IMHO This Benchmade Arvensis Is Near Perfection, if they would have left the finger choil out and added a leather belt loop to the "Black Boltaron sheath" which is a variation of Kydex best I can tell by my research This knife would be PERFECTION... You Did such a nice job with this Video I had to watch it again, look forward to seeing more from you.

The sheath isn't Kydex it's Boltoron, which is supposed to be more stable to high and low temps... That said, great review and I absolutely love mine. I have the DLC coated version that a have attached to my go bag. The grind lines on mine are perfect and I have to agree with you on the build quality of this knife.

Hey man, really enjoy your videos and i'm stoked about this new Benchmade as well. Some time soon when you get the chance you ought to do another full knife collection video. It's just a suggestion. Keep up the great work!

Did you cut yourself on your Index finger while holding it with the finger choil, I ask because I did playing with the same knife in the store put my finger in the finger choil for which I hate go figure , I just think there a waste of Blade cutting edge

+SREagle I have never cut myself yet but I agree a waste of cutting edge some knives almost require a finger coil this is not one of them

Thanks for the review. I bought one of these last night, even though I need another 6-7" fixed like a hole in the head. Just couldn't resist it at $160.00 shipped. Interesting comparison to the Buck 119..main difference being weight: 7.5 oz (no sheath, 10.5oz with sheath) for the Buck vs 11.74oz for the BM119 (no sheath). That's a significant weight savings for longer hikes. The Buck feels very light in hand, and retails for $55.00, a value that's may be impossible to beat for a quality USA produced knife from a great company. The BM119 sheath is not kydex. It is made of a tougher plastic. Do you have the total weight of the BM119 with sheath?

Say Heah, like I said, I like Scouting and long hikes, I wanted a steel to use in wet and snowy conditions, I luv my Busse Combat INFI Steel and one of my Fav's is my INFO Ratmandu, It's an excellent steel that covers both polls and climates. So I got the Aversis because of the steel and for what I'll be using it for, But for my fine tasks, I got the Bokor Ridgeback in 440c. and the two should match pretty close. I also have the Bokor Rold, But since it's more a semi steel I bought the Black. Again Thanx for a very formative review.

I seen this knife at my local knife store when I brought in a SOG tech Bowie to have them remove the the tech-loc and replace it with Leather upper I just like the feel of the Leather at the very least for the Belt Loop and I may get Benchmade and if I do I will have them do the same thing out with the tech-loc and in with the Leather Belt Loop. A leather belt loop moves more freely is more comfortable and I for one am not that lazy that I can't take off a belt to put a knife on. My Only other ding on this knife is the finger choil I Wish they would have gotten rid of it all together and brought the blade back within 3/16" of the guard. IMHO Most are to young or have been told by manufactures that got influenced by Big KZfaq Channels that this is a better way to hold a knife to make feather sticks etc... I have been using knives before they were cool lol, and having a blade going all the way back to the guard is Simpler and Easier to use just my opinion Enjoyed your Video tnx.

The knife is great the kydex belt fastener is to put it politely "crap". The fastener screw broke right away
@ehkruse1

It doesn't look like that thing is permanently riveted to the kydex. Looks like you can just unscrew it and remount for sideways mounting of the blade or whatever. Mine is coming in this week, and I'll probably put my tek-lok on it, if it fits. Did you keep this knife? I've hardly found any reviews of this thing. There's one "field test" video on youtube, and it looks promising i guess. I bought this thing even without the reviews because the design just looks ingenious by my standards.

I do still have this nice there been this is one of my favorites and you're right with the lack of information I love this night I've been surprised that there hasn't been more enthusiasm about it online I think the popularity will build over time once more people and some more mainstream reviewers find it it is a bit heavy in hand but other than that one of my favorite medium sized fixed blades and you're right about the mount coming off I actually made of leather snap belt loop for mine I posted a video about it and as well not a very good test video but me just beating the 119 into some wood on the trail
@Lugermonger35
@Lugermonger35 7 жыл бұрын
that's not what I was talking about not the mount the actual sheet the mount itself is made out of multiple pieces that are riveted together and then screwed to the sheath

I do like this knife one of my favorites I find myself putting on the 119 almost just out of habit however it is a decently large knife with the weight to match for an overall utility combat camping do everything knife the 119 is the better choice however I have had the opportunity to handle a protagonist it is much more handy concealable much smaller and lighter in weight than the 119 with a much thinner blade making it the better choice for self-defense or general EDC tasks the protagonist would be much less obtrusive to have on your hip or on your backpack but the 119 is a serious put to work blade I would trust with my life

Say Heah, I just ordered mine 10-6 for my B:Day, I also ordered the Bokor Ridgeback to team up with it. I specifically got it for wet and snowy weather, I will also team the new knives with either my G. B. Small Forest Axe or my H. B. 17" Agdor Hatchet and my Wicked Tough Saw I usually just carry a Haversack on long hikes. Eugene from Reviewsog.com. Made me the Axe Holster's, He's very reasonable and makes an excellent quality leather holster, So bring on the rain, If I waited for nice and sunny days, I would prolly miss 3/4ths of a year, Just exaggerating but yeah, I go out on rainy days, It's good practice for making fire in the rain, But anyhow that's why I got the 154 CM stainless and 440c of the Ridgeback. OH, I have the #162 Bushcrafter by Seibert and its one of my Fav's in that size.

I find 154 hard to sharpen and a knife at that size pfff. Super awesome knife still, I want it just cant justify it. I completely agree with you about benchmade grinds I have the same thing with my crooked river, and I just got my mini griptilian back from lifesharp service with half the fucking blade gone....the stoners there probably don't get paid much!

+David Habart Yeah, this knife has no practical use for me other than the few times I carry it horizontal on the small of my back for self defense, I think it's a great fighting knife since it feels lighter in hand and easy to swipe fast with it.

+David Habart I totally agree if Benchmade has any serious problems it's in their human resources department whoever is doing the hiring for Benchmade I don't think looks for properly motivated people or maybe it's just a lack of quality control I do love Benchmade but this problem is just too consistent

I have one on mine but the holes don't line up for horizontal carry for me so one screw had to go through one of the long holes but it's held up fine, had it for three and a half years now.

Sheath is Boltaron, not Kydex. Everything you said about Kydex is true about Boltaron. Boltaron is a flimsier material than Kydex.

Lets be honest, the sheath without the clip and the knife are well worth the 170.00 price tag, I attached a tek lok to mine, had to put two bolts through one of the strap holes and one through a standard hole in the sheath and it's rock solid now, I carry it on my lower back.
