Marc NY exactly cuz he could guard the whole court had had zero offensive game. But he’d get offensive rebounds and put all his effort into the defensive side or setting hard picks for his guards to get open.

Even tho Offense >> Defense in Basketball, Ben Wallace elevated the defensive side of the team soooo much, that he clearly without a question should be a HOF by then, even if his stats aren't impressive as much, remember the Pistons played a really slow pace considering the era they were in, so his stats show more impact then what it shows and his Defensive mindset is impacted big time. 4x

Every year that Ben Wallace made the playoffs with Detroit, the Pistons allowed the least playoff PPG amongst all playoff teams for 5 consecutive years from 2002-2006. The Pistons also played at least 10+ games in each of those playoff runs, so they did not have these good defensive numbers just because of a small sample size of games from losing in the 1st round. Only two other teams have done this for 3 consecutive years - 1964-1966 Celtics (while competing amongst only 6 playoff teams) - 1988-1990 Pistons Ben Wallace also led the 2008 Cavs to the number 1 playoff defense in PPG and DRTG, lower even than the 2008 Celtics led by DPOY Kevin Garnett. Before acquiring Ben Wallace - the 2008 Cavs allowed 98.2 ppg through 55 games - this would be ranked 11th in the league In the 22 regular season games that Ben Wallace played with the Cavs - the 2008 Cavs allowed 91.6 ppg - this would be ranked 4th in the league In the 2008 playoffs, with Ben Wallace starting every game - the 2008 Cavs allowed 87.8 ppg - this was the lowest ppg allowed by any team in the playoffs This means that Ben Wallace led the number 1 playoff defense in PPG allowed 6 different times. And he did it while playing in at least 10+ games in each of those playoff runs. So again, it wasn't just because of a small sample size of games in a 1st-round exit that his teams allowed those low PPG numbers. I don't believe anyone else has led this many number 1 playoff defenses in PPG allowed. Bill Russell led 4 teams that had the number 1 playoff PPG defense amongst all teams (1961, 1964-1966) but only competed amongst 6 playoff teams compared to 16 from 1984-present. Russell's Celtics had it significantly easier than Ben's Pistons/Cavs, since they only had to maintain the best defense while competing against 5 other teams as opposed to 15 other teams for Ben Wallace's 2002-2008 Playoffs. So Russell is the one player who comes closest to Ben Wallace in leading the most #1 playoff PPG defenses, but did so under far easier circumstances due to competing against a much smaller pool of competition.

You don't have to put others down to put somebody up. That's not a fair assessment at all. Yao changed basketball globally. He was the first big name player from China and brought attention to the sport and new overseas fans by the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS. He contributed largely to China's newfound love of basketball and the NBA becoming the second biggest sport in the world. His impact on the game transcends the NBA and it transcends any stats or lack of tenure in his career.

What amazed me the most about Ben Wallace was his physique. I genuinely believe he is the physically STRONGEST player to ever play in the NBA...yes stronger than Wilt Chamberlain and Karl Malone. Ben Wallace was a freak of nature. If he wasn't in the NBA, he could probably play the Hulk or Beast from X-Men. He wasn't by any means the most talented person or even the most athletic, but he had this insane work ethic. You could tell he pressed hard in the weight room, his biceps were bigger than some players legs. People forget he came into the nba UNDRAFTED, so he's another perfect example that hard work pays off. Now, I don't know if he's a HOF but he's definitely in the HWOF (hard work of fame).

I don't believe any of that information, none of it is verified. Its just hear-say. A lot about Wilt Chamberlain is just hyperbole... the fact that he scored 100 pts or grabbed 55 rebounds in a single game. I don't care about Wilt Chamberlain, he always got owned by a much smaller opponent Bill Russell in the NBA finals. Wilt was massively overrated. He was a stat-padder that achieved NBA 2K stats against 5'5" white dudes. Nobody has been able to garner anywhere near those stats since Wilt played because do you honestly think Wilt could get 55 rebounds against DeAndre Jordan or Dwight Howard? Of course not. Everything about Wilt was exaggeration...like did you know Wilt Chamberlain lost his virginity before his dad did? I'm sick of all these fucking uncorroborated Wilt myths cause I've heard them all. He could bench-press a million pounds with his penis.. yea I'm sure he could...

There is nothing wrong with being behind Ben he's underrated. People say there was no stars in that Detroit team no Big Ben Wallace was a star for sure. just not to the average nba fan who doesnt realize scoring is only one aspect of the game.

Ben Wallace was a great defender but any Piston fan knows he had that tap back offensive move that gave the offense 2, 3 or more times to drain the shot. If it's an offensive rebound and an assist at the same time I propose we have a new "tap back" stat. In that he would surely be the goat 🐐

He is surely deserving of the Hall Fame. PUT BIG BEN IN!!! he was one of my favorites he was very fun and exciting to watch he had great work ethic, great great athletic ability , and great physical specimen he played against players taller than him bigger than him and more than holding his own every night. Big Ben provided quality leadership to that Detroit Piston championship team. Everybody in the league respected BIG BEN !!!

LikeMike294 Everything relating to basketball does. But his college career should strengthen his case if anything, back to back Championship game appearances and the Fab 5 changed so much of the culture surrounding freshmen ball in the NCAA.

DJ D-Rex I assume something to do with his scandal at uofm . technically that was removed from the history books. So without that college career he doesn't have a strong hall of fame case
@xelefonte
@xelefonte 6 жыл бұрын
Chris Webber deserves to be in the Hall of Fame for a number of reasons but most importantly he was a great talent, one of the best passing PFs to ever play and had a prolific career. He's a great person and people forget his impact to the league. The Fab 5 is solely responsible for the longer shorts...before Webber, you could see dudes ass cracks. People credit Michael Jordan for the longer shorts, no it was entirely Webber and the Fab 5 who started it all.
