Yeah just a little bit of scrape damage. That would repair easily along with the faulty landing gear replacement.

If I were to give this a thumbs down it would be due to the stupid chipmunk background music. No music would be best. The controlled land was beautiful! I wonder if that has a manual override for the landing gear?

Congratulation to the pilot ....for the perfect procedure without landing gear, for the action of having turned off the engines and closed the fuel avoiding fires and preserving further damage to the two engines and propellers. I was also helped by excellent control with the vertical rudder during the race stopof the plane. GREAT JOB

My compliment to the pilots on their flying kills and in dealing with this emergency. I remember reading the NTSB report that followed this incident. NTSB investigators gave the flight crew high marks for their airmanship but recommended remedial training for their selection of music! 😜😜

The two most senior Captains from my flight school were taking delivery of our new Beech King Air and did a practice ILS approach on a controlled runway and neglected to select gear down even though they radioed the tower to say that they had gear down and 3 in the green. They bent up the props, damaged the engine shafts and destroyed the bottom of the plane. If any one of the students would have done that, they would have been bounced out of the school. Nothing happened to the two captains.
@Nfarce3 жыл бұрын
I can one up that. The director of my flight school who signed me off on multiple ratings, based at a USAF base and run on the Embry-Riddle syllabus, was able to wreck our school's Cessna 414 twin. How? He had it overloaded by just 170 pounds with fellow club members and gear headed to a conference. If an engine is going to go out, it will go out at the worst time (right after rotation). Normally that bird would have no problem losing an engine after takeoff. But it apparently does when overloaded and an engine goes out. It turns out later he was slow on the uptake identifying the dead engine which further put the aircraft in peril. It was sinking and he wound up putting it into a parking lot of an apartment complex between two buildings ripping both wings off. Nobody was killed but he never flew again.
