For more than 30 years, Dr. John Bargh has been doing research into the unconscious brain which has informed books like Blink and Thinking Fast and Slow.
In this talk, Dr. Bargh distills key findings from his research and the field in general. Here are just two insights of many that he dives into. How do feelings of safety relate to social attitudes? How does being warm or cold influence how one feels about other people?
He expands on these and more in his book “Before You Know It: The Unconscious Reasons We Do What We Do”.

He was talking so fast that I checked to see if the video speed was set to 1.5x or something, but I think it's just because I'm high.

What an interesting topic. It looks like psychology is going to be completely redesigned in the near future by statistics and big data. OMG

Production failed to show what the speaker is looking at as he speaks. Frustrating to watch when you cannot relate, it might as well have been audio only. Smarter recording is needed and surprised Google produced this.

He's nervous. It doesn't mean he isn't smart. Personally I think all he does is remark on very obvious things. I knew him for many years -- dated him. He's kind of a mess.

Dont be fooled. What are his insights? Holding a warm cup makes people feel better? Some of our feelings are hard wired but training can overcome them? All this was said before. I dont know why anyone is impressed with his act.

He first started talking about what it was not. This causes you to form pictures in your mind and Associate them to him and the picture of the brain that he is talking about. Very confusing at the start. Also if I take 1st impression I don't trust him.

I wonder if Mr Bargh is conscious that his adding partisan political examples might harm (not always help) the trust he wants to develop with an audience?

He's taking a stand on moral - issues. That is admirable. And it's what you're supposed to do- not avoid them because you're afraid that morality might offend someone.

@@anona2889 I sense it's as much or more a preferred partisan political stance. Obvious he is free to do so but again, I just questioned whether he saw his political examples might harm his presentation to a vast number of individuals. Maybe the point is that he might not give a high priority to that. Reminds me of the old expression, "preaching to the choir".
