This is really inspiring! I've been hooping for 8 months, and I got such amazing results. It's not just about losing weight, as You said. It is all about my physique for me! I lost my cardiac dysrhythmia, and hypertonia and tachycardia as well. My skin is fantastic and I feel like a 23 years old young women ( I'm actually 53!). I am energized not need any extra vitamin pill to survive weekdays. I DO APPRECIATE YOUR JOB 🤗🤗🤗💕💕💕

quick question so did you also do workouts like after hooping (or before) or did you just hoop only? I'm thinking of getting a weighted hula hoop to stay active instead of just sitting all day lol but I also want to see results too but anyway I was just curious!

especially right now the news being full of women disappearing... i used to run a while ago but only if I could run during the day in the daylight... when I started hooping it was so amazing I could work out any time I had a few minutes... did not get muddy and did not matter what I was wearing... did not need to buy any more trainers and I could just play some happy tunes, turn the outside world off for a few minutes and it felt fantastic. I hope you can get a hoop super soon to play and experience the joy :)

That was wonderful, Bee! Your journey is absolutely inspiring. I first heard of you during my graduate school program. In time while working on my Master's degree I purchased a travel hula hoop (not so effective - too large and not HDPE) but the timing wasn't so good - I was in an abusive relationship and also whipped by my graduate school studies. I decided to explore hula hooping again after putting my hiking on hold due to the pandemic and can happily say that I've never enjoyed working out so much; it has been a month since I picked up the hula hoop. The past four weeks have been enlightening and also a test; I'm slowly learning to be more patient with myself regarding results and new moves. Your kindness, generosity, and support are greatly appreciated.

What is so beautiful about your story is the timing. Sometimes we have other priorities that keep us going and we do not always go for the things that we find but then circumstances may change and we make history. I hope the abusive relationship has changed into a good one and that you feel like a success story that even thought he hiking had to be put on hold but you found something just as awesome and making amazing progress with your fitness and learning even during a pandemic! and this is just the beginning! Things are going to get even better and better ❤️ we can make 2021 magical ❤️

Bee, Thank you for sharing your story! You have given me so much hope and inspiration. It's so unbelievable that you didn't start with a background in gymnastics, dance, and fitness. I'm so glad that you discovered hula hooping and took off with it! It is sad that your mom gave up fitness and her handball practice after starting a family, but I'm so glad that you decided to continue your journey. And are now setting an amazing example for your daughter, and mums, and children around the world.

Thank you 🧡 🙏 Minka watched this a few weeks ago and she was asking "why was she there all the time? She was with me everywhere." I told her she's with me all the time even now like a little shadow following me wherever I go 🤣 we've been left alone and grew into a strong team. It was hard first to pick myself up. I wanted to carry on with exercise after having her. I remembered my mum that she gave up and I never saw any of it. What a loss... to have a potential source of inspiration to be an athlete but you don't because it's all gone, you never see any of it... I was in a dark place after becoming a single mum with a baby. Sleeplessness and just feeling worthless... like being thrown away even though I gave up my career, my business, everything to have a family... then I had to carry on hustling with a baby on my own. It was hard. But remembering my feelings about my mum never doing any exercise anymore made me man up... I decided that my daughter won't have the same experience. She will see me trying and active and not drown my passion in excuses. I will make it work, I will have her watch me. She has to see that life is not over, you can still have fun when you're a mum: you're setting an example. I was exhausted doing everything alone. I still am. But my mum's example has really taught me to make fitness non-negotiable. Having Minka is not an excuse to stop. Having Minka is a reason to carry on 🧡

@@BeeVargaTheHulahooper Wow, that was such a massive contrast that you experienced and a huge sacrifice to give up your old life and to conquer all of the adversity on your own with your daughter. A lot of people would have been crushed and might have given up on their goals and dreams, but I'm so glad that you decided to plant yourself deep in the rich soil of your experience and your mom's experience and now you are blossoming and growing and teaching Minka how to thrive and be resilient too. I am so amazed by the way that you learned how to create such outstanding online content in such a short amount of time. There are so many invisible tasks that none of us see. It takes so much patience and ends up being way more time consuming than a full time job. Plus you're a mum. Thank you for all you do and for sharing your amazing comeback story.

