The plaintiff contracted with the defendant to rent space for an event with 250 people. The plaintiff claims the defendant rented the venue to someone else just six days before the scheduled event, so he’s suing for breach of contract. The defendant argues the plaintiff didn’t pay and someone else offered him more money instead. He claims he did not even have a contract with the plaintiff to begin with.

What the defendant doesn't realize is the plaintiff had to spend $1,500 out of his own pocket versus the $2,500 bar minimum that would have come from the total amount of guests/ patrons pockets, not just the plaintiffs. At worst the plaintiff would have only needed to pay the difference. They just got greedy. Simple as that

Ok, so in order to get the venue for free, he just had to assure a $2500 bar minimum. So since the defendant had to actually pay $1500 for new venue, he got all that back (with no bar min), so he basically got a free party venue? Geez, which one got snookered?🤷🏻‍♂️
@Ven100
@Ven100 8 ай бұрын
@@stevelozano9523 The defendant likely would've not paid much or any at all since $2,500 / 200 people is only $12.50 per person. I'm sure you know people spend far more than that usually on a bar tab. Even with 150 people it's not much at all.

The business is so short-sighted chasing the quick buck. Trust, confidence, goodwill are all things money can't buy and can only be earned by doing good business. And by good I mean fair, honest and with integrity. They might have made more money that one night but in the long run, when people hear and learn about their business practices, they're going to find they have no business at all. I'm glad the plaintiff was able to find another venue and was able to have an enjoyable party. Especially with a cute friend like that.

What a jerk the defendant is! He may have thought that he was doing what was best and smart by taking the higher contract that night but he probably actually hurt his business in the long run, the reason I say that is because people aren't going to want to rent a venue if they think there could be a chance that the venue is going to cancel a couple of days before because they have a higher contract, not only that but these types of businesses heavily rely on referral by word-of-mouth so I would think he would want to do right by the customer and honor his obligation! His comment at the end saying the plaintiff only paid $1,500 for a venue so really he was saving money was the stupidest thing I ever heard! He also had a lot less people show up than he had intended so of course he got a smaller venue.
