Ben Hodges is always interesting to hear. He speaks such obvious common sense about the possible, the necessary, and doesn't speculate wildly about what isn't possible to know. Thanks for having him as a guest again and to him for accepting. I've been waiting to hear his thoughts on the situation in Russia and Pregozhin's mutiny..and where it might lead. But he's been saying for a year to give Ukraine the weapons it needs.. a return of all it's territory and membership of NATO. I'm hoping Pregozhin's weekend action will lead to that agenda coming about faster. Too many Ukrainians lives are at stake, too many Ukranian lives have already been tragically lost. Every day another civilian dies or is wounded. Every day too many soldiers are being blown apart and dying of wounds defending their country and being lost to their families, and their civilian skills lost to their country.

That is a thoughtful and well stated comment. Forgive me for repeating a comment I put in the main thread, but it seems to me you might get it? And you are right. Too much has been sacrificed already by Ukraine. It gets too easy to forget the human cost. And to forget that Ukraine is fighting for us too. My comment from above is as follows: Putin has shown that he ALWAYS backs down, every single time he has faced a genuine, serious, direct challenge. I honestly think the safest move for the world would be to demilitarise a zone around the Zaporizhzhia Power Station, create a no fly zone over that demilitarised area, and fly in volunteer experts to de-mine the place, and put in a team that can relieve the, by now, frayed and exhausted people who have been held hostage to manage the plant. It should be NATO’s absolute priority, shouldn’t it? An explosion, or leak, from Zaporizhzhia won’t just destroy Ukraine and a sizeable part of Russia, but the cloud could reach North America. In the worst case scenario, it would be 64 times bigger and more lethal than Chernobyl! Simply putting mines in there is already an act of terrorism and threat to the entire Northern hemisphere! They have shown they are stupid and desperate enough, as the blowing of the dam demonstrated. NATO’s virtual silence about this is utterly disturbing, as though they WANT a nuclear disaster? Putin is getting ALL of the, “value,” out of his nukes, right now, by milking western fears. That’s the ONLY, “bang for his buck,” he can get out of nukes, and he KNOWS THIS! But, we are creating the environment in which ACCIDENTS HAPPEN! And Russia has the worst record in history for nuclear accidents, both military and civilian! When they blew the dam, half of Russia’s own troops did not know it had happened and did not get out of the way in time, losing millions of dollars worth of vital equipment. So, it’s quite possible that someone accidentally set off those mines! WHY are we just WAITING for Russia to make another mistake??? Keep in mind that the Ukraine invasion was only the first giant miscalculation of SO MANY that came after up to now. Russia’s biggest weapon blew up in their face: the Wagner group. So, we already KNOW Putin’s judgement is appalling! And every hesitation of the west has been taken by Putin as an invitation to commit another atrocity! It’s time we called Russia’s bluff! NATO should, AT THE VERY LEAST, warn Russia about Zaporizhzhia and spell out the consequences of the nuclear terrorism that he is ALREADY subjecting us to!!!

@@leemorganio8156 Never heard him say that about last year.. he did say it about this coming December..if..they got the weapons they need. I still think that's possible they'll get to the coast splitting the Russians. If they can do that all they have to do is blow the Kirsch Bridge and the Russians to the West have lost their supply lines Easier said that done though with the land mines and without air support.. and I do I believe the Russians would blow up the Zaporozhye power plant if they think they are losing just to destroy the land on the Ukrainians..like they did the dam. It wouldn't bother them that many of their own soldiers would die because their story at home will be that the Ukrainians did it.. that regime is pure evil and only interested in their own gangster lives. Ordinary Russians are no more value to them than cattle..nor anyone else's lives...

Greetings from Canada. Ukraine has 2 great challenges: 1, obviously, is get rid of the invader and 2, just as difficult, get rid of the corrupt mentality that 100 years of RuZZian domination brought to Ukraine. How will Ukraine do #2? eg: On LindyBeige and WillyOAM channels, western volunteers are interviewed and they salute Ukrainian bravery but were shocked at the corruption (When you spend your own money to buy equipment and go to risk your life in Ukraine, you don't expect your commander to steal your weapons!) Love the thermostat analogy and yes, the West was dilly dallying and dialing back for years at the cost of innocent lives. A war is not hands across the aisle politicking. It is horrible damage and unfair costs to the victims every time.
@the6millionliraman

But it's interesting that China is playing the same thermostat game too. Like while Russia's gaze is sidetracked in vying to expand/reclaim its illusory/extinct imperialistic/revanchist sphere of influence, in the meantime China is "thermostating" Russia into becoming the neo-imperialistic/revanchist expansionist backyard of China. Just Russia hasn't realized (or is refusing to realize) it yet. At this point, on the geopolitical chessboard, it seems inevitable that Russia will become China's minor partner. Maybe to all effects Russia already is.

This humble Texan seems to be the wisest American currently alive. I have been listening to his commentary for nearly a year now, and he has been spot on in his analysis and outlook. His time in the service has clearly given him a unique understanding of international relations and the military realities in the world today. He is a valuable resource that the good guys should listen closely to.

I think Ret. Gen. Ben Hodges hit the nail on the head when he opined that Vladimir Putin values loyalty more than compatense with respect to MOD Shoigu. In fact I will further say that russian MOD Shoigu and Army chief Valery Gerasimov don't even look frightening as someone in their position should engender much fear. They have the look of resigned passivity ironed on their faces. Well done Gen Ben Hodges.

Why does the US continue to pump up the figures of russia’s nuclear forces. We’ve done nothing of consequence to deflate Putlers chest by revealing the truth of how few weapons of serviceable qualities exist in the Russian stockpile.

Vlad Vexler talks about the depoliticization of Russia. Seems that cuts both ways and extends to the army as well. There are indeed regular army units along the route taken to Moscow. Training units, yes, but no one seems to have left their bases. Great interview as always.

@@minimaxmiaandme.4971 Yes. And this one has no credentials. He had probably more of a Jewish than Russian upbringing, was not political/sociological conscious during the years he lived in Russia, studied philosophy later and is engaged with musical aesthetics. AFAIK he has visited his Russian relatives 3 or 4 times during the last 35 years and has read some Russian literature. But with eloquence you can dupe a lot of people.

Love General Hodges! The ultimate, complete victory of Ukraine would be an amazing lesson to the rest of the world. It would also give strength to the peace faction in China and prevent any idea of a military take over of Taiwan, allowing the status quo to continue which is what 65% of Taiwanese want in poll after poll.
