Now that you have a baseline, don't hesitate to try different things to create your own procedure A good quality rear bag is expensive, so I know what you are asking. Tracking is the main goal in any bag that you buy. Is this for group or score - short or long range Benchrest? Are there shooters in your area that would be willing to let you try theirs before buying anything? I'm an Edgewood fan, but there are some other really good ones out there. You could also go to a Benchrest Forum and ask what rear bags people with the same stock design you have are using. That might narrow your choices down (or the opposite???) Not sure how much this helps, but there is not a "one size fits all" rear bag. Let me know how it goes

@@ctdshooting Thank you forgetting back w/ me, Jason. Any and all info helps. My application is informal, for score, 50, maybe 100 yd rimfire BR at my local club. Nuthin' fancy. I have a Masterpiece Arms chassis which has a bag rider. I'm heading out there now as a matter of fact. I will see if I can test drive some other bags while there. (Good idea.)

Thank you for the comment. It is very hard to argue what you typed. However, It is important to remember that many of the accuracy/precision improvements that find their way to other competition shooters and hunters come from Benchrest. Without this type of equipment, many of the subtle changes would be "lost in the noise"

Thanks for the questions. The rear bag is an Edgewood Gator. I use heavy sand in the base and regular "playground" sand (that has been strained to get the bigger pieces out) in the ears. The base is as hard as I can get it. (I had to add sand several times the first half a year or so). The ears have some give to them. No air pockets - but not rock hard either. Yes, my buttstock does ride on the top of the rear bag. I've heard/read reports where that might not be ideal.

Thanks for the question. I'm not sure what "a rake to it means", but the ear spacing is a topic of controversy. 2 major theories. 1. Don't let your stock hit the stitching. 2. Let the stock ride the stitching. Personally, I let my stock hit the stitching. My recommendation (before you spend the money on a rear bag) ask people in your area if you can try their rear bags to see which one you and the rifle like better. Hope this helps. Sorry it was not a definite answer, but when you get to your level of precision a lot is based on what the rifle likes.

Yes, the front rest is a Seb. The rear bag is Edgewood. The spotting scope stand was made by a local machinist.
