I have to tell you; I love watching this video! It gives me a thrill watching you guys take those corners, and reminds me so much of my riding days, I wish I had ridden a track, all our riding was on the open road... My brother turned me on to Superbikes at age 66, when he was 68. He was my 'trainer' and mentor, he laid down the line and I learned by following him. He was a former #1 motocross/enduro rider, then went to Supers, on our rides there would be 10 to 15 young riders from Indiana, Ohio, and Ky who came to ride with us because my brother had a reputation from there to the hills of North Carolina, 'The Dragon' was one of our 'go to' roads. We rode like this on the crooked roads of Northern Kentucky, not as fast, but leaving no 'chicken stripes' on the tires. We had it figured that on the safe speed curves of 35 MPH, we could take them at 70-75 and come through easily, on the straight we hit 130 most of the roads we looked for had short straights. we also traveled to Ga, NC, and WVA. My brother rode a Honda 'Smokin Joe' (the Camel team race bike), an F-3 600, and a Kawasaki 636, I began my ride on an F-4 Honda 600, then to a VFR 800 V4 Honda. My brother had a stroke and died in 2016 at age 79, I had my bike on the trailer, camera mounted on the front on my way to meet him and the other riders in Florence, KY, to video him on his 80th birthday, I was 77, he was 5 days away from 80. (Just before my brother died, we had turned the Smoking Joe speedo to 100,000 Miles), it remains to this day in mint condition, now kept by his grandson) Thetailpiece on the Smoking Joe is signed by several of the top Superbike pro racers of the80s and 90''s. Rossi, Fogarty, Corser, Russell, Kocinsk, Edwards, with Nori Haga and Frankie Chili. I kept riding those roads until 2019, riding those roads, but it was not the same with my lead man not there, I sold the bike. Sorry this is so long!

This was beautiful and calming in a way. really enjoyed it. (thank you for not putting music to it, those 4 cylinders purring is just the touch)

Just watched your vid for the first time. Reminds me of me on my first few track days. Hopefully you ignored those that told you to "push it". All you need to do is practice and learn to get the lines, turn ins and braking points sorted. Then you'll be getting closer to the apexes and taking the faster lines. Once you've sorted that - then you can begin to push it a little. I'm sure you have given this vid is a couple of years old now. Well done.

Some of these people are so close to having really good form. They just need to move their heads lol. No point in hanging off really far when only 2/3 of their body is doing it XD Nice bike! Those pics look so good!

That was pretty slow, but its more important to ride within its own limits than being cocky and end up smashed into pieces. Your riding seems super safe. Try pushing it bit by bit, go on the brakes later and accelerate harder. Practice downshifting at high revs, so you have power available when needed. Not bad otherwise, just needs practice.

Hey, I enjoyed your video thanks. I have done a couple of track days in the old days and enjoyed it greatly, taking out a first place on my first race (beating the local motocross champion of the day). Good to see that you are taking a steady and smooth approach. Concentrate on the apex of the corner, you have to hit it every time. Also keep in a higher gear through the corner, takes a bit more throttle control but will give you a higher speed out of the corners and onto the straight sections.

I raced way back in the 80s . What you learn is as a beginner you think everyone has a better bike . Tires ,brakes ,motor what ever . I know I did . Then if you really learn and get better at a club level me vs me on same track three years later mid pack or better 750 novice 1:35 to up front expert 1:22 on a 600 stock .. sure tires improved but mostly learning most is mental visualization and being willing to fall . But always remember your limit changes with ability . I like most buy a dirt bike much cheaper to crash learning basics that transfer to the track.

I would just like to comment I have been riding since 1986 I have had 50cc 125 and 500cc two-strokes I then ventured over to four-stroke, vee twins V4fours and inline fours and everytime I sold A machine it was because I thought I had outgrown it or I was getting overconfident, but I now know I had just mastered it. I returned to biking after 10 yrs of family commitments and bought a CBR 600F4 and I was disappointed, as the bike handled poorly compared to my last bike a VFR400RR, not only was the bike bigger and heavier it was very wide/fat, the engine had to be revved hard in and out of bends to excite and generally felt cumbersome. Today I am riding a VTR 1000F FIRESTORM and this bike handles better than my CBR in every way, brakes excellent, engine power 75% more in every gear and it feels lighter and slimmer and it inspires confidence, what I am getting at is, if you find a bike you feel you have mastered or ridden for a long time with and you are confident with, FFS don`t sell it put it on the track! I wished I had not sold my RDLC V4 500YPVS or indeed my Castrol coloured VFR400RR as they are hard to find and almost impossible to buy now. Loved the video and as explained you can ride fast when you have confidence in the bike, gel as one or have ridden it for some time:) I used to teach people to ride and after showing them how to brake/stop 1st, the second lesson was slow/steady and underwhelmed into a bend and controlled observational awareness with speed out of a bend, if this can be achieved consistently then races can be won:) Pps I don`t play the late brake game to win a corner on anything bigger than a 125 either as this can be disastrous and dangerous plus if your not on the Carl Foggertys pay packet it`s a waste of time:)