Mid 50's and hooping?! You're not just relatively fit but open-minded and fun and extraordinary! Show me please all those who are hooping in their mid 50's 🤪 most of them would not even try! And you are doing it and trying your best! That is where the magic happens, Gorgeous! Because every day I fail and drop it and my hoop slides and flies... but what I can do today: I never imagined I could ever do. We learn the most from struggles - that gives us the feedback about how to improve. It guides us to problem solve. Every time we just get more coordinated and fitter... 💪 if we carry on doing what we always could easily do: we don't get anywhere from there. So WELL DONE! You're a champion 🏆 every day just aim to be better than you were yesterday! Never compare yourself to anyone else! I would jump off a cliff if I compared myself to Olympic gymnasts... I started hooping as an overweight adult... Will never be as fit and gorgeous and flexible as they are! But I can always be fitter than I was yesterday 😉😉😉 let's focus on that! You & me we both try to have a happy wiggle and keep focusing on all the things we can do better now than before 💋💋💋🫶🙏

How is it going? Any improvement? Been a few days now and even if immediately there's no huge achievement: in a few days' time if you keep trying you may find: it just clicks! What not many people talk about is that we disconnect. Many of us just have no connection with certain body parts. We can improve or shut down connections: it is about neuro-pathways. Nerves can be stimulated to bond and get powerful and very effective, highly sophisticated connections and they improve our awareness and control over certain body parts. But the opposite can happen, too! I am not sure if you've ever seen people who paint with their mouth or feet... they create stunning art even though they were not born with such skilled feet... they developed their skills because if they had no hands or arms they did not have lots of choices. So repeatedly they kept working on skills to overcome difficulties. As a result: they develop incredible skills simply by repeated action. They may have no hands but with their feet often they can do better painting than I can with my hands... It is simply because where attention goes: energy flows. The more they kept trying the better they got. It may have felt hopeless and frustrating: but they just figured it out over time. This can be very inspirational to us because even if we do not have super sophisticated skills and control over certain body parts: we can just keep trying and just have to believe in ourselves. I absolutely was not gifted at the start and I struggled with hooping because I had no background in exercise of any kind and I was overweight - so I suppose I was focusing more on my chronic back pain and my breathlessness than on the actual technique to hula hoop... For women it is common to have a disconnection in the pelvic girdle and lumbar spine area. We usually are more prone to have some level of lordosis than men - that can cause back pain and we may just hustle on, get chores done over a lifetime, trying not to focus on the pain. So we teach ourselves to not feel it almost. Same with periods: from a young age girls are conditioned to carry on - whatever they are going through. So even if we have period pains: we still have to perform normal at PE lessons at school, show up at work... basically we have to carry on like if all was ok - even when we are in pain. This over the years creates some disconnect. We direct the attention elsewhere, trying not to focus on the pain. It is a coping mechanism. When we ignore pain and focus our attention elsewhere: we basically train ourselves to not feel. Then when we are trying to learn something like hooping: we struggle a bit because we just cannot immediately grasp it, even just to pick up the correct tempo and feel when to move and how, is a task that takes us time to figure out. So I am sorry about the long story but the point I am trying to get to is: It is possible that you just cannot feel it properly, your body may be struggling with a bit of disconnect and for you it may be harder than for others for now. But your body is capable of the same physiological tricks as other people's bodies. You can focus on body parts, you can repeatedly keep trying and the neurons will fire together and bond and the connections you build will help you conquer this. The more you try the sooner the magic unfolds for you!

I have actualy discovered that due to some trauma I haven't felt my body most of my life and I am learning to change that for the last two years already... and am really excited that hooping will also help me with that and that you describe it all so wonderfully. Thank You 💗 my daughter says that she will be a circus superstar and I can live in the circus kitchen and cook and bake because that's what I'm good at 😂 so she does have a lot of confidence 🤣 So glad you managed to keep the hoop up! It will just get easier every time believe me! For me, too it was a journey of being able to keep it up at all to then being able to move my arms or legs while I kept it up... It was baby steps and I feel silly for not filming it because I could show more of what it looked like. Absolutely please document your progress because it will make you feel amazing when you can look back a few weeks or months or even years later. It feels amazing to see how far we've come! For me, too it's incredible looking back at this and still remembering the first time I even unpacked that hoop and the joy when it did a few revolutions around me... Or even stressing about taking it out to the garden worrying about the neighbours laughing at me...🤣 It's just magic unfolding 💗 enjoy 💗💗💗

