All of these acceptance speeches are used by us...lol...btw...we're in our 60's and 70's,not a lot we need or want,but laughter is always great.

One problem: lying to a person, telling them they are better at something than they are - in this case picking out gifts - stumps their chances at developing and improving. If they think they know you they might not care to learn what you really like and you may spend your whole life lying to them. It's gonna backfire at some point, so it might be better (though much harder) to learn to say the truth in a polite way, or let them down gently. If you knew someone who would appreciate the present more, mention that for instance. It might hurt the gifter's feelings but it will hurt more when they eventually realise they've been lied to and don't know a person as well as they'd hoped. Besides, you'll end up chucking all the presents, which is such a waste. Ideally though, one shouldn't bother with sending gifts to strangers unless it is people who desperately need practical items like clothing but can't afford it themselves. Get to know a person better first and you'll make life easier for the both of you.

I thought I was the queen of receiving bad gifts with grace, but dude wins. Hands down. My wonderful son and daughter-in-law always give the strangest things to me and because it is them, I gush and gush about how wonderful they are, so I can see their sweet faces beam at me. Therein lies the true gift for me ❤️
