Louie said on a podcast that a pyramid is only as big as its base. There is no map, no instructions, no basis for beginners and people who want to start training and use the conjugate method. There are a few articles on the internet and on your website and a book or two by anyone, but there isn't a proper plan or book to hand out to a beginner who want to learn how to use the conjugate method step by step from scratch to start training and how to build a foundation, whether if it´s a regular meathead who want´s to get muscular, strong and fit, a dad whose goal is to stay healthy and strong, or for someone who want to become an athlete or powerlifter. Guys please work on a book for all groups of beginners to complete Loius legacy because something like this is missing from the strongest gym in the world which is Westside Barbell

Louie said the club would die with him. But he didnt realize that he was speaking as a living legend. An although he has passed. Legends never die. Nor does knowledge. His hard earned reputation and training methods live on. He put profits at the bottom of his list. And thats why he was able to climb to the top of the weight training world. He had one focus,getting stronger , and that goal was never out weighed by dollars. When he spoke almost every sentence was qoutable. He recalled lift numbers with ease . Because he respected the fact that Those record numbers were not earned with ease. He no only respected the weights, He loved them. And he shared that love with the lifters around him to such an extent that they truly believed he loved them as well . His lifters yearned for his powerful father like love, and that love resonates in all of the westside learning materials. Louie simmons was more than the godfather of weight training, he was the father of it and still is. I wish he was still here to rattle out information faster than i can digest it. But the truth is , i still cant totally comprehend all he has shared in the available material. Louie simmons may have died a sick old man, but he louie simmons damn sure never lived like one.

Hi! This video series is so good, very clear and concise! I'm just a bit confused about the routine variety you mention. You state main excerises should be rotated weekly, but in the prior video you state a common pitfall is excessive variety and that routines should only be changed every 3-4 weeks. I'd appreciate a bit of clarity if possible. Thanks!

Hi, what level of strength development should one have prior to implementation of maximal effort as described in the conjugate system? A bench of 300, squat 400 and Deadlift 500?
@WestsideBarbellOfficial
@WestsideBarbellOfficial Жыл бұрын
While there are no max lift prerequisites, we generally recommend total beginners accrue at least one year of basic strength training prior to implementing max effort training into their regimen. For advanced methods to be successful it is important for the individual to have built the foundational strength and physical conditioning necessary to maximally benefit from the training.

@@WestsideBarbellOfficial I ask because after reading Louie Simmons' books, he mentions between 3 to 5 years of foundation work. I assume that would mean that you can at least hit 300, 400 and 500 in the big 3

4:05 Isn't this the exact explanation why dynamic effort method is irrelevant for building maximal strength? Edit: OK, I've found this explanation in the article: "This shows the dynamic method is not used for increasing maximal strength, but only to improve the rate of force development and explosive strength." The question is why would we waste our time on developing qualities that unneeded in a max strength sport (not speed-strength) such as powerlifting?

Max effort training focuses on the development of absolute strength. Dynamic effort focuses on the development of explosive power and improving rate of force development. If we develop the capability to produce great force it only makes sense to also improve our ability to quickly reach a high level of force output. For any athlete, including powerlifters, to be as strong and capable as possible it is critical to address all special strengths present on the force velocity curve. Keep in mind, our dynamic effort training also contributes significantly to our total training volume, further enhancing overall strength and conditioning levels. This is why the Westside Barbell Conjugate Method is the optimal training system for all athletes no matter the sport.
