The Benchmade 119 Arvensis is a blade I have had my eye on for quite a long time...and I finally got one. The concerns I had about the blade are true, but there are some features that I found are most excellent. Highly recommended.

Bought this back in 2019 and regularly use it when hiking, hunting, or just walking my dog in the neighborhood and need to protect myself from wild pitbulls. This is an absolutely fantastic knife that actually saved my life in 2021. I was white water rafting and fell out of the raft. As I was going down the river my vest got caught on a log in the river and I had water ramming into my face so hard I couldn't breath. I had this attached to my waste via a belt and I was able to cut my life jacket where it was snagged and float away.

Right off the gecko, I like this video as much as I like the looks of this knife. I'm seriously considering buying one, and came here for the reviews.

Thanks for watching. I like the Arvensis...Still own mine. I have ground down the top guard and modified my sheath for proper retention. I made a video about it if you're interested. Definitely a sweet knife though!

Great review. I agree 100% . Thumb ramp does kind of get in the way. I also noticed the tang in the bottom part of the handle when I've chopped. I love the knife it is a crossover for sure tactical and Bushcraft mix than one weaning a little heavier to the Tactical side I would say

It's definitely right in the middle...and I agree...more tactical. But I do like that style knife for general camp/wilderness use. The blade size is very useful...large enough for processing wood, but small enough for general tasks.

Thanks, tempt me with a $200.00 knife but it looks worth every penny.

If you like the molle vest, this blade is pretty sweet for a vertical carry on that. the retention is definitely good enough, but with the secondary strap, you'd be in great shape. (I scored this blade for $105 "used" even thought it was brand new...but shhhhh if I decide to resell this some day, I never admitted that). You can find a good deal on this blade...like I said in the video, I watched for a year before I bought one. That's honestly what I do with almost all the stuff you see me review.

Which would you prefer for a camping/survival the arvensis or the bushcraft im trying to decide?
@outerlimitless
@outerlimitless 4 жыл бұрын
Well, I think you'll like the Bushcraft better for more types of tasks and you'll use it more around the house...kitchen tasks, etc. The Arvensis would be better for processing a fire, but are you gonna pair it up with any other tools?

Benchmade discontinued this good looking knife.Hopefully, Benchmade will bring the knife back with CPM 4V steel or MagnaCut steel.

Benchmade are quality knives. But the price is holding me back for now. I'll probably get one later. Looks excellent for tactical and good for woods. Intended use must always be addressed. The chances of me using my knife for tactical use is very slim; however, it has happened. Therefore, I never buy any knife without a guard or good locking mechanism (folder). This knife has that as well as good steel, clip point, super sheath, and right blade length. I might have missed it, but what is the blade grind? Sabre?

I like a lower guard...but upper guard definitely doesn't work well for me. As you said, wilderness use is a big part of my blade use, so even if it could be used for that purpose, I wouldn't want the upper guard.

One great Factor you pointed out with that Banger Choi on the blade you cannot have a protruding top on the top part of the blade you cannot have that that was for the manufacturer's a snipe users we know this

Yes, that upper guard is brutal! I ground mine off to make it more ergonomic. It worked much better!

Say Heah Eric, I always said, "A good Military Tactical Knife will in the bush" and for a tactical looking knife, It's one of my Go To wet and snoey weather knibds. I teamed mine with my Bokor Coye Ridgeback, I carry my Arvensis horizontal and covked up-forward my Ridgeback for easy excess, It's a lite combo and I enjoy using it. I added my Estwing Double bit Hatchet and my Corona which I have it in my Silky Sheath for my BigBoy200, It will fit most Bigboy Saw's, anyhow it work's with my Corona. I also use my Gerber Multi Tool because I fo use the Awl alot. But, Yeah, The Arvensis Rock's. Thanx You for sharing it. ,, .

Say Heah Eric, Yeah, I got mine for my B'Day, I teamed mine up with my Bokor Coye Ridgeback. I have to admit, It was difficult to Piggyback the two knives, since their Sheath's are both Taco Sheath's and the holes don't cooperate. But with a chain and some ties (2) their held together great now. Both knives really compliment eachother great. Thanx You. ,, .

Say Heah, Yeah, They made sure the tip would be strong, It's a deliberate design. I also teamed up my Arvensis with a Coye Rigeback. A nice cimbo that compliment eachother,, I like my 119 Arvensis. I initially bought it for my wet and snowy conditions But it work's great in all weather, Infact sometimes I forget why I bought it fir. Yeah, I will suggest this knife.,,.

You WILL see a BK-5 on my channel. I know in my soul that blade is gonna be awesome. I have been watching for one...I like to grab the one someone puts up for sale with the custom kydex and aftermarket scales. I haven't found one yet, but I've come close. I know i'll find one and as soon as I do I'm gonna grab it. And NO you can't have it!!! Mine...mine...mine... HAHA!

But this arvensis is SWEET. you'll see a video of me modding this thing to get rid of that finger guard. and then it will be a top ten blade in my mind. I need to learn to trust the 154CM...i haven't hard tested that steel yet. But I KNOW the 1095 Cro-van is tough stuff.