This is really inspiring... I am hooping with a weighted hoop since a week now. Just because you said they are easier to keep up. I still only manage to keep the hoop up a few seconds ... I practice every day... is it possible I'll just never manage?
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper 5 ай бұрын
Indeed, the weighted hoop is the easiest to start with. We all start off with different fitness levels. It is not just your core strength but also your cardiovascular fitness and your coordination: they are all part of the TOTAL OF YOUR FITNESS. Some of us are more coordinated but have poor cardio. Some have great cardio but poor coordination... so our pace & experience and struggles are going to be wildly different. One thing is guaranteed: if you keep trying and do not give up: ALL OF IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER! No need to worry, please never doubt yourself! When I started I looked hopeless with my first hoop attempts but just carried on and tried my best believing in myself. In the beginning that is the hardest: to believe in yourself. But your body has the same potential to improve as everyone else's. Your cardiovascular fitness shall improve a bit more each time, your coordination uplevels as your body becomes more familiar with the moves you are trying to do... it will keep getting easier and easier! What you are doing: 'practicing every day' is PERFECT! What is happening essentially is that you are giving your body a new movement culture. It has to get into the habit of putting effort into exercise and coming up with solutions and it will reward you with adaptations. You'll change with every workout - it may feel like baby steps but that is what we all have to cope with. In our heads we are all ready for our fit new chapter and we are mentally ready for a new body we desire. The body takes a little while to catch up. It is happening though! To you, too! We are all carving a body every single day with all of our actions! We can build a netflix body that is accustomed to be sedentary and avoids challenges. We can also make decisions each day to push ourselves a bit. If all you manage is a few seconds: try and repeat a couple of times a day! First thing you wake up and then when you get home from work and then before bed. Your body is under constant reconstruction based on your activities. You have all it takes! with work ethic like yours, trying every day: You shall victoriously achieve all you ever want for yourself! keep this up, you're awesome! 🏆

@BeeVargaTheHulahooper
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper Ай бұрын
Thank you 🙏 I am 100% sure about that! Before hooping I never really had good coordination and struggled with most workouts and sports. Hooping made it interesting for me to concentrate on moving my body & where attention goes energy flows 🫶 so I got fitter and more skilled - since I started hooping - it was like I received a magic wand: whatever I try, it feels easy and I am fairly good at it... in the past I felt like I am just hopeless and doomed... Probably we all just need 1 thing! to fall in love wih 1 activity that helps our development and then that boosts our body awareness, spatial awareness, balance, etc. and those skills will help us perform well at a lot of other things 💗 have fun moving your body & playing and making epic discoveries about all the things you can achieve 🫶🏆

@BeeVargaTheHulahooper
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Gorgeous ❤️ my diet is very seasonal and local. I try to grow as much of our own food as possible. It is permaculture principles that I use and we have huge amounts of berries, veg and salad this way. I do buy seeds and nuts because those I cannot quite grow or process here. I eat lots of sunflower and pumpkin seeds, all kinds of nuts. I make all of our own jams, ferments, sauces and pickles so it is as natural as possible. It is not something I could do when I still lived in England and juggled commute, work and all... but I moved us to Latvia with my little girl and I show her how things grow and what it takes to put food on the table - so for me it's a multi purpose activity to produce food. It is education so I can teach my little girl to value food and not waste and to use seasonal ingredients in a variety of ways to eat fresh as well as how to preserve it all for the rest of the year. I drink a lot of herbal teas, too. I grow most of them but also forage them in the local woods. We pick lots of mushrooms and berries from the woods. I take my little girl for lessons to learn bushcraft skills and fishing, too. So I understand it is not easy to do for everyone and our nutrition is wildly different from most people's but it's been a dream. It took years to get here. When I lived in England I worked too many hours but the money we'd spent on living expenses and childcare... and then I decided I risk it all and try a cheaper location in Eastern Europe... so if I don't make that much money we can live more simply but hang out together more... and that almost transformed our diet from standard to divine. It is insane labour... but extremely satisfying. It is a legacy I wanted to pass on. When I'm gone, I have this kid that I left behind with all the skills to grow and forage for her own superior quality nutrition if she chooses to. She may end up in London eating McDonald's still 🤣🤣🤣 but while I was in charge, I know I did my absolute best. Terribly long story of what I eat 🤪🤣 As long as you aim for unprocessed and natural: you're winning 👌🥇🏆💋 every little helps 😚💖 in the UK I used to get weekly veg boxes from the local organic farm. That was natural and seasonal and local and it made me happy back then. But now I cannot describe the feeling when we sit down at the end of the day and eat a massive bucket of beetroot salad or stir fry etc. And all of it we grew together using only nature. No pesticide, no fungicide, no packaging, no air miles, no sitting on the shelf on the grocery store... garden to table kind of yumminess.

