ Himself, and he brought me through. I'm now 10 years married to a wife that God brought to me and have 4 kids. The most difficult thing for me before getting married was wondering if I was "capable" of it (in terms of intimacy). Some might not believe me, but it did not turn out to be the problem I thought it would be at all. I didn't need counselling, only Christ :) I agree repentance and rejecting pornography and the like is crucial. As you've discussed Becket with Christopher and Rosaria, rejecting the "identity" of being gay is also important. I'm glad I never embraced that label/lie. I am concerned about the church though, as so many are caving on that issue and listening to the world instead of Christ. But, Christ says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." If you struggle in this area (or with anything really) be careful whose voice you are listening to!

Scheduled "Baptism" into the Roman Catholic church after a period of being "catechized" i.e taught the RC Catechism by rote. That's NOT the same as being born again/born of the Spirit. (It couldn't be further). But maybe some will read their Bible, read about the true Jesus and come out of the RCC in order to follow Christ alone. May the Holy Spirit of Truth guide them into all Truth (John 16:13).

I am sure Becket has met men who were gay and repented and married. But this guy is special because we have been told that we are suppose to be attracted to and in love with those that we marry.... Not so I am heterosexual and I did not love my husband when we married. Love grows in the relationship not before it you barely know the person. On the day he married, he was not attracted to his now wife, It's an arranged marriage like in the Bible. I hope and pray God blesses Beckett with a woman to walk thru life with. It is not good for Adam to be alone and Eve needs leadership.

The idea of “bringing it to the light” is so POWERFUL for any sin or attack of the enemy. The enemy wants you to keep if in the dark which is why I think we feel so much fear around confession. They associate religion with control, sadly. It's because of the history of the RCC in Europe. It had such a stronghold of power over the people. Nothing to do with the God of the Bible at all. The 1789 Revolution was in part motivated by the idea of breaking that power. So now they enjoy the freedoms and privileges of a country with some Christian heritage (the South West & North East, for example, were traditionally Protestant and Bible believing)...but they forget about the Author of Life 😢 Pray against strongholds of the MIND. This association thing (religion equals power and control) is strong in their minds...and their perception isn't helped by the influx into the big cities of the number one religion of control i.e Is...m.

Becket, this episode by far is IT- an answer to my prayers. Thank you Jesus and thank you Becket for being a willing vessel to share the hope found for ALL in Christ. Hope comes in so many ways. As a mother of a ‘Jesus loving’ son who battles SSA, FINALLY- one for those who are believers and trust that the Holy Spirit can and will do it. A marriage that can be built on friendship, honesty and trust! I dare say there are many many women who pray for this kind of marriage. There are men who desire the safety and confidence of friendship - without “sparks” and women who desire a man who can find safety and trust in her company perhaps from her own pain. Children born out of a deep trusting bond, and love celebrated sexually from trust and safety. What a marvelous hope that young man shares, “God I dont understand what you are trying to do with my life, but I trust you.”
