That's because she grows heirloom tomatoes. Most people are only aware of the tomatoes in the stores. Those in the stores are hybrids and dont taste good. Heirloom tomatoes have a much better taste to them and you can save the seeds to plant for next year.

Apparently there are tons of Chienese thought she faked it at first and have a team helping her so, then thousands of people from rural China came out and defended her saying that she did pretty things up but country side are like this. And when your life do not have alot of distraction/entertainment in a middle of mountain you become very productive just so you don't bored to death. In her interview she talked about she is from a very poor family (even by Chinese standard) and abused by her step mother when her father died. She then move in with her grandparents, Her grandfather was a chef and taught her how to cook. Later when he became too old to work so she went into the city and became a child labor working for restaurants and bars. She also talked about alot of what she knows isn't that special the for older generations. She was also pretty upfront about hiring a cameraman and a part time assistant when it took her months shoot and cut her videos. She also talk about how much research, trail and errors she went through just to make some of the stuff in her video. I mean I wouldn't call her place fake per se, Chinese call Sichuan 天府之國 (kingdom of heavenly land) for two thousand years for a reason. The land is so fertile there you can grow all sort of things. People from the rural area in different fourms talked about how she took some poetic liberty on portraying the country side, but didn't overly exaggerate it. Isn't that out of ordinary and many older Chinese viewers was pretty nostalgic watching her video because she is kind of portraying many rural people's "good old days".

I believed her grandparents taught her all these knowlages. It's how our ancestors passed the culture to us. I remember when my grandma and uncle tried to teach me all these local knowladges, but i was a stupid kid who ran away because I people in the city told me that these knowladges are old-fashion and stupid. Now I grown-up and feel sorry for what I ran away from. I start to learn it again and found that those city people who blamed on any knowladges were stupid. However, by that stupid idea, some old cultures have gone such as some herbs. So I plan to study tranditional medicine to reach those herbs and bring them back.

It’s beautiful I spend every afternoon on my garden and it’s not even close to that garden!

@daniel holden In China, people own farmland and because of the huge and cheap land with rich soil, they can plant/farm on it. The beautiful climate and altitude also plays a part. She is a city girl but really loves and takes care of her grandma very well. Unlike most city dwellers who can't cook, she is great in what she showed on video. Just look at the way she chopped the meat bones and vegetables, she definitely loves the farm that her family lives on. Of course, I'm sure she got some of her recipes from neighbouring farm cause in China, they share generously.

@daniel holden I have been to China a few times. Beautiful climate, scenic, huge farmland, with many free range animals. I have seen their farm and interacted with the farmers and their city dwelling relatives too. They are wonderful people and farm-cooked food is exotic and delicious, not to mention, generous too!
