To me this knife covers both bases of having survival and tactical aspects . Plus it's a great looking too👍. I think it's worth a purchase and would be a great knife to hand down to a son or daughter 🍀

Say Heah Tim, Actually the 154 CM is a pretty good stainless with over 1% carbon, Infact a little more than 1095 similar to O1. But stain less.

My local gun store had a 20% off sale and I was able to get it @ $150.00. At that price this is a great knife. As you reported the edge was very sharp out of the box. I find the handle very comfortable and the sheath is among the best I have found. Out of the box this is a better knife than the Esee 6 in my opinion. Better steel, coating, sheath, fit and finish. Once you've purchased a decent sheath and better scales for the Esee 6, you've spent the full retail price of the Arvensis. I think this knife should receive more attention. Thanks for your review.

Would the papa bear knife be better, or worse maybe equal to the Papa bear? This is far less pricey but I'm not sure. Also, I have some suggestions . Since you were so kind as to reply to me to help me with some suggestions on what knives to look, I thought I'd give some suggestions back. Would it be possible for you to time the chopping in your time lapse to see how long it wold take, maybe number of chops? I truly am curious about these things and not alot of gear reviewers do this. Another thing could be is to readily put the specs in the description as a visual reference. I sometimes watch several of your videos at once and it sure would be nice to have the specs and price as a written reference for comparisons. Speaking of comparisons if you could compare a similar knife at the end of you video as a competitor or high end pricier version of a given knife it sure would narrow down alot of people's options. This would cater to the budget friendly or even the high end survivalist, knife enthusiast, ec.

I kind of wish that they made it in a slightly tougher steel like a 3-V, M4 or even D2. Anyway great review
@sonfoku73

not arguing but d2 isnt as tough as 154cm
@michaeltanos4754
@michaeltanos4754 7 жыл бұрын
I'd have to disagree. Personally I've handled blades in both steels and I find that D-2 tends to be quite a bit tougher then 154 cm
@Wildwestwrangler
@Wildwestwrangler 4 жыл бұрын
@@michaeltanos4754 no, D2 has higher wear resistance and edge retention. Don't confuse that with toughness. D2 will absolutely chip before 154cm!!!
@Wildwestwrangler
@Wildwestwrangler 4 жыл бұрын
Listen S30V is basically D2 with added chromium to make it more stainless, but it can be chippy in larger blades, which is probably why they went with 154cm. They probably found a way to heat treat it that it would maintain it's ductility, and it was also probably a cost savings measure so that it wouldn't start at 300 bucks!!!

I bought one of these last night, even though I need another 6-7" fixed like a hole in the head. Just couldn't resist it at $160.00 shipped. Same model number as the good old Buck 119...main difference being weight: 7.5 oz (no sheath, 10.5oz with sheath) for the Buck vs 11.8oz for the BM119 (16 oz with sheath). That's a significant weight savings for longer hikes. The Buck feels very light in hand, and retails for $55.00, a value that's may be impossible to beat for a quality USA produced knife from a great company. These days, all this wood processing seems like a low bar for quality knives, and I've never needed to resort to banging my knife through wood to get a fire going. Does Optics Planet still take orders for items they don't have in stock, informing the customer after they have paid? Got tired of that after the 3rd time and haven't ordered from them since.

I think the RH thing gets a little too much hype. Its still a thick ass slab of steel. Chances are very few of us could do anything that would make the knife fail short of blatant torture (batoning a hardwood like a noob etc). Fantastic review friend.

Good knife, crappy sheath the belt fastener broke upon 1st use. Good presentation I guess its just me, but most (not just this author) KZfaq videos seem to start out with "this is a knife" and then there isn't a piece of wood in the forest that is safe from being chopped to pieces by the featured knife. Knives are for cutting "axe" tools are for chopping.