Do you think the basic hula hooping is what helped back pain for you or do you suggest other moves? Thank you so much for the great video!
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper 3 жыл бұрын
I had acupuncture, osteopathy treatments and all sorts before... but gave up on those when I started hooping and the pain gradually went away... I believe that it was my weight and not being strong enough for it. So to have that much to carry and hold all day when you're otherwise unfit is a lot of strain on the back. But I got fit, grew muscle as the fat was melting off me... so instead of carrying just dead weight I got strong supportive muscles and strong bones. It is different for everyone and if anyone else has back pain I cannot tell if hooping will help because we may experience completely different pain for different reasons. But I didn't do any other exercises. Just hooping 💗 I was just doing the basics when I started and it worked for me 💗

Wowwww. So impressed. How long did you start hooping for to loose weight?
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper 3 жыл бұрын
It wasn't much weight lost but size. I dropped from UK size 14 to UK size 8 in 6 months. My weight hasn't changed that much but I looked like a different person. When we are sedentary much of our weight is our fat... But when we exercise we increase muscle mass and bone density which looks smaller but weighs a lot. That can be a reason why many people even gain weight when they start exercising but start dropping inches and look smaller.

love the motivational video. Have just started the 21 day programme. Just some feedback about the hula hoop on Amazon- I found the tape started coming off and it snags and has ruined my favourite workout tshirt! I am looking for a new hoop!
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper 3 жыл бұрын
The tapes all come off eventually. We all strip our hoops and re-tape them. Especially if used a lot, wear and tear is going to make your hoop look tired. Even in gymnastics hoops are retaped regularly. Tarmac or rough ground can do more damage, carpet or smooth floor is not that bad but if it hits furniture etc then even the floor doesn't help. I have a video on my channel how to cover your hoop in fabric and I also show how to strip and tape it so there are different methods but all are necessary when we hoop a lot. It's still better than a hoop looking new with no signs of wear just collecting dust in a shed 😉 so keep trashing your hoop, it means you are using it 💗

@BeeVargaTheHulahooper
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Mathy, had a quick look on Etsy UK! There are lots! Amazon sometimes runs out of stock and that I cannot control, so I am sorry the link did not help. If you search Etsy UK for a 25mm HDPE hoop I would go for a 36-40" diameter one or something like that. If you get in touch with the seller they surely will be interested in getting back to you and you can tell them about your size and fitness level and they should be able to advise. I think 25mm HDPE is brill because that is what we use around the waist for fitness. Polypro hoops are very popular but they are for hand moves mostly or for skinny young people.... I am not any of those LOL so I use 25mm HDPE and that is what I recommend if you want to spin it around your core mostly and not on your hands. I just looked and there are a lot of UK sellers and you can choose colours and even have options for travel hoops which are collapsible or just non-collapsible ordinary hoops. I use non-collapsible - but they suit me fine, I don't fly much just hoop in the kitchen or garden... if you travel a lot, a collapsible hoop is better for you. Etsy is a great website and if ordered from within the UK I can imagine it gets delivered to you quickly! so you can get started :D

Hello Sarrah, I did gradually eat better. Not done any exciting huge changes all in one go but I swapped drinks and juices from shops and coffee shops to herbal teas and water... more water... I also started eating more veg, berries, salads and started to gradually have more and more fresh and organic produce. Initially my nutrition was quite criminal but I suppose the more fun I had hooping and moving my body the more I respected it so the better nutrition I gave it. I did not count calories or weighed my food. I always eat when I'm hungry. I hope that helps 💖 whatever you want to achieve: you can do it, you have all it takes 💋💋💋✨️👌🙌

@BeeVargaTheHulahooper
@BeeVargaTheHulahooper Жыл бұрын
@Sarrah Conley a 30 day challenge may as well become a rest-of-your-life challenge. Just include changes that are sustainable and promote your wellbeing and that way you will get the c section tummy sorted and you will be able to maintain your results and keep getting fitter and better. Intermittent fasting is a cool one to combine with hooping. Maybe give it a try and see if it feels doable or effective. One side will forever feel a little iffy. It's just life really. We always keep raking leaves or hoovering or picking our kids up on the dominant side that feels more efficient and practical and safer... so hooping is a pretty good way to help you notice imbalances and work on them. But I'm a little one sided, too like we all are. It's normal. For our daily tasks we always seem to have a preference, we always choose the same side for getting things done. But with hooping you can give your other side some extra love 💖💖💖
