I agree with Le Tissier’s view of current society. The intolerant, woke, highly controlled nature of today’s nonsense where even adverts have become propaganda is not something I relate to. I live quite happily but have effectively opted out of any interest in news or politics and have ceased watching TV programmes which are more concerned with ticking woke boxes than entertainment.

I don't agree with all his views, but Matt's absolutely right that open conversation & debate without fear of repercussion is vital to society.

Matt was an integral part of Soccer Saturday and along with his fellow presenters made the show highly entertaining with real chemistry between them. The current version is lukewarm to say the least, with cardboard cutouts lacking personality and enthusiasm. Diversity and box ticking tokenism has ruined a once great institution.

And that’s why I don’t watch Sky Sports anymore, they’ve removed people who played at the highest level for years who spoke the truth, with a group of done nothing yes men of the right ethnic background.

Similar happened to me after many years service in the emergency services saving lives. I was cancelled after some private and non work related messages were taken completely out of context . I had all the usual thrown at me misogyny, racist etc. Despite huge numbers of colleagues supporting me the organisation sacked me for dead. 2 years on I’m still haunted by what they did to me and my family are constantly worried because I can’t escape my suicidal thoughts

I was lucky enough to live in Southampton for a few years and watched MlT many times: my memories are of a average chap ambling around the pitch in a shambolic fashion until he did stuff with a ball that was unreal. He was shabby until he got the ball and then it was like storm clouds parted and the light of the football creation shone through. He’s a free thinker and is happy in his own skin. I doubt it is his thing but he’d make a great podcaster/KZfaqr as he’s thoughtful, honest and himself. From what I can tell the quality podcasters and KZfaqrs with a long term following are genuine. MlT from what I have seen of him is genuine. Legend.

On a broader point, what is LeTissiers views on a sportsman, whose fame and “blue tick” was earned via sport, using that privilege to comment about anything and everything else? Newspapers wouldn’t have employed him to be a political correspondent. TV wouldn’t have invited on political programmes for his ‘insight’. In the days of social media we are meant to be mesmerised by the blue tick and value his each and every comment. Naive at best, but more likely arrogance.