Try to loosen up a bit and put your trust in the grip your tires can provide. I can tell you are tense by the way the bike is reacting to your inputs. I have been riding for 12 years, and I realized long ago I don't have what it takes to ride a super sport. I sold it and have been much happier on my M109R. Maybe you are just getting the feel for the track, I don't know. Either way stay safe, and always remind yourself to ride limber and loose. You'll progressively get faster the more you find yourself learning to trust the bike and the physics behind how bikes work from a scientific standpoint.

Man, some YT commentators can really be harsh critics! Thankfully some good advice further down the list, but I figured I'd post something positive just to even it out a bit.. I've been waiting on the weather to do my 1st track day (they keep getting cancelled). So I've been watching YT track sessions and proper rider technique & skill building videos to help prep when I can't be out practicing. You caught some good footage & I can see what you mean by the Superbike rider, after 2 corners he's literally out of frame because he's so far ahead. While admittedly, it's not really the video I was expecting, (given the title). it's averaging over 1,000 views a day for you, so at least it's an effective one. Keep at it & ride safe.

Its very interesting to see that you think that its differences between bikes that matter. Out of all bikes in the video, no bike can beat the "worst bike if it has the best wheels, e.g. carbonfiber or forged magensium WITH really good SLICK tires IF you DONT!!!!!!" Tires and wheels are by far the most important factor at a slow track like that. You have no need for power above 150 hp, actually its often more of a problem then an advantage. I always say that out of all people that roadrace, only 1-3% are faster on a full blown 1000 CC. So in a minor league somewhere, its very likely that non of the people on the track would set a faster time around the track on a 1000 cc vs on the same bike with a 600 cc engine. I find it so funny to hear some one say that some one is faster because you have a powerful bike on a track, unless it is the Portland track, we even have special slicks for that track due to super high average speeds. Not even Spokane needs that kind of tire as the fast section is only a straight at Spokane raceways. At Pacific raceways its much slower and much more technical with elevations and bumpy asphalt etc. When I went from regular road tires to magnesium rims with slicks, on pacific raceways, I cut 6 seconds of my lap times instantaneously, on the very first full speed lap, only one warm up lap and 6 seconds disappeared to never ever come back. Brakes needed updating after that, it got to hot for original equipment with 20-40% better traction.

Going fast is easy, in a sraight line. Look up the mechanics of how a 'bike goes round a bend. It's scary! Learn to out-brake and go faster in and out of the bends. Confidence in the machine is everything.

You take the "something's wrong with my bike" line. That guy passed you on the racing line. I'm glad ya had fun, but I'm surprised it didn't happen more. Ask an instructor or someone fast in the pits to follow their line and pace... if you really want to see what you and your bike can do. Glad you got out there though, fulfilling your dreams!

Your lines need improving.. You're missing the apex on almost every corner and its putting you off line which means you end up on parts of the track that are slippery and its slowing you down a lot.. But hey, you're having fun and learning so good for you..

Where is this at ..?

Most trackday orgs will say its safe to pass (in novice) anywhere except the inside, and the inside is anywhere from the point the rider turns in, all the way to the apex. You had not yet turned in.

Thats my old V4 Speciale not a 1199, and we were going slow as f*** because it’s a shit bike with shit electronic suspension!

R1 driver slow in corner R6 driver is faster in corner so it is not the bike its the driver all driver can be fast in straight depending on what bike you have but in corners it doesnt matter what bike you have wht does matter is the skill of a driver and that is a fact period...

I hate the fact that no matter what you do, there is always a group of people who do it for a living, aka pros, that does it so much better than you

Note: that’s a new Ducati Panigale V4. Another reason he smoked you on your 08 R1. Nothing against your R1, I had an 07 and the bike has plenty of power and gives immense enjoyment but stands no chance vs a V4.
